Wait. So a KV-1S with -2 depression would be difficult to play?
You’re telling me that a tank mounting what is essentially a TD gun at its tier and goes nearly as fast as a medium tank would be difficult to play if it had worse gun depression? Ok.
To summarize then, the massive gun and decent speed would be counterbalanced by the very poor gun depression and tier 5 armor.

Yeah, and nobody could beat it because it was buffed by ridiculous amounts. I can understand slight buffs in performance on it to account for having to fight one on 15, which even with a two tier advantage can be extremely difficult, but they overdid it for that event.

It was a prototype, and was ultimately turned down for various reasons, including a shift in doctrine. The IS-8 incorporated some of its features but made them cheaper, essentially being a half-way point between the IS-3 and IS-7, and was renamed the T-10 after Stalin’s death.

In historical battles you wouldn’t have any KV-1Ss with 122 mm D-2-5Ts. Yeah I know one actually did have the gun, but it required extensive modifications to even fit the gun into the turret, and the recoil was too much for the tank to handle, so it was a one-off prototype that never went anywhere, particularly as the IS-2 was available by them with the same armament and actually worked.
