Because the 36,6 ton weight is the value that can be found in the books and articles, and I forgot to add an “approx.” before them :)
This value will be, let’s say, the standard, and the tier 6 vehicle will be for example a little bit lighter? Just a thought, not sure.

I had the same idea with the lower armor, etc. of the Tas prot., but on FTR you can’t comment under very old posts.

The size change is interesting. I like the idea of a more compact panther.
I think the sidescrape inability is not an issue, as a medium with good speed it needs a different play style.
I personally would keep it(both tiers) even if it underperforms in its tier. I still have my beautiful pzIII ;)

Why weight is the same for both variants despite obvious difference (100 mm LFP, guns, engines, turret)?

Centurion and Caernarvon are tier 8, after all. Same thing goes for the Soviet 122mm guns on the IS, IS3, etc (390 alpha) and IS8, IS4 (440 alpha), or Tiger 2′s 105mm (320 alpha) and the tier 9 and 10 mediums’ 105mm (390 alpha). So yeah, alpha isn’t only tied to the gun caliber, but also tier.

Just like kunjuro said, alpha dmg is not exactly tied to the caliber, so we can not assume exactly how high would be the alpha of an 80mm gun.
If we compate it to the 76,2mm (17pdr) British and the long 85mm guns of the Soviets, the in between 80mm should be around 150-160. But yes, the 83mm (20pdr) guns have 230 alpha, so the 80mm gun should have 200-ish alpha instead? I don’t know, the developers will decide.

if it’ll have 150-ish alpha, than it’ll probably have high RoF to compensate it. And if it’ll be somewhat higher, let’s say, 190-ish, than the RoF will be lower. It’s balance stuff, and I’m not an expert in it, I’m just speculating :)

Damage isn’t entirely tied to caliber. The Type 58′s 85mm gun has 160 damage and 128 pen. The T-34/85 has similar stats with its 85mm.

a hybrid of both, it looks like it has Comet’s speed and gun depression and the armour and gun of a Panther.
