I was about to say the same.

WG made the figures up without ever going anywhere near the tank.

ClanMcWood didn’t like WGs figures so went along to prove them wrong, couldn’t get accurate readings so resorted to sticking a ruler through various orifices, came back with much buffed armour values (at least for the turret).

Xlucine got the proper measurements which show it to be what it is, a tin can which was designed only for testing some new ideas and never intended for fighting.

Also the ingame FV4202 values are not based on that reading, wargaming never measured the FV4202 before adding it.

I’m very curious about the ‘real’ size of the t-34-3, it strikes me as very odd tbat there is a massive difference in size between the 34-2 and 34-3, it’s not unrealistic, but I’m just curious, SS do you know if, for us Europeans, it’s possible to somehow obtain blueprints of Chinese tanks? If not, how did WG create the 34-2 and 34-3? ;)

The FV 4202 armour was made up when WG implemented it in the game. Afterwards ClanMcWood and The Challenger went to Bovy and tried to measure the thickness but the sounder didn’t give proper readouts due to the paint and dust all over the tank, hence the attempts to measure it with a ruler.
The sounder Xlucine used was designed to circumvent the layers of dust and paint on the main armour and that gave the correct readouts.

Not really related, but someone might want to check out Pz.38(t)’s armour model. It got nerfed pretty hard – now it’s got 0mm armour set in some quite large areas, and there’s no mention of it in 9.0 patchnotes.

Trying to do a ultrasound measurement through F&^k knows how many layers of paint on a surface that can be very uneven and may be curved and where a few degrees off the perpendicular could add to the inaccuracy is not easy. If the metal has been cast one would have to take measurements from many areas to try and get an average as the outer and inner part of the mold may not have been in perfect alignment. Add to that the tank may be in the museum because it was a reject because it was totally out of tolerance.
