Your arguments are the exact reason why history needs to be reminded.
No matter how many people were treated reasonably well in exchange for keepeing their mouth full & shut and turning a blind eye, there were countless others that were just born in the wrong family or did not share the same political values and expressed them publicly – those were criminalized and oppressed.

No amount of “sugar” is worth this.

Czechoslovakia traded (or more like was forced to trade) one evil for another, just like Ukrainians at first welcomed the Germans as liberators (from the rotten Soviets), only later to feel the full wrath of the nazi regime – and then got “liberated” again by the same scum that was in charge just a few years before. Forgot?

Oh yes, I can hear the screams of joy of all those people who suddenly were found “politically untrustworthy” by the puppet communist regime for made-up reasons and to be put into forced labour camps, jailed or simply exterminated. Forgot?

Or that “little accident” in 1968 when a few Warsaw pact divisions by mistake occupied Czechoslovakia and the Soviets “forgot” to leave for more than 20 years?

Just like Nazis forced us to work for them, the Soviets and their “Council for Mutual Economic Assistance” were sucking us dry and only repaid the debt last year?

There’s much more, but I won’t waste any more of my time.

When some people praise or even say that they want those “old times” back they are being selfish to the max – they would like to trade other peoples’ freedom or even lives for their own convenience. And that’s something that can’t be let to happen.

Sure , we also did not forget joint russo-german victory parade after they together conquered poland in 1939 . We did not forget russian tanks killing kids in august 1968. We also did not forget 40 years in russian slavery during comunism. We did not forget 200 thousand people that were shot on borders tryong to escape from this russian forced commie paradise.

And can Czechs will remember about 1945. And about 140000 Soviet soldiers who fell at liberation of Czechoslovakia?
Maybe forgot that input to Czechoslovakia of troops of the countries of the Warsaw pact happened in the heat of the American aggression against Vietnam?
Americans of 10 years bombed Vietnam and dumped on this heroic country more explosives, than all warring countries in the First and Second world wars, in a place the taken.
but today learn Russia how to build the constitutional state.
Maybe will remember about occupation and a partition of Czechoslovakia, Lidice, Auschwitz, Maydanek.
Forgot? That in the years of World War II all Czechoslovakia from morning to the night worked for fascist Germany, delivering it military equipment, ammunition, the food, regimentals and footwear.
It to you not Yugoslavia which delayed on itself in severe 1941 of 650000 Hitlerites — is 35 fascist divisions.
Forgot? That many thousands of Czechs, Slovaks, Poles, Romanians, Hungarians, Bulgarians, etc. graduated in the Soviet HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS, including in the highest military educational institutions of the USSR

You people should start learn history and stop jumpwagooning on antiamerican propaganda. Your hate of McDonalds is good for your body, but some people from CSSR (like me) still remember what it is like to live under direct Moskva political influence – absolut propaganda, state security arresting people and tanks from time to time… Uncomparable to current state.
