Gamescom Stream – Day 2

It started with QB advertising and then some random guy started talking how he started playing WoT… my god – who cares, how some random guys started playing WoT? Three hours of stream to cover the entire Gamescom day, several games and this is what you waste it on? Incredible.

And of course, some mandatory “WoT is the besterest”… I mean, it’s a good game, but “unparalleled experience”? Please.

As a bonus, the chat was completely compromised by people spamming that retarded reference Alienware shit. Well, at least there was that hot Turkish chick again. What was less funny was that the competition thread on FB was immediately infested by spammers as well, so that didn’t work too well. The rest, in points:

- Some random WG employee: “we had the really nice big booth” – but you’re not going to see it, because we will show you a bunch of random guys instead (same goes for Gamescom atmosphere, dancers, WoWs…) Absolutely retarded.
- Eikarrramba (German community contributor) appeared to explain what a community contributor does (reading FTR and translating it :P Nah, I know you do your own stuff as well and you do it nicely, keep at it!)


- Lemming Train leader was talking about his e-sports team. It’s a nice team and all that, but how on earth is that connected to games expo? Then there was some e-sports talk, nothing new really – plus there was a footage from Warsaw WGL Finals. Recycling to the max.

Regarding the gold competitions anyway, I tried to insert the Sweepstakes competition nickname and it requires some pretty extensive access to your FB account. You know, for a small price of a few thousands of gold given away, WG is getting a nice little (or rather, not so little) database of real names (including your hobbies, friendlists and all that) paired with ingame nicknames. I guess privacy is obsolete.

Big Boss Kislyi was a guest too, he talked about himself how he started. His English is actually pretty good, it improved. There was Richard “Challenger” Cutland as well, talking about his life. The funny part was where they praised WG for historical realism… *sigh*. Then the topic was Wargaming support of education and museums and all that, including Bovington. I thought this part would be really interesting, but it was just boring stuff about how nice they are. Old stuff, boring, boring, boring.

At this point I discovered I am banned from Twitch chat for no reason, which however did not matter since the chat was on for like 1 minute and then it was switched off again due to spam.

The next topic was the movie Fury, and it was – well, surprise: boring. And it had nothing to do with Gamescom. A comparison was made how important is the tank warfare to Russians compared to the US culture. After that some guys from the Xbox office came and that was my cue to get the hell out.

Seriously, how much more boring can you make the show? You had Viktor Kislyi for like half an hour of his time in your studio and all the people managed to do is ask him about his past? No questions about his vision for the Wargaming products in the future? Nothing?

Overall, this is the most boring stream I have ever seen. The host is okay, but everyone else is so tiring and saying nothing new, this is what Wargaming presents on the most important European game expo? *sigh* Anyway, looking forward to what Jingles will have to say about the entire booth and all that, should be more entertaining.

    Whilst I to am certain that is PR talk, SS dont judge too much on that. Games are completely subjective experiences. You seem to love Skyrim (I guess). Good for you. I find it somewhat borring and shallow. Much rather play STALKER or its many mods.

    • True. It’s just that the PR talk makes me cringe. I know it’s not meant to be taken seriously, but I know for a fact I just wouldn’t be able to go in front of the camera and say that.

    • It’s not the PR stuff that’s a bother, everyone does it, the thing is, everyone else puts substance with the PR talk. This is just pure PR talk. What else is there but that?

        No, everyone is like this on gamescom, E3, etc. It’s what they do for living even if they don’t make any games that year and they are on verge of bankrupcy.

  13. Question regarding the rewards: are rewads just gold and Hype59′s or can you win some other premium tanks? (havent watched any of the streams, even thinking about the spam in the chat gives me headache)

  15. I only watched the first stream because I was interested in finding out info about wows even then that was disappointing. Can’t watch this time due to work, maybe the third day we will actually see some actual wows gameplay. While I was on the forums they said they had a big surprise to show off on the third stream so fingers crossed.

  16. Actually there were 2 parts i found at least mildly interesting or amusing:
    1: The part they discussed the making of the Xbox version – i think it sounded like the developement of that version is better than PC version because the models had to be improved for Xbox and they have some features that we don’t even have in the PC version… Looks like Xbox guys do a good job.
    2: The part where they at least showed some dancing and singing and a quick story about the “how does this dancing thing work”. Since they seem to be the only dance crew with underwater dancing in europe i believe that would be quite something to see live.

    LOL, Frank, you should know her from ESL streams… To be honest, i hate her with passion because the only reason she is hired is that she is “would fuck” bait for every twelve-year-old pubbie. I mean, watch some ESL and listen to her commentary – fortunately, they won’t let her comment on battles, only do PR shit.

  21. They have a lot to learn about such exhibitions, they need to take a leaf out of Apple’s book. At such an event, you announce new things, and talk through them, promote them, explain them. But no, we got two days of boring farts on a couch talking about shite that no one is interested in. It was worth watching some bits just to see QB try make his appearance relevant. In a way I felt sorry for him, he was pitched in with a ship of fools, that lacked direction, presence, and real passion. The big launch of WOWS, and I didn’t see any game play or discussion of it? Sorry WG, not impressed. Throwing money around does not guarantee good results, It all seemed very awkward and quite honestly I just cringed through most of it.

    • I think he’s been “bought” for some time now. At least Jingles has the sense to keep his distance.

      • I dont have a problem with QB but he never says anything negative against WG at all. Doesn’t seem to ever have an opinion at all anymore
