One of the reason the StuG was never fitted with the L/70 was that because the gun is placed so low, climbing certain slopes would cause the muzzle to grind against the ground and unlike tanks, they cannot simply turn their gun backwards.

“In any case, the gun required new traversing and elevation devices and probably the turret would have to be redesigned. The rate of fire would sink considerab;y because of two-piece ammunition. In addition, a second loader would be needed, and adding space for him would create considerable difficulty”.

No logistics issues mentioned. Only turret redesign and lower rate of fire (I am sorry, I omitted the ROF point, however it should be obvious).

That’s exactly how rumors are born. Because of SS reputation such claim (of logistics issues as on of reasons of 10,5 L/68 rejection) can easily start its own life.
