2014: Hard Choices

Hello everyone,

Storm lately said that in 2014, there will be only 2-3 branches and that he faces hard choices about what to pick. So, let’s help him a bit :) On the right side there is a new poll, incorporaing the possibilities. This time, you can pick THREE of what you would like to see in 2014.

Current options are:

German third TD line (Sturmtiger)
British mediums (Vickers MBT)
British heavies (Chieftain prototype)
British turretted tank destroyers (possibly the Conway, FV4005)
French mediums (AMX-30)
French heavies (without autoloader, havily armored turret)
European Tree
Japanese TDs
Japanese heavies
American mediums (T95 MT)

All these branches were hinted at one way or another as options that might appear in 2014. Which three would you pick? Please note that the Chinese TDs and Chinese arty have been confirmed not to appear in 2014.

      • didnt wargaming talk about tanks being implimented via petition a while back?
im not thinking of doing that yet but it is a possibility

anyhow anyone remember how many people had to sign the petition for the tank to be concidered

      • There are still more swedish tanks then any other nation not yet implemented to add. It’s just that the S-tank is the most well known one. We can always hope that WG gets better coders eventually.

    • Actually, implementing European tree would quite help make historical mode possible; right now at this moment Germans would dominate matchmaking since there is nobody to choose from on the axis side of battle. As hinted in video, Japanese would be greatly appreciated for historical mode and having for example Italian tanks would also help at least a little. On the other hand, who knows how will they make it and who knows if enough people played those possible new branches to make it significant enough for that mode.

      • I want to see:
        1. French tanks (G1L, G1P, AMX M4 1948, AMX 30 and some tanks more) – want them since the beginning of my WoT career!
        2. European tree with 2 or more Polish tanks (yea, I’m PL) – – want them since I heard about project of 20/25TP and some other PL tanks
        3. UK MBTs and HTs – since UK tanks are in the game, IMHO MT line (II-V LTs, VI – Cruiser tank and best VI, VII+ tiers are MBTs) best tanks in the game

          • The nations I own the most tank of are the British and French. I reached tier VIII in both main lines of the British and tier VII in the French. And I really wish to see more, because I like both their styles, mainly in heavy tanks (So that’s two votes).

Then, I voted Japanese HT, cause I wanna see new blood.

          • This
One more year to wait for Chinese TDs and SPGs (I wonder what their main characteristics would be)

  1. OK that is funny th british heavys and japanese heavys are tied. This is going to be epic.

  2. Went with Yurop (since I am a proper siema after all), British HT (since the current ones just don’t convince me), and Japanese HT (because I am a goddamn weeb)

  3. why are people voting for the japanese heavys? they didnt even heave any heavys in the real life and those ones on bluprints have massive weak spots…

    • Actually they did. The I-O was rumored to have been built and sent to Manchira (China) by a engineer who was on the project.

    • We’re not here to play good tanks. We wanna play fun tanks, original tanks, make the most of the fact that WG regards tanks that were in mass production with only a tad bit more respect than prototype.

I personally I’m not here to recreate famous battles and imagine myself a driver in WWII. I wanna see tanks that never have come. I wanna see the designs that were never accepted. I WANNA SEE THE PRODUCT OF THE EFFORT OF DESIGN TEAMS, EVENTUALLY UNREWARDED. I WANT TO SEE THINGS THAT ARE NEW, NEVER SEEN BEFORE, AND THAT WE WILL NEVER SEE ANYWHERE ELSE.

If I wanna play Panther, or Pz.IV, or KV-1, I’ll go to ground forces. I’m here to play TOG, ELC, AMX 50.

  4. Nothing compares to STURMTIGER!!!! It can offer very different playstyle and I like Brumbar too. But i will be happy about all of those trees.

