It is an M1973 but it may be the 152.4 mm gun,it looks like the older version 2S3.

I think you’ve mistaken some amx 30s (maybe prototypes) for leopards 1, at least the two last ones.

So that’s why…
I knew it was in a crappy shape(seen pictures of it few years ago…unused and rusty), but never thought of it sitting in a graveyard…
Still, glad they keep an eye on it. It’s the only existing Bchat afaik.

All those tanks are visible and not in restricted area. The restricted area can’t be accessed unless you have the keys to get past the gate on the side of the museum.

BTW, I have a lot of others photos around the museum and inside, so if you want them to publish them on FTR, this is doable.

Batchat is in their “graveyard”, since they had not enough space nor time to keep it in shape. Still, one of their mechanics told me it can still be restored since he’s complete, but he’ll need a hell of a job to look good again.
The choice was made to let it outside, since they thought it was not an important tank in the history of french tanks.
Still, with the success of WOT, they are thinking about bringing him back, but they have other projects to realize before, and their most important one is to make their Tiger 1 mobile again. Undestand : Bovington won’t be the only museum to have a fully operational tiger.
