Hello everyone,

ever wondered, how IS-4 looks inside? A well-known Russian author, Maksim Kolomiec, is preparing a book about its development for Wargaming (specifically, Tactical Press publishing company). Here’s a preview of it, a colored cut, made by Pavel Shitkin.

  1. look at the thickness of frontal plate, that cannot be 140mm… or it looks like it because it is just a drawning?
Btw, is 140mm in front and 160mm at sides real thickness of IS-4s armor? sounds like nonsense to me :-/

    • IS-4 has 160mm front armour in lower hull and 140mm front armour in upper hull with better slope

  2. Looks pretty cramped… I wouldn’t want to be the loader or gunner in that tank…

    • Many of russian tanks are/were uncomfortable for crew:) Its known thing. From modern tanks we can take for example T-72 vs Abrams. T-72 comfort for crew? Where? Abrams? Thats a different thing:D

  3. Nonetheless, it’s a cool looking tank. There is a certain beauty in military vehicles that can be only made from practicality…

  4. I don’t know what’s about it, but IS-4 is one of the best looking (WW2 era) USSR tank. Something about it feels heavy and powerful. If that makes any sense what so ever.

  5. Pretty fun tank and it isnt as slow as people think. Armore if angled properly can easy bounce tier X tank guns, and if sidescraping even tier X td guns. Playstyle is specific and needs much skill and practice to use the armor properly. The gun is also prety good and does a good job without noobshells against tier X. Sadly its one of the two worst tier X tanks when taking winrate into acount…