    • It could and it would offer very different playstyle just that it wont. You know why? Because they will have to balance it out, so for example if they go with the ultimate gun, then you will have huge, sluggish monster with ridiculous reload time, insane (in)accuracy and never ending aim time. If they give it strong armor, expect such enormous or numerous or both weakspots. Etc etc… When I think about it, JgE100 and FV215 183 would probably be the most suitable contemporaries

  5. French Heavies and French Mediums deserve this year, it has been well more than year since their last update, they deserve to get their last branches in. Besides, they would introduce some interesting game play(M103 style turrets with T29 amount of armor on a vaguely mobile platform[for the heavies])

    • +1….I’m more interested the UK 2nd med line than any other on the list, the FV4202 is still a relatively UP tank for its tier. If this 2nd line is better I might as well dont continue the 1st med line. (It’s Comet’s fault that I’m not enjoying the line ORZ

      • I love all British Tanks from tier IV to tier IX. Tier Xs are not bad, but they are uninspiring. The Centurion 7/1 is an elegant warhorse moving about with grace and deadly accuracy. The Conqueror is a powerful beast with great firepower and a distinguished profile. The Tortoise is a sturdy wall of britishness, with incredible defence and great offense.

The FV4201 is 7/1 cosplayer that looks stupid, the FV215 is the worst design in the history of warfare and the FV215(185) totally does not belong on this line.

  6. easy:
    1: Sturmtiger
    2: French heavys
    .
    .
    .
    .
    3: British heavys
(but french or british medium is also good (or more brit tds))

  7. 1. sturmtiger
    2. european tree
    3. Brits Heavies

amx30 is just weaker leopard1 so i think we dont need that now

    • Not bothered by the European tree, rather each nation had its own tree even if the are tiny one line things.

  8. Sturmtiger.
European treen (this is a bit odd, as they will not be only 1 branch, even if they have only 1 top tier i’m sure there will be plenty of branches).

I’m a bit dissapointed the chinese TD will not come for at least 1 year.

Japanese TD could make my dissapoint be less painful.

  9. Sturmtiger of course! But to be fair the French/Brits should have extended lines as the German tree seems pretty full at the moment. More curious would be what premium tanks to expect in 2014.

    • T-44-85 for sure! :D

Otherwise… How about that H35 converted into a TD by the germans with a 47mm gun, Panzerjager 35R of something like that. Hope they didn’t scrap it.

  10. I don’t get why thet but new trees to the game, when they can’t get all types of branches to one three (ehem CHINESE!)

  11. Europe for sure. There will not be Finnish tanks, but Swedish are ok for me. French heavies are second for sure. And third… Japanese heavies. Might bring something new into game. But it’s actually really difficult to choose, all branches are good.

  12. Going for Japanese HT. Tanks bigger then Maus? Yes please!

Then French HT as French Fries should get some love.

And then of course Europeans. I want my Fiat tanks!

    • Release day for European branch:

WG’s preview video depicts sexy, Italian girls going crazy over a tanker driving a Fiat. And then Paul Revere bursts in with his passionate line “No! Wait… its THE ITALIANS! THE ITALIANS ARE COMING!”

  13. Something for the Brits, Frogs and Japs would be nice, as their tech trees are the barest so far.
    Which i don’t mind.

NOTE: All shortened names for people of different nationalities are used in a general manner, not in an offensive one.

    • Nope, that won’t do.
It’s same as using n words for African descent people because you want to use shortened form.

  14. The british MT line includes the famous Sherman Firefly? If yes, they got my 1st vote.
2nd for European Tree – because we were waiting way too long for polish, italian & czech tanks;(
3rd for British TD – if includes Archer with his unique gameplay (gun in rear – fastest ever retreat backward after shot)

    • Oh BTW, what’s the point of Sturmtiger?
Seriously you always choose the most OP tank & the biggest gun.
Because you kids want to Pwn easier, one-shoot enemies, without the need to use skill.
WoT Sturmtiger = CoD 4 noob tube. Loved by worst n00bs, hated by all others.

      • I Just want to drive it. I drive a lot of tanks just because they are historic, they were icons of the WW2, so I enjoy to play them, even if some of them are UP. But, they give me fun, and thats what I look for in a game, I dont care about stats or clanswars so much, I enjoy lot of games even if I lose.

