NM book lists the thickness of the frontal at 120mm at 32 degrees. Side at 45mm at 55 degrees. Turret is 80mm at 55 degrees.

With a giant tumor on top…

Armor from the books is unknown but if the turret drawing is accurate then the armor is about 40-50mm thick (before factoring in slope) with the frontal plate at about 80-100mm but I need to do some more precise measurements to be sure.

Might be thicker then that… need a few more pieces of info before I know for sure…

Japan did it with a 75 mm gun, Germany did it for the 75 mm gun on the Hs-129 ground attack aircraft, the British managed to pull it off with a 57 mm gun on one variant of the DeHavilland Mosquito (I may be wrong though, it might have been drum-fed).

So the answer is yes, but for the most part not for use on tanks.

The Japanese had a 75mm design. There are also several types of “Belts” made of different material. There is no reason why it could not work properly given enough time to develop it. But there are other solutions like the hopper, drum, drum & tray and cartage box that generally work better…
