I believe the 430 is what later became the 432, which is the T-64 (obviously we won’t ever get the T-64 due to the whole no-smoothbore clause) but I’d gladly take a tank with similar armour with a shittier gun.

In reality the Lorraine 40t was competing with the AMX 50 for the medium tank position, while the char Batignolles-Châtillon was a private venture competing with the AMX 13 and EBR for the light reconnaisance role. The near doubling of weight was justified by the upgunning to 90mm (90mm’s on recon vehicles wouldn’t be implemented until the 60′s). So the 105mm is really just something WG threw in, could be based on the F1, who knows.