It’s just that I have a job to be competitive, in Wot I like to enjoy my spare time, I like to win, but that’s secondary. =)

Could give the historic armor and been a paper armor in tier 10, but it’s a real tank, something that Tier10 lacks specially in german tree =)

  15. 1. European tree
    2. French MT (AMX-30)
    3. French HT

The reason for wanting the French HT and MT lines is simple: Those are the oldest promises of WG that weren’t added to the game yet. Also, AMX-30 is another Leopard-like vehicle and I like the Leo.

  16. WG posted that there will be 2-3 regular trees MAX.

Interpretation: WG has changed its minds plenty of times before, so this is not a hard rule.

  17. SturmTiger all the way!!!

But that’s just because I’m a German TD nutcase like that.

    1) Sturmtiger
    2) British Heavy (Chieftan)
    3) French Heavy, no autoloader (Simply because I hate all things autoloader lol)

  18. 1 – EU tree, even at the cost of every other option
    2 – Brit heavies – because it’ll hopefully have a CW-capable t10
3 – German assault guns. Why? German vehicles are in a large percentage historical, therefore eligible for historical battles. And on terms which don’t pit them against on-par Soviet or American gear. The wort thing that a german tank can encounter in a HB (assuming WG keeps it historical) is a stock ISU, IS-2 and pershing with a short 90.

    Well, maybe a Supershing.

    • To keep it historical, the main AT(Anti Tank) ammo of the Super Pershing(usual Pershing later during war too, but I am not 100% sure about this) is represented by APCR. So yea, feel free to be penetrated bt 243 mm of pen… Oh and do not forget that you wil be outnumbered like 4+ to one for historical reasons too….
I just don’t get it: why ppl want this historical mode so much.

    • That sounds like Bitish Medium line too me…
But they could put it into TDs, which would fit it’s sulggish, tweaked and unstabilised turret. Will probably be a tier 6.

  19. What I DO want to see.

    1. EU Tree.
    2. British heavies.
    3. Japanese heavies.

Looking foreward to the german assault gun line, but let’s be fair the germans have been getting a lot of attention lately and have a pretty darn impressive and diverse tree currently.

Also, for fun, what I absolutely DO NOT want to see.
    1. More T-54 clones, or other USSR brawlers meds that all play the same.
    2. More fricking pixie-dust high tier auto-loaders.

  20. Hard choice… Hmmmm… Ok, what looks most promising for me: vickers mbt, chieftain and french heavies. CAN I HAZ PLZ? *_*

  21. Chieftain…AMX 30…. All pretty cool vehicles, but make them tier 14 or something like that. And if it’s going to be tier 10, put the Maus down 1-2 tiers and change entire tech trees to make the trees correct….

Seriously, how are they going to balance vehicles from the ’60s to late-war/post-war vehicles?

    • They will simply do the same as with Leopard 1… tank from the 60s with horrible armor because it doesn’t have the reactive armor on. They will probably do the same with AMX30 and Chieftain, but dont forget that Chief will be a heavy tank, if and when they implement it.

      • That would make sense. I wonder how they will implement the guns. WG stated the won’t add smoothbore guns to the game (too powerful), but how powerful will the rifled guns be? I think their is already some powercreep going on in higher tiers, no need to push that line further IMO.

  22. 1. British turretted tank destroyers (possibly the Conway, FV4005)
    2. British heavies (Chieftain prototype)
    3. French mediums (AMX-30)

  23. i voted for japanese tanks, then i decided for sturmtiger.
i dont want want european tree ingame, because it sounds silly.

  24. i want Japanese heavies

im curious of the tier 10 it is supposed to be along the lines of the e100 and maus

  25. 1. American medium tanks (I want the Walker Bulldog!)
    2. Sturmtiger
    3 British Medium tanks.

  26. British mediums (Vickers MBT)
    British heavies (Chieftain prototype)
British turretted tank destroyers (possibly the Conway, FV4005)

  27. also i think wargaming has said there will be only one nation added next year (when the japanese tree was scheduled for 2014) i dont think we will see the Eu tree untill 2015

  28. 1) French mediums
    2) USA mediums
    3) British mediums

Yes i love medium tanks. I think im the only one that voted for all 3 :(

  29. Jap Heavies, British meds and French heavies.

We’ve had enough of German and Soviet love allready.

