Actually there wasn’t.
After WW2, many French units started tracking their “traditions” back to XVIII century and Royal Armée of that period.
“Royal Pologne” unit from XVIIIc. originated from Lorraine and was named like that to honour Duke of Lorraine, Stanisław Leszczyński (Who was forced out by Russians, but titled himself as “King of Poland” right to his death).
