  1. Americans would probably spend 2.4 mil $ and 3 years developing M651-L Tactical Tank Log to use in such situations.

      • NASA spent millions to produce a pen which works in space, because normal ones didn”t work. When confronted with the same problem, the soviets used a pencil.

          • Actually its true, later tough the soviets stopped using pencils because the particles of the pencil when its in use in space fly off and could possibly do something bad to the tech, and started using the same space-worthy pens.

    • Yeah for sure.. And finally, after five years of development and after buing thousands of thore M651-L for both army and USMC thew will realize that they doesnt work either.

    • Made me Giggle too. When i think about it they already have three Air-logs: F-22,V-22 and F-35.
Or the two “we should have logs” M1 Abrams and Stryker.

      • Make sure to check the Youtube channel of BlacktailDefense for a whole bunch of presentation on the many failures of the Abrams and Stryker . Just search for ” FAiled Tanks ” and you will find his vids immediately .

        • Lol i am subscribed to that guy :)

Btw. SS should look at the guy and give us his opinion :P

        • That channel is made by Sparky, he’s about as trustworthy a source of information as the crazy-guy behind the 7-11. Most of his videos are hideously biased or inaccurate.

          • Yes, sometimes he runs “out of controle”. But can you tell me what the crazy guy behind 7-11 is?

      • It is not actually so false: ” Like most urban legends, there is a grain of truth: NASA began to develop a space pen, but when development costs skyrocketed the project was abandoned and astronauts went back to using pencils, “

        • Using ordinary pencil in zero gravity and oxygen rich atmosphere in US spaceship? Very bad idea. The ballpen development was not so expensive and the return on investmens was great, even in soviet russia they bought ballpens and not only for astronauts.

    • It would also be equipped with a Vulcan Minigun with an integraded C.T.S. (Civillian-Targetting System) and a H.M.R.E. (Happy Meal Ready to Eat) with the regulatory Diet Coke so they won’t get fat.

    • Nope why carry that log around when you can just whip out your trusty chainsaw and cut down some trees and build a full sized ramp for your tank.

  2. Lol, I looked up the answer a long time ago, but this is probably the first time i’ve seen the concept being shown in practice. Thx SS.

  3. Did something similar using a bag filled with rocks and sand to pull out a car. I should attach a log to it though.

  4. So… its not used for a fire? I thought since russian tanks were always broken the crew used it to keep themselves warm on the cold Siberian nights after their tank shot craps.

  5. Yep, suspected that log was being used for this purpose, only the fact that its being chained to tracks is new to me.

  6. funniest bit was the noob trying to get the tank to carry on forward when the log was up its ass stopping it!

  7. Why bother building nukes?

Put guidance system on log and shoot it at enemy. Go through M1 abrams frontal armour like hot knife through butter(except it’s not real butter because Americans are all on diet).

  8. Hmm… that must be a T-80.. not much Russian Tanks were built with Gas-Turbines and put to service (some were trial Projects only – cos the Turbines were not reliable enough, compared to the prefered Diesels)

Still nowadays i think a Gas-Turbine belongs to an Aircraft, but it’s not really suiting as a Power-Pack in a MBT – too complicated/complex Airfilters – and too high uptake rate (see M1A1 Abrams) – i think the Leopard2 has a far better Power-Pack overall.

  9. All those guys up above, having a laugh at the yanks.. The unditching beam concept is about as old as the tank, they carried them on the British “Tank” (actually they also had a big ass fascine [bundle of sticks], to fill trenches in). Why fix what isnt broke? First time Ive seen it in action though, so thx SS
