  1. I’d rather have the T42.

But it’s nice to see yet another tier 8 tank with a better gun than the Pershing.

Historically, what gun did this have? Because it looks an awful lot like a 90mm M36. And if it’s a 90mm M36 with 186 penetration instead of 173, that’s going to be really annoying.

    • T42 would fit the 2nd med line way better than the prem slot.

The gun is indigenous Jap “90 mm Rifled gun” from the STA-1

    • You mean something like the shocking difference between the Hellcat’s 90mm and the literal exact same gun on the T25/2 with less penetration and damage and a lower ROF?

      • No, a new gun based in modifying the basic characteristics of the single M36 Japan received for testing.

  2. Actually this may become a popular tank.
Nothing special, but Type 59 are also like this.
Sure it don’t have the Armour, but hell, other stats looks on par with T8 MTs. Will think about getting one if Type 59 is too expensive (Asia player).

    • Type 59 has among the best armor in it’s class at that tier. This will never play like a Type 59 because it’s not immune to most of the stuff it faces.

    • no comparison, in its day Types armor was OP and made the tank, but not as much now and its not as good because of power creep.

      • Most of the stuff that would “creep” on it, it never sees anyway.

The same vehicles that had trouble with it before still have trouble with it now. Yeah there might be a few vehicles out there that don’t but you think the Type 59 got creeped on? What about the other units that the Type 59 was superior to from the get-go? Type 59 with preferential matchmaking and immunity to most of the opponents it’d face is going to be a superior tank to this, which will get penetrated by nearly everything in it’s tier bracket. And it’s unlikely that it’ll get preferential matchmaking.

  3. Looks nice, something like Type 61 with second gun from STA-1 and better ROF. It will be very nice tank:)

    • Because people don’t make assumptions like you that if one related tank must suck the tank sucks itself. You must be fun at parties.

        • no, hes right, it suxx ass.

It has a decent gun and good gun depression, but its slow, it has zero armor and very expensive repair costs. Why would u play an STA1 over an FCM50T (aside from grinding it)?

As a premium, why buy it if u already have the 50T?

Maybe because WG classes the 50T as a HVY and ur MM might be better in the STA2 as a MT, but is that worth 50 bucks?

          • If you factor in ground stats STA-1 is about as fast as an FCM, it’s got better track and turret traverse, better gun depression and over triple the camouflage values.

Oh, and matchmaking doesn’t consider the STA-1 a heavy tank, so it has less MM weight.

Yeah, FCM is totally superior… not. That’s why it has limited MM. As a heavy tank, it’s kinda bad.

            • STA-2 is probably slightly inferior and will likely get limited MM, but it will still be more agile and stealthy than an FCM.

And of course, it’s a Japanese medium, so it can train Japanese medium crews. Which the FCM can’t, surprisingly.

              • Good thing stealthy means a whole lot in world of funnels now….

Tanks with NO ARMOR at all mean you have to trade Dmg to retards in IS6`s and other 390 Rus tanks.

This is why the T59 is amazing is you doint have to. Hullk down and laugh at the drooling tards who try to trade with you.

Also FCM 220ish pen is HUGE advantage over 185

                • Fucking exactly. I’ve never seen this said better.

Stealth is only an advantage if you’re a T-54 clone and can disappear on level ground while moving 60 meters infront of someone.

                • It still means a surprising amount, especially on tier 8 where newbies and tomatoes in premiums run rampant.

And 185mm pen is sufficient. I played my STA-1 from stock.

          • Because it’s not huge and has good cammo values and better gun dep? Thats 3 good reasons.

  4. ok im amazed how close this things stats are to the regular (without the armour of course but the max a pershing can bounce is a tier 7 medium or a tier 6 heavy anyway) pershings it cant be as good as this on the liver server either that or it will be boned by the soft stats.

also wow the pershing really needs a dpm buff badly this things dpm is over 250 better without a rammer than a pershing with a rammer and this thing has better accuracy too. dont get me wrong i like the pershing but even premiums are getting to the stage where they are competitive against it.

this must be wargamings way of trying to get people to play the japenese mediums more.

    • well pershing has a turret capable of bouncing T10s. That always was, is and will be its main selling point. Also, Pershing has really good APCR rounds, if this thing gets HEAT like STA-1, thats another major difference.

      • i hate how the premium rounds are one of the main features of the pershing im some one who personally tries to avoid them but they are one of the few advantages it has over its competition so it would be stupid to not utilize them. also from my experience the turret is definitely troll but it wont bounce tier 9s reliably from my experience.

also im pretty confident that this and the panther 88 will get premium matchmaking just like the fcm 50t because the 50t is so dam quick with better armour and likely a better rate of fire than both of these with better penetration. the only balancing factor of the 50t is the fact that there isnt many of them around and the fact that its huge but i like it a lot anyway.

