I think they said it was removed as a) e-100 didnt need it balance wise and b) they want tier 10 to be fulltech in most aspects without having to research engines, tracks, turrets etc. (But somehow they still left the 2 guns and by now added way more tanks that need to grind guns on tier 10 (some meds)).

It doesn’t even matter, if the more angled strip is thinner, because it has nearly the same effective armor as the rest of the UFP.
200mm at 63° are ~440mm effective armor
150mm at 70° are ~438mm effective armor
