The French army and military industry was very protective of its machines. It really doesn’t come as a surprise that most of those ideas were meant for FT-17. France still had hundreds of them, and other armored vehicles were pretty much kept secret.

Furthermore, FT-17 were cheap and easy to fix. There’s a years-long attempt at producing a “what if France hadn’t surrendered?” day-to-day story going on on internet ( http://www.1940lafrancecontinue.org/ ), gathering historians and scientists, and the whole idea is that France retreated to North Africa. And the tanks she shiped over there were the D1 and FT-17, not the B1-bis and Somuas, as they were so hard to maintain.