        • FCM is also a heavy and gets the MM weight of one. And I don’t think the Panther 88 will get limited MM, considering it it equal to Panther 2 in most aspects, and even better in a few.

          • FCm doesnt get a higher weight. IDK why you keep saying this.

            FCM costs 48 weight points.

            T59
            Spershing
            t34-3

All cost 48 points…..There is no difference.

            • Well, I stand corrected on that, then.

But it’s still a heavy with no alpha, no armour and a massive size. It lacks the one thing that makes other French heavies good, which is the auloloader that gives them good burst.

              • I love my FCM, it is a laser beam gun. It also is so fast its great and you can bully the shit out of tanks by ramming them. It could be best rammer in the game.

All in all tanks need armor to carry, but the FCM gets a nice HP pool and even though it was better at open maps its still pretty good. It makes shit loads of creds though as you dont need gold rounds.

Also its modules are very strong. If this is like other Jap tanks, it will catch fire breathing on it.

  5. 11k gold….wtf is up with WG chargring so much for these new tanks?
185mm pen…cmon….Pershing only has 180 and SuperPershing is stuck at 170, its gona be one OP med tank

    • They’re standardising the gold prices for tier 8 premiums. They’re all above 10k now, except Super Pershing and that thing is shit.

      • Pretty much. They’re planning on charging the same for the Scorpion. A tank with no armor, no preferential matchmaking, no speed and a mediocre gun. Lol.

        • Don’t diss the Scorpion yet, it’s still in testing. And remember, when E25 came out a lot of people were making fun of it…

          • E25 had several initial advantages over the Scorption.

            1) It can’t be penetrated by autocannons.
            2) It can at least somewhat benefit from overmatch.
            3) It has a ridiculously high rate of fire.
            4) It’s fast.
            5) It has preferential matchmaking

Scorpion will get none of that. It’s one single highlight is a 235 pen gun, which at tier 8 isn’t super-fantastic anyway. Especially with relatively low alpha at a tier where TDs are getting 700+ damage.. Especially for something that can’t run, can’t bounce a spitwad and can’t DPM anything into the ground before they decide to just run it over…

It has absolutely 0 fear factor. “Oh hey a Scorpion. Let’s ram it for the lulz.”

            • 1: there are no autocannons at this tier except maybe the Leopard, but that thing has enough to go through an E25 as well.
2: The Scorpion would benefit more, since it’s gun is a higher caliber. Unless you specifically meant against each other, but I don’t find that relevant.
3: It needs that because otherwise it would be incapable of doing much at all with that absurdly low alpha. Also, Scorpion has a great firing arc, better depression and incredible accuracy. Plus, you know, better alpha. Even if the DPM is less, that still counts because often you’re trading shots, not straight DPMing people
4: E25 has a higher top speed, but Scorpion has a higher P/W AND better ground stats. Scorpion accelerates much better.
5: Scorpion will likely get that as well.

Oh, also. While the E25 is small, fast and has good camo, it actually has mediocre viewrange. Scorpion has good viewrange and will according to what Devs said have roughly same camo.

              • Sorry but in brawling meta a tank that literally will pop from just splash DMG on arty, and take full DMG from all HE and have to fight close is gonna be very poor ingame now.

The days of vision control being godmode are over. IS7 is back at the top, and hard headed meds like T54 clones and e50`s are only viable meds.

Tanks need some form of armor to not have to piss aaway there hp.

Every match this tank will depend on the team, which is bad

  7. That gun (if similar in stats to looks of the M3A1) was absolute crap on the STA-1 – now it’s going to be put on a platform that should underperform compared to an elited one …

Stick to your Chi-Nu Kai for a crew trainer, this looks like it’ll be total overpriced and underperforming crap with dat gun.

  8. Long time ago t8 prems used to cost around 8k gold, and were a really good for their tier (KV-5 when gold ammo was still gold ammo, SP when it laughed even at Ob704, type59, Lowe). Now everything starts from 11k even when it requires effort and patience to be anywhere near useful.

  9. So we have Type 61 hull with a ugly Turret and an average gun. We will get no camo, thanks to the huge profile, no armor because japanese and this doesnt even get compensated with a good gun.

This tank wont be a joy to drive.

  10. Finally!
I’ve been wading through all those other premiums hoping for a Japanese tier 8 premium for so long.

  11. Finaly! A proper medium with good gun dep, mobility, ok pen, accuracy and dpm. Expensive as fuck though and if it has the same weaknesses as STA-1, then it could use a bit more pen.

  12. I would be much more likely to buy such a vehicle, if it was released one patch BEFORE the actual line is introduced. I already unlocked the Tier X, I already have a highly trained crew, y even bother?
