what were the main criteria that the army were using to distinguish between ‘infantry’ and ‘cavalry’ tanks? both the IIa and IIb seem very similar in terms of design layout, protection and armament so what made them different?

That could actually be an interesting premium, if done right anyway.

Considering it has the 76 mm gun and turret of a Hellcat on a T-54 hull, it wouldn’t be a good medium tank candidate…but it could be a premium LIGHT tank, possibly at tier 7 (as opposed to tier 6, by sheer virtue of its hull armor being that of a tier 9 medium)

Š is usually transcribed into English as “Sh”, č as “cz”

Š sounds like “sh” in english “shop”
Č sounds like “ch” in english “cheese”

The czech Š is kind of something between the polish sz and ś, and as such would sound like a whistling sh in english, while Č would be something like tch. Probably.

I’m confused by these Š and Č characters; I just read them like regular S’s and C’s but they have a mark over them, so there’s probably a difference (?).

Oh yes it is, there are many T-54 and T-72 derivatives, the newest of which is the Alan Degman MBT made in Croatia with parts from all over the ex-yu states.
