“16 tons of sheer power.”
wat.
I mean, it didn’t suck, but it wasn’t anything like a feared tank.
More like an anorectic version of the T-34.
Well… everything is a feared tank when the other side has only 19th century rifles – like most of Africa had.
I’ve been wondering for a while, didn’t the value of Crusader and other out-dated light cruiser tanks increase, when most armies transitioned to mostly unarmored MBTs, since portable powerful HEAT weapons became so common ? I mean, for countries still employing them.
I am not aware of any countries still using the Crusader or other WW2 tanks in active service (the last time I heard of such a thing was the T-34 tanks in Angola in 80′s). Plus, the modern MBT’s are not as vulnerable to the HEAT weapons. And of course ther is the problem that everything from WW2 is simply 70 years old: there is wear and tear, metal won’t hold out forever etc.
Thanks for you answer. :) Actually I was thinking more about the late ’40s and ’50s period, when WW2 tanks, even obsolete ones, were still much demanded by countries needing fast tanks protecting – like you say – against only small caliber weapons.
Well there was the yugoslavia Hellcats from the 90′s but iirc even those have been retired.
The king must really like playing at tier 5! :)
Probably the usual morning in Jordan…
Servant: Sire, how did your WoT session go last night?
King: Fine, fine… just bought a Crusader.
loool
“…the usual morning in Jordan…” thats something for Peter Andre to look back on;o)
LOL Jokes aside, we need more kings/presidents(….) to play digital war instead of real.
Also Crusader is kinda great(in-game).
The Fite me in real life threats on the forums would be … interesting.
Imo Crusader isn’t that great in WoT. But in CoD it was motherfucker :D I think it was CoD 2.
Wow, you just reminded me that CoD used to be set in WWII. So long ago.
:D
You should see what two elite Crusaders with 100% camo skill can do. Myself and a mat took up positions in a bushes about 100m Apart on Westfield. The enemy team had stomped our heavies and came swarming out of the town. It was like something out of a WWI battle, with hordes of Germans charging a Vickers gun.
SA(F) soldier in second row is scratching his eye during anthem singing. Very disciplined army.
Look at the lady picking her nose in the back aswell.
actually they were scratching their noses.
LOL thats our news and i didnt know about it :)
but anyway. there must be close to 100 crusaders, Cromwell, comets etc lying around in SA. there is one at nearly every MOTH shell hole we have.
also post 1994 our armed forces are a little bit of a joke so discipline is non existent.
might as well visit the museum and see it :D
I wish I had a real Crusader I think its such a cool tank to bad the brits poorly built it
It certainly wasn’t poorly built, it just wasn’t designed to cope with desert conditions where it prodominantly saw action.
The German tanks were also not designed for the desert conditions.
That must be why it came with a deck MG turret so superfluous it was almost universally removed and the patently stopgap M3 Lee/Grant was a genuine improvement.
Hehehe, our military might here in South Africa is anemic to say the least…
Handing over that Crusader might just impact the SANDF’s ability to train tankers ;-)
Are we talking about the lot that got roundly trounced by the Cubans in Angola a few decades back?
“effort to bring the two countries together.”
That must be some kind of engine….
