Micropatch – Confirmed for Friday

Hello everyone,

an odd thing happened. Russian and EU info do not fit one another. Either way, according to this link from the German community (thanks to Phobos86 for the info), it is confirmed that the hotfix micropatch will come on Friday, 25.4.2014 – from 6 AM, the server will not be available for cca 45 minutes.

The micropatch will bring the following:

- fixed several bugs, that caused the client to crash
- fixed the bug, where the player got “stuck” on “Updating tankers” screen in the hangar, that happened when a player accepts platoon invitation, requiring him to relog to another server and certain other circumstances
- fixed the bug (or rather, significantly mitigated) where the game “freezes” for a short time after the destruction of enemy tank
- the turret being ripped off by ammo rack explosion effect got strongly optimized
- fixed the bug, where IS-3 destroyed model had red (“texture missing”) texture on its gun
- fixed the rare bug, where sometimes, when buying temporary camo and decals, some gold was removed from the account

Why am I saying it’s odd? Because this morning, Storm wrote in his post that even he is not sure when the hotfix is ready. Apparently, the EU section is of different opinion.

  1. The micropatch will also bring the following:

    - breaking half the mods
    - more lags

          • Once you tried a gnomefather sound mod you will never go back to the old sounds.

            • Gnomefather’s sound mod? No thank you, I hate sound mods… I rather crank up my Iron Maiden discography and enjoy WoT that way… without the need of mods :)

            • gnomefather sounds are, IMHO, not the best sounds around. BTW when I tried it, it had problems with location of sounds (tank 100 metres away exploded as it was standing right beside you) and to me, it all sounded like horrible mess of sounds and noises (and i did used the version without radio chat).

However I agree the default sound are truly tragic – you get penned for 700 HP and it sound as someone has thrown a loaf of bread against a wall… I use very few mods thru my WoT career but sound mod is always the first thing to do after update.

            • I had Gnome’s gun and engine sound mods in 8.11 Haven’t put in the effort to check if he is updated to 9.0 yet. I am still playing perfectly fine without gnome’s sound mods.

          • I know right! It’s as stupid as redecorating a house you just bought! I mean why buy it if it’s not already perfect right? Right? Oh…

xD *troll mode off* couldn’t resist. The sound mods improve immersion, minimap mods simulate the reality of there being a guy dedicated to do that, xvm simulates pre battle Intel briefings. That’s how I see it and it increases my enjoyment of the game. So yeah when they pull stuff like introduce a 600 calibre shell type for an April’s fool that subsequently breaks a load of extendable scripting, it’s frustrating. Karl was fun but was it worth it?

            • About the Karl, yes, it was worth since it was the ultimate stress reliever..

And about mods: improve immersion? Only if you personally like it, xvm? Too much info on screen, makes it much more frustrating to play with it.

    • Last time when this happened, the “micropatch” brought us the Karl – Gnomefather wasn’t ready for it so that’s why the mod got borxed.

This time around, no new vehicle is added so more than likely, the mod won’t suffer for it.

As for the lag…dunno what to say, I just hope they fix the damned fps drop while in sniper view, drops from 45 to 15 in my case :(

Holy shit, I just had that yesterday.

  3. Storm said this morning that he doesn’t know when the patch is coming out.
Later that morning development team stated that they are ready to publish the patch on Friday.
After that announcement, nRichochet made a post about the update on Friday.
    Nothing strange about it.

  4. offtopic while we are talking about bugs…

did you guys notice the craters on ruinberg ?
It’s since 8.10 – if you run straight forward to that crater your tank will stop.. its like invisible wall.
Pretty strange and very annoying … 30cm high pile of mud stopping 60 tons at 60km/h ….

  5. “- fixed several bugs, that caused the client to crash”

So is this the crash where you are sent to the desktop and are unable to rejoin the game?

  6. Don’t fix the fps issues, that’s fine. Setting the affinity to all cores is my solution to the problem.

  7. Strangely enough, I got better performance in 9.0 than in 8.11.
Maybe it’s some graphics optimizations made for AMD A-type chips.

Up to 8.9 I used improved graphics, albeit at low settings, getting a playable 15-25 fps, with drops to slugish 7-10.
With Update 8.11, FPS dropped to 10-15 with drops as low as 2-4 when too many bushes and trees (“too many” being 30 on screen), which forced me to drop into Standard graphics, lower all resolutions to Off/Minimum and install compressed textures and effects-killer mods. And still I had to stand 12-20 fps with drops below 10 when trees were present or while entering sniper sight.
Come 9.0, and I’m getting again 15-25 fps with 10-17 drops on sniper scope and 10-15 while too many (50+) trees are on screen, with Improved graphics, high model resolution and minimal-low settings.
I just compressed textures yesterday (50%) and killed most extra effects, to see if I can squeeze a little more performance.

I just find it ironic that many people are getting less performance and my lap got a boost…. but such is life.
