Havok and Motion Physics Video

Hello everyone,

yesterday, I provided you with a summary from a video, where Storm answered some questions about World of Tanks. The summary can be found here. The video was however removed from Russian portal unfortunately – the reason was, there were some mistakes and there were also profanities in the chat.

It should return soon (even today), but you can watch it right now, because someone from the Wotleaks community managed to actually capture it.

It’s all in Russian and most of it is a footage of someone playing World of Tanks (wasn’t Storm himself, some community guy it was I think). But there are two interesting segments. First, there is a footage of Havok destruction (at cca 0:25) and secondly, a small preview of the new motion system (at cca 1:56). Looks interesting.

      • Yes, instead it is better keep gulping down their empty promises – like a true fan.
I wonder what the devs are planning to do on Sathurday, maybe I should ask them that. Who knows, they might be free for dinner. I know a restaurant where they deliver the main dish only after a few hours, serving soups and drinks in the meantime. Oh wait, that restaurant is actually called WG.

      • C’mon chill. Give them time. Better take it long than rush and screw it :)

        • It might sound shocking, but there is also something called “common test” where even if its not working properly actual ppl test it. 30 000 ppl testing might uncover more then a dozen internal WG testers. Simple logic imo.

    • But its also bad to think that tanks are sticking to the ground. A tank drifts much easier than most might imagine.

      • But mostly if you make it drift. I hear the argument from the WTGF how “realistic” that game is and I can tell you from personal experience, tracked vehicles don’t slip and slide as much as they do in that game.

        • Also from personal experience, Leopard 1 ARV driver in Norway, I find the slip’n sliding of WT to be the more realistic option… Not so bad on dry dirt or sand where we’d stick like glue, but mud or wet and soggy snow and woodlands had us sliding all over the place.

  1. Off the topic: Currently In SEA sever, the Fury mission has been started. How about you guys servers??

  2. That movement looks like from War Thunder. As i remember SS ,you was unhappy from that movement in WT…..

  3. Where is the king tiger video? I am very keen on seeing how the KT and such tenks will behave with the new physics. Hope they dont break the shit turning it into a fucking tokyo drift.

Edit: I saw the video. But how do you make sure the tank does not drift, I dont see the benefit having a fucking KT drifting around corners. Is this related to the handbrake thing? I wosh you can steer normal like you do now.

  4. Favorite part is at 2:24 or so, when the 1390 guns the engine and ramps right up what would normally be a far steeper slope than it could manage without the help of a couple of other tanks and a few hundred HP of ram damage.

Really hope they don’t artificially limit the climb angles to as poor as they are now, being able to use more of the map in lights and lighter mediums would be awesome.

I wonder how they’re going to balance the handbraking ability on larger tanks that *should* only be able to corner very slowly as part of their balance : \

    • They are going to make it more realistic. but making it too realistic would break the game ala WT.

This game is not supposed to become WT, it just is implementing some better physics. Therefore I see HT not needing to corner extremely slowly.

  5. I saw there was a new video from WG in YouTube 30 mins ago about how they make Hangars, when I went to watch it, it is now gone. Anyone has watched it?

  6. The new motion system is a bit overkill, because the King Tiger (Tiger II) don’t slide to much in flat surface with snow. I hope heavy weight tank (60 t up) should be not slide too much on rough terrain.

    • Imo, the sliding is useless on the KT. I would much rather have less slide motions in able to aim more precise while moving (brawling). A tank like KT doesnt benefit from drifting around corners. Hopefully this will only be made possible with the bullshit handbrake thing. Unless WG release a new equipment that “increase the traction”.

  7. (wasn’t Storm himself, some community guy it was I think).

Wrong. We can see footage from his stream. And as long he was playing in his stream and not just answering questions, it is Storm.

  8. With all the new physics and stuff, it would be cool if the tanks would have actual recoil when they fire, making them rock slightly back and forth (sorta like WT).

  9. Watch from when the replay with the Fv 215b (120) replay starts and look in the team list and pay a close attention at the top of the team list. Surprise surprise that may be our good ol’ freind Storm.
