No, its not the same. It is measured differently and there is more then one accepted way of converting it from PS to HP.

Don’t know the details, but AFAIK it was specifically a project to examine the suitability of the diesel-electric powertrain for heavy tanks.
Obviously didn’t win the Soviets over.

PS does not convert to HP exactly. As there are more then one way to convert it. It’s still in use. The biggest problem with books is the direct change over from PS to HP without changing the figures but as that does confuse people most authors let it slide…

The typ 180 was the one with the forward turret
and the typ 181 was the one with a rear turret
yet in the last article it talked about a rear turret typ 180