    • Dude, what european website? O.o You do know this blog is read by anybody, from America, to Asia and Australia… this isnt WG forums….

      • You do know that SS is from the EU and most of the people that read it are not from the US, right?

  30. Lol

French heavies (without autoloader, havily armored turret)

    Misspelled heavily

Choose German TD, Euro tree and Japanese heavy.

I like heavy and big things.

  31. Pls, choose the French ones, I’m tired of seen that small branch having less tank’s that the “newer” British tech tree…

And also, I whant the Japanese’s Tank Destroyer’s

  32. European tree
    French heavy and medium tree

It’s about fucking time those get out of the oven, the sturmtiger will just be victim of the hype too, like the sturer emil.

  33. 1. British Heavy
    2. Japanese Heavy
    3. French Heavy

I’m a heavy guy (no, I mean the tank, not the weight) so I inclined on these tanks. But my other 3 choices are US, UK and French Meds.

  34. If I have to be bloody honest? Chinese TDs and the T-64 Heavy Tank (Chinese T9).
But otherwise, brits, french and EU

  35. Speaking from personal experience;

the constant implementation of new lines is the best incentive to play the game. New line means a x5 and some new challenges as you learn to fight the new line of vehicles. If they stopped implementing new lines every few weeks; I doubt I’d play as much.

  36. British heavies (Chieftain prototype)
British turretted tank destroyers (possibly the Conway, FV4005)
    German third TD line (Sturmtiger)

    Its so simple :3

  37. British mediums (Vickers MBT)
    British heavies (Chieftain prototype)
British turretted tank destroyers (possibly the Conway, FV4005)

  38. Most of all, I think, I want American LT extensions (Walker Bulldog line).

Out of those in the poll, I picked US meds, Euros, French HT.

  39. We have enough nazi tanks, we dont need more. Unlike we dont have that much French, Chinese and English machines..

  40. 1. Third German TD line
    2. Second British Medium line
    3. Japanese Heavys

    Any news on Japanese SPGs?

  41. I don’t get it why you even add the eurpean tree as a choice since most people who visit this site are europeans and will vote for it.

  42. We just GOT a new German TD line, why are people so hard-on for Sturmtiger line? We need French tanks, they haven’t gotten an update in forever. More Japanese tanks to fill out their bare-bones starting line-up is also good.

    • because they are actually historical vehicles that saw a decent amount of use? idk, that’s usually a common reason.

  43. British mediums (Vickers MBT) – Brits need spice, particularly the heavys.
French heavies (without autoloader, heavily armored turret) -French need a line not focused on armorless autoloader tanks.
German third TD line (Sturmtiger) – If it would be possible to use them in a short range arty role (small hills),
    otherwise the Brit Conway line.

  44. It’s a real shame it would take so much time for new branches to appear.
How many did we have this year? 7 new branches (including the upcoming Japanese) and 1 more top vehicle for an old branch. Not to mention the arty revamp.

I really hoped for Chinese TDs since I (maybe naively) expect them to actually have a medium class top vehicle, somewhat like SU-122-54 on T10.

Well I guess the Japanese will get some new vehicles as soon as possible, rather unlikely for Germans to get another TD line so close after the other, but someone of the devs promised Sturmtiger for 2014 so what the heck…

  45. Voted for:
    1. French Med Tree
    2. Eurotree
    3. SturmTD’s

I really want some more French meds, the whole french tree hasn’t been touched in so long, and we still don’t even have the S35 yet (aside from the german version)

  46. British Heavy, British Medium and French Medium, we definitely need to start expanding those nations. Although I am curious of everything in the list, I don’t want the game to turn into more high alpha TD fest as it already is.

  47. wow so little people voted for British Mediums………………………… :( ME WANT FIREFLY!!!!!!!

    Serb: How terrible….

  48. Sturm TDs why? because it’s about damn time. and they got one model already made.
French Heavies Why? Because the current french heavy line is more comparable to Mediums then Heavies.
European Tree Why? gives a good building block for 2015

  49. I was going to vote for all but the Euro tree, but only 3 I voted for was French Medium and Heavy lines and the British Heavy line.

