W/R is the measurement of the results of a series of battles, of which you can only ever have a win or a loss, this means that the outcome of every single battle is 50/50 until the battle is over, regardless of anything and everything, W/R, stats, tier, etc...

So, what is important then? well, your ability to do well in battle regardless of the win or the loss, especially in the loss. You see, doing well on a loss requires more skill than doing so on a win, why? because the odds were stacked against you, but you still did well. What else also makes W/R such a miserable skill meter is how easy it is to manipulate it by running lots of plats, CW's, team battles, and company battles. Therefore, measuring other stats that cannot be influenced by the presence (or lack thereof) of other players must be used instead if you want to have a truly unbiased system fort measuring skill. All variables from other sources other than that which you are trying to measure must be eliminated, or the results of what you are trying to measure will be influenced by the other sources, thereby preventing an accurate measurement.

Skill is not the ability to win, it is the ability to do well even when you do not, as losing is inevitable.

That 72%er did maybe 200 HP of damage throughout the match, therefore he sucks, IF he had killed 7 tanks, and done thousands of hit points of damage before dying, I would have said that he was pretty good, but he did not, and so he sucks.

You are probably right that such a great player could have never lost except in the most dire situations, yep, as long as you have a 72% W/R suiscouting in a tier VIII medium tank that happens to not be all that fast, is certainly a valid tactic that will allow you to win all the time because you are just that good, except when you die, horribly, seconds into the match. Yeah, he was just that bad.

As much as I despise RELIC, you're wrong. A 72% WR player is going to consistently perform better in a pub game than a 50% player. There's no reason to argue the science. You're free to dunning-kruger sperg all over the blog if you like. He likely had a bad game.

More people hate it but to WG redshire is well balanced. It appears that Redshire is only a camping map in US and maybe EU server. The RU server does not camp on the map they lemming rush.

So do not expect WG to balance a map that is a 'camping' map because they do not see any statistics that show any map to be a camping heavy map because the RU server will balance out the US/EU statistics by rushing on every single camping map.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

apparently ctrl+c doesn't work on sigs? Duly noted....I meant this:
 - SerB on new rating: “Real men use only two things to measure player quality (and one of them is winrate)” and “I don’t know (why we made the rating) but I don’t care”

And this is why I have this in my WoT sig.
- according to SerB, winrate is the (best) skill indicator, average winrate is 49 percent, if you have a 55 percent winrate, you your skill is much higher than the average player skill in game. Other developer later adds: “Skill is the ability to win, not to deal damage. If you dealt a lot of damage and lost, you dealt in wrong place”

Not really, there was some 72% WR guy from Relic on El Halluf, he was trying to rush one of the hills on our side of the map less than two minutes into the game. A bunch of us 50 percenters kicked his ass and went on to win.

Win rate is not a skill indicator, but rather an indicator of how well CW guys play follow the leader. They win in CW all the time, and what wins in clan wars comes down to is how well you are able to do what the guy in charge is telling you to do.

Otherwise, when they get in random matches, they don't know what to do, so they try doing all the things that only work in CW's (since that's all they know), and then they try to blame the "stupid pubbies" for their resulting death. We are pubbies, but we're not stupid. 72% CW guys on the other hand... well, apparently, they are.

I actually am pretty much "ok" with the Port map, but I HATE Redshire with a vengeance. It's beyond me that that map is still out there. It's IMHO by far the worst active map.

"Port confirmed to be completely removed in future" this is a huge mistake , that map was a really good map ,
what a shame for wargaming. They should have removed komarin , that map is totaly unbalanced and it's not good looking , and it even make player camp even more than in malinovka. Poor wargaming , they are always doing it wrong
