9.5 CT Placeholder Warning

Hello everyone,

just a warning to you. If you want to try out the new British vehicles in 9.5 test, be aware that the final experience might be very different from what you see in the test, because some tanks are loaded with placeholders. Let me explain how it works: before a vehicle is put even on supertest (a term for internal WG testing, pre-CT stage), developers balance the statistics based on the historical values the vehicle had.

But BEFORE they even do that, during the stage the model is ready to be balanced for initial testing (pre-supertest), the modules have placeholder values. Basically it’s just a bunch of random numbers. And yes, it’s this pre-testing stage that the devs threw on the common test. So we get stuff like this:

Two guns, same values and BOTH are placeholders. What I noticed so far (but I had just a quick look):

- Charioteer L7 stats are a placeholder
- some 17pdrs are placeholders (you can tell by the 0,4 accuracy value and the ROF), including the Firefly guns
- some 6pdrs are placeholders as you can see

Can’t tell for the rest, but I literally just quickly ran through it. So, again, keep your anger (or hope) leashed until at least second CT iteration and wait for real (at least initial testing) values.

  3. Lol, gotta try 17pdr while it’s possible. Guys who are trying out tier 8 premiums will not be amused.

  4. So basically the testserver is entirely pointless at the moment.
    Looking forward to testing the british tanks once the real testserver is up, not gonna waste time on hurr durr tanks.

  5. So do we know whether the Charioteer is actually keeping the L7 or not?

    Annoying that there are so many placeholders. Hopefully the next iteration will fix all that and not take too long to arrive.

    Actually, I’m quite curious about the AMX CdC; can someone use tank inspector/tank viewer to get a better idea of how big the thing is? Depending on the size, it could be quite a nice upgrade over the FCM 50t…

    • that tank is only for supertesters so uneless you are super tester you have bad luck :)

  6. As far as I can tell, my FPS is 60 as before but freezes are completely gone! It’s like a new game. I hope WG keeps it up and won’t fuck up anything.

  8. …Fuck…I think the test server must have copied my old password before I changed it for the 300 gold handout.

    Not sure there’s any way to deal with that considering another reset would only affect my live server account =/ Damn.

    • I think that’s why I can’t log in either. I changed my password for the 300 gold handout a few days ago.

      • You guys don’t remember the passwords you used to use only a few days ago?…I still remember my first password from THREE YEARS ago.

    • same thing here….and good old wargaming doesn’t have jack shit for customer support. Damn this sucks.

      • Just use the old password perhaps.. Thats the way it worked for me. (At least the last time it happened) also if you have accounts on multiple servers with one E-Mailadress you may have to use the pw of your account on these servers

        • I would, but I use a password manager that just generates random pw’s and whenever I make a new one I overwrite the old one…So I have no idea what the previous PW is.

          • Same problem here, and it wouldn’t accept neither the old or the new password. So i’m guessing remembering your old one probably wouldn’t help you out.

  9. shame about the L7 stats being placeholders im actually surprised with the balance on the chariotter I saw the L7 and thought oh dear but after playing it I think its fine the way it is.

  10. I found something’s wrong with the models, like on Sherman III the 6 pdr has the same model with the 76mm M1A1 gun. And the rof on the 17pdr Firefly is definitely wrong.

    I’m also curious that Firefly have two 17 pdr; The first one have the same pen as the OQF 77mm, but with 10 more damage. Is there something wrong, or the first 17 pdr just fires worse ammunition?

  11. Why on EARTH would they start the test server when more than half of the new tanks have place holder stats? What’s the bloody point? (Aside from bugs testing and fixes of course, but couldn’t have they rolled out the test when everything was okay already?)

    • 17-Pdr actually was very accurate, I don’t know why this whole “17-Pdr was inaccurate” myth has emerged from. The APDS shells had a bit of wobble at long range, but that was the ammo, not the gun.

    • заполнитель – something what they’ve put there for test only, in final version it will be something different or with different features

    • Это значит, что данные не финальные, а размещены просто как заглушки. То есть, по идее их должны заменить к выпуску на основные сервера.

  19. With the personal missions. Do you need to complete , e.g. the HT and all 15 missions or can u complete 5 missions from LT and 5 from MT and 5 from HT ?

  20. Hmm, not so sure. First gun mk.3 version, second mk.5
    Such difference was, for example, at Churchill line. 5 DMG difference between pre-top and top guns and thats all for 12000 EXP

  21. Performance on the test server is FUCKING AMAZING. Looks like they finaly fixed low gpu usage in battle and new minimap is awesome.

    • No worries, they will probably increase the cpu load because people complain their gpus getting burned. And this is what WG made a while ago, they put more load on the cpu and less on the gpu. Lolomfg, you would want as high gpu usage as possible.