  50. My picks:

US second med branch (that would be the only one I would consider grinding to the top probably)
British medium branch (assuming it contains the Firefly).
Something French (not that want like them so much, but it’s about time they get some love)

I suspect at least 2 of dose will indeed appear in 2014, I think these are the most likely options.

  51. German third TD line (Sturmtiger)
    British heavies (Chieftain prototype)
    Japanese heavies

  52. British heavies (Chieftain prototype)
French heavies (without autoloader, havily armored turret)
    American mediums (T95 MT)

  53. Freedom called: AMX 65t, AMX 30, T95.

Anything else and you’re a commie. Or a Nazi. Or both.

  54. LOL. Nice trolling SS. Making these poor saps believe that the European tree could be implemented in their lifetimes. :-D

  55. Pls. NOT the Europan, German TD, and French AMX30 – because im still finishing my other lines.

  56. American mediums
    American mediums
    American mediums
    American mediums
    American mediums
    American mediums
    American mediums

    and

    American mediums

    :)

  57. Voted for Sturmtiger, French Heavies, and Japanese Heavies.

Sturmtiger line because I want slow heavy armored tanks with big HE guns.
French Heavies because the French line needs some serious LOVE. Nobody can really argue that they are not needed in game.
Japanese Heavies because I think it would be very interesting line to play although Japanese TD’s would also be fine but we just got a new TD line with the Germans so I would rather have something different.

The real reason I want the Sturmtiger line is because I want to cruise at 20kph around Himmelsdorf in the Brummbär acting like my trusty StPz II and blast things. TheBrummbär fired the same shells as the 15 cm sIG 33 heavy infantry gun used on the StPz II and other German SPGs.

  58. Last two lines have had been Soviet, German, meanwhile the patch up includes a 3rd Soviet medium line and the Japanese medium line. Feels like 2014 for WoT will round out news lines for the British, French, Americans. How about the Soviet and Germans? Expect to see new Light tanks for each. Every current tree gets something… perhaps even the Chinese, a tier 10 light?

What about the European Tree, when might it?
January 2015, a year after the Japanese tank tree is released.

    My guess is:
British Medium line, not including the Chieftain.
American Medium line, T95 medium. Perhaps so to go with the later Xbox release?
    French Medium line.

Seems like Wargaming is holding onto the 2nd French Heavy for a combination of reasons:
    1. Business reasons
    2. A stop gap finished new tank line, to be introduced if deadlines are not met in time. A Plan B.
    3. If the On the Track series are a clue, expect new Light tanks by the middle of June 2014.

If a French Heavy line is planned to arrived? Seems like thematically it would fit better coming before the tier 10 light tanks do.

    • I could see it (FHTL) being used as a stop gap in case some other deadline has slipped. But if that were the case I wish they never spoke of the line being modeled and mostly ready in the first place. It would be better from a PR point to have it be a surprise rather then a long, long, long, long, drawn out process.

  59. European Tree no doubt. British turretted tank destroyers are interesting, hope there will be Firefly Sherman.

    • 17pdr SP Achilles
Self Propelled 17pdr, Valentine, Mk I, Archer
      Schofield tank
and maybe an SP 17pdr, A30 (Avenger)(Its a lighter, open topped version of the Cruiser Mk VIII Challenger”

Would love to see all of them in game.

Mostly the Archer. Low to the ground, powerful gun and an admittedly low top speed. But I would take it.

      • archer would suck.
max tier 4, armor shouldnt be very effective. top speed 24 km/h, but even worse: you have crusader sp-like controls. only good thing on it is 17 pounder, but even with it it would be max. tier 4. and still be annoying to play

        • You mean tier 5. The Sfl. IVc with 194 penn sits at tier 5. For the 17 ponder in game here is the penn. 171/239/38.

so you have to learn to drive. boo hoo. Its not that hard.

