Me too, I have seen then first hand, that is a joke in most cases.

Just check ebay for the source and the “hunters” web sites…IF there had been a big $$ item it would of been stolen first no matter what is near it

You mean state sponsored archeologists that are trained in ordnance disposal and are sent there in the first place to discover unmarked graves so the soldiers can be properly re-buried? I’ve dug with these people. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

No thanks…..not with “relic hunters” who despoil war graves and endanger themselves and others with random digging close to dangerous ordnance.

These guys are just robbing graves and destroying the historical record…they should NOT be called Archeologists.

Nope, not mad at all.

The info is still wrong however

They found bits of a Tiger, but they DID NOT find Tiger chassis 01

The numbers they find are misleading them as component part numbers do not match up to chassis numbers on German tank parts systems. This is well know but not to the “relic hunters” who despoil war graves and endanger themselves and others with random digging
close to dangerous ordnance.

Addenda
In the case of the first Tigers (at Leningrad) it is already known that they used gelbbraun (RAL 8020) and panzer grey (RAL 7021). Gelbbraun was to be used to cover 75% of the vehicle and dark grey the rest.

People should note though that even hard and fast paint colour regulations weren’t adhered to. Because of the distinct lack of colour photos and footage during WWII it is particularly difficult to divine actual colours and tones. Best we can do is generalities particularly for the losing side.

It was actually Gelbbraun RAL 8020 for DAK. But there is a big differentiation with colour schemes and paint shades.
