Patton Museum Pictures

Hello everyone,

American players Sadomasticator and dudu1212 recently visited the California General Patton Museum and decided to share some of their pictures. Thanks a lot :)

Warning: this post is very picture-heavy

  1. M60 is officialy considered as a heavy tank?
T-55 Riot control vehicule looks a bit odd.
Great pics, thank you Sadomasticator and dudu1212.

  2. The two Patton pics 2nd from bottom are an M47, not M60. The Sherman, are you sure that’s a M4A4? I know that’s what it says on the sign, but M4A4s had welded hulls and highly visible crew hatches. This looks like a M4 hybrid to me.

    • Sorry about that, those were some of the last pics we took and we had a long trip ahead and didn’t pay much attention to the several tank wrecks they had piled in the corner.

    • That M4 might be a M4A6 or maybe a M4E6 tho I don’t think it’s the E6 since it doesn’t have the correct turret or the correct armament.

  3. Pics 11,12,13 are of an M47 not an M60A3.

It is nice to see the museum doesn’t know that the M60A3 was an MBT and not a heavy. IIRC the M4A4 production finished by 1943, don’t know why it would be ’44.

  4. Nice pics, I do believe that the last 3 camoed tanks are M47′s, the muzzle break at the end, exaust out the top on the rear deck, along with the raised back of the turret. The M60 had exhaust out that covered the back end between the tracks. Spent may a night en-hailing that exhaust just to keep warm.

  5. Btw WGNA, I think I deserve an M60 code for looking so awesome in that last pic…

  6. So if I’m reading the plate correctly, the M4A4 has five engines crammed into it? The hell?

    • When we drive from southern New Mexico to Los Angeles to visit one of our kids in college, the scenery doesn’t change for eleven hours.

    • You should see Joshua Tree National Park, its like 30 minutes from this museum. Awesome place.

  7. I went to this particular museum for my 12th birthday, many many moons ago. Super awesome place. The inside has some really cool stuff as well.

  8. Nice pics, I’ll check those camo if they are the same in game and put it on my US tanks.

Somehow I’m looking somewhere if Arnold Schwarzenegger is in the background on any M47 tanks.

  9. that camo looks like the MERDC ‘Red ‘Desert’. Put onto all the New Zealand armour in the late ’70s.

  10. Funny how this keeps showing the US tank in 1962 to face the Rus MBT`s is the M60A3.

Also look at how different the M47 hull is. They need to make the correct enemies appear. Its not that the Rus tanks are so OP in game [well 120mm Hull T54 that also has massively OP engine] as much as they pick those tanks rivals poorly.

T54 with 120mm Hull and huge Engine+100mm gun enenmy should be at minimum a M47 [meaning much better hull than M46] and in all reality should be a full M48, since the T54 really has T55 stuff on it.

Also the T62A should be facing the M60A3 as the only reason the T64 came about was the M60 scared the Ruskis so badly.

Basically, the it went back and forth where M26 was best, then T54, then M47 then T55 then M48 then M60 then T64/72 then M1.

But in WOT they pick the weakest opponents, while picking the strongest possible Rus tanks.