  60. Sturmtiger is going to be really really funny and troll too. When i see someone die by it i will laught, when i die, killing by it i think i will broken my computer. If i have and i have heat and bounce i will broke my keyword like the famous children :). But i want to see this:
Q: STURMTIGER IS SO OVERPOWERED IT CAN KILL ANY TANK WITH ONE SHOOT OF HEAT
A: HOW TERRIBLE, WORKING AS INTENDED, SORRY WE FORGET ASK YOUR OPINION

    http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb322/Aaron_Grimsley/serb-1hv6jk.jpg

  61. Surprisingly low amount of votes for the Brit turreted TD line, especially after so much ranting over the Sherman Firefly…

  62. British heavies (Chieftain prototype)
    Japanese TDs
    Japanese heavies

British heavies we have now are not strong enough
And I think developing well in Japanese Tree is needed before European Tree comes

  63. hi,

guess there are enough TDs in the game – at the moment ^^.. so

    1. EU Tree
    2. British heavies
    3. French heavies

  64. -japanese heavy tanks
-german td line(please include the sturmtiger and his 380mm canon)
    -european tech tree

  65. Britská média (Vickers MBT)
    Britská heavies (Chieftain prototyp)
Britská turretted Stíhače tanků (případně Conway, FV4005)
    Francouzské nosiče (AMX-30)
Francouzské Heavies (bez autoloaderu, havily obrněná věžička)

  66. 1. French 2nd Heavy : Love to see AMX M4 1949 and AMX 65t.
    2. Japanese Heavy : Curious about what “thing” bigger than Maus in action
    3. Hard choice betwwen AMX-30 and T95 MT, but seem AMX-30 will likely Leo1 anyway, so i pick T95 MT

  67. European Tree definitely! Then I would go for the french heavies and the japanese heavies.

  68. 1. French heavies (without autoloader, havily armored turret)
    2. Japanese heavies
    3. British mediums (Vickers MBT)

    and that’s all!

  69. Voted Japanese TD line cause they had some interesting vehicles. 3rd german TD line? Seriously…

  70. German light wheeled Tanks

    Sd.Kfz 222
    Sd.Kfz 231
    Sd.Kfz 232
    Sd.Kfz 233
    Sd.Kfz 234 1 – 4 – “Puma” a must have in German Line

Sd.Kfz 8 Flak 18 “Bunkerknacker” as Premium TD

    Sturmtiger and Brumbär

  71. German third TD line (Sturmtiger)
British turretted tank destroyers (possibly the Conway, FV4005)
    American mediums (T95 MT)

  72. Hello,

    1. French Mediums
    2. French Heavies
    3. Japanese Heavies

There is no point in adding more german, british, or american tanks, because they already have many models.

  73. British Mediums, Japanese Tank Destroyers/Faux Panzerjagers, and the American Medium Line. The reason Im saving the Chieftain, is because the Chieftain could be put into ANOTHER nation’s tech tree (Will never be implemented, but it could be a ‘kewl idea’)…Ill give you two hints:
-Starts with an I (Pronounced as an E)
-Was the only country in the Middle East to purchase Chieftains.

  74. French heavies (without autoloader, havily armored turret)
    French mediums (AMX-30)
    American mediums (T95 MT)

  75. European Tech Tree( historical battles with diversity will improve the game i think)
British HT (hope Chieftain will restore honor to UK tree)
    German TD’s Sturmtiger troll :X

  76. British Tank Destroyer FV4005(YAY I LOVE 183 AUTOLOADER CERTAINLY)
    French Mediums (AMX 30)
Heavy Armored French Heavy(someone told me to add this so…)

  77. Jap heavies, the Cheiftain and whilst I would prefer the Conway line, I think the French badly need some more tank, so French meds.

  78. British mediums (Vickers MBT)
    British heavies (Chieftain prototype)
British turretted tank destroyers (possibly the Conway, FV4005)

  79. Europe
    French HT
    American MT

I also want French mediums, but if I had to please the most people and add the most interesting content, it would be this way. Those French heavies look like a potential BRANCH of hediums, which hasn’t been done yet.

American mediums are kinda needed in the sense that branch sucks now — even the E50M is more CW viable than a M60.

I suppose you could say the same of the Brit medium, but that branch needs to be FIXED, they don’t need to add a NEW one.

  80. And hell, ditto for the British heavy branch. Just SACK the incredibly unhistorical / paper 215b HT and add in a Chieftain prototype that way.
