According to Obirian from the above link, the early expiration is due to a conflict with the tier X event and technical limitations. Even though ingame the St. Patrick Days event seems to end tomorrow, it is supposed (and according to his post) will last until the 18th like it was announced in the portal. Good for me. I already paniced and made new plans regarding skill resets for the next 12 h.
