  1. this looks pretty awesome, but from the video i can tell that not every building will be destructable (that’s a shame)

        • I think people got so hyped up for Watch Dogs and then when it came out they were disappointed is it a bad game no is it as good as the trailers and hype No.

          • I played Watch_Dogs the complete day yesterday and I think it’s awesome … just awesome … thats why i don’t watch trailers or watch this rendered screenshots!

        • Basically the E3 demonstration on stage made it seem like a lot more than it is now. In addition to that release was postponed and a couple of features were cut out.

Not to mention the graphical quality was seriously lowered and has some very noticeable performance issues. Day 1 patches to fix things that proper quality control should’ve caught.

There are many flaws with it, sure it’s probably a good and enjoyable game. But the publisher did many things wrong, with marketing and probably pushing the developer for an early release (resulting in feature cuts).

  2. Graphics wise it looks sweet..It uses CryEngine after all. And CryEngine is also alot more optimized than BigWorld engine. But the physics motions look kinda cheap and doesnt feel like it has any weight.

Hope they succeed. I always wanted a modern tanks WoT.

    Interesting interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTxlvdMFNuo

        • No, there is bias towards the Russians and against the Germans. Some exceptions, such as the T110E5 being more effective than the IS-7,do not constitute a bias towards US vehicles.

          • This game is Russian bias because on most tiers the Russians get out performed by everyone!!

      • Funny, I always knew that the outrage and twisted panties over the so called Russian-bias, was indeed simply because it was “Russian” -bias.

But then again hypocrisy is not something unexpected.

      • We already have overperforming murican tanks: T18, M18, T29, T49, M53/55, M4, T57… Do you even wot, bro?

    • You can still make terribad games with CryEngine, just look at MWO as an example, low res models, low res textures, very basic effects and just not making use of the engines capabilites at all. The developers are severely lacking and thats why MWO died so fast.

    • i would forgive them for having a kinda “cheap” physics engine at the moment, its not even in beta i believe, and they would probably just be placeholder models…

      • yeah, i think the explosión are a little over the top..
i mean, he drove over two cars/truck and they exploded hard, what where they, firework company delivery trucks?.

also the houses broke too evenly on impact, looked more like a demolition charge in the middle than a shot that came from the side.

i’ll wait and see, i dont want another arcade tank game with limiting and retarded mechanics

  3. Well im signed up for the beta, now to wait. If it has similar progression mechanics as WoT it might just be a killer, since the CryEngine is superior to the bigworld engine, done properly the gameplay experience will be better by default.

  4. Well the Cryengine mean no good news for wooden rigs that run even now WoT @ 10 fps on low, but atleast that will filter out the scrubs alot.

We saw only pretty explosions with obviously no havoc engine and a few map locations. Gotta say the havoc destrution we saw so far from WoT developers was much much more eye pleasant and realistic…

I mean holy fuck a tank shell into a big two floors high house wont just totaly destroy it in a Michael Bay like explosion… Maybe with a HE artylery shell, but shit…

    • CryEngine is better optimized than WoT’s Bigworld. Just saying.
Before 9.0 WoT ran pretty well for me. In 9.0 I had to switch to 2001-style graphics just for it to run any good. That was the point I gave up on playing.
Meanwhile – WT air plays on high, WT GF runs on medium. In terms of CryEngine I could play Crysis 1 and 2 no problem. Same with MW:O. Can’t say I recall playing any other CryEngine games. But yeah, they all ran better than WoT, while looking better too.

    • Pretty Explotions? Really? Do you mean that cheap looking popping effects? If that should be pretty explosions….i have no words…

And about Havok (it writes with “K”), Cryengine has his own physics engine, don’t need another (external) one.

They just need to work more on it, improve physics, effects etc… but of course its pre-alpha or whatever, and its hard to say more, from one video.

    • Considering CryEngine is more optimized than BigWorld is I would say you should have no worries.

    • My laptop runs WoT on minimum settings at 20 FpS… but I run Crysis 2 at 35. go figure.

  5. AW so far from that interview :

    - is being developed by Obsidian Entertaniment as a free MMO triple A title.
    - it’s a modern tactical shooter that cocentrates on modern vehicles. Starting with vehicles from the late 1950′s all the way to the latest and greatest tanks today.
    - tank models will be as accurate as possible
    - Game modes : team vs team, player vs player, cooperative.
    - the game will not lock you on a fixed progression
    - there will be tons of tanks added. I the end they aim to add every existing tank from the modern area to the game.
    - it will not feature just MBT’s but also : armored fighting vehicles, recon vehicles, SPG’s, artillery Each with it’s own strengths and weakness.
    - they have a big long period plan of adding new content to the game.
    - developers are very looking forward to community suggestions (what they dont like, what they want changed etc.).
    - they aim for a very high quality looking game

    • I love tank games, and I love how WoT inspired the copy-cats. I just hope it wouldn’t be to the same effect as with the thousands of lame WoW clones and we get decent games.
If AW would survive and be playable, in essence we’ll be able to play with tanks from the 30s – present times, and that is something I’d be looking forward to.

Only thing that worries me is if AW would completely ignore some of us with our multi-tasking calculators.

        • yes it is..and it is so obvius it hurts..they just wan’t the WOT money..now i’m not saying that WOT doesn’t have they issuess but i think they are going in right direction in 9.1..but this shit same as WTGF and yes those tanks are shit i played them..even if they have better engines and all of that they game’s are weakeer in many ways..i just hope it is good for those guys who wan’t modern tanks and all explosions ;) but hype over a video is pointless until u can try the game

          • Whatever you say troll. -.- You are stating nothing but lies. Delude yourself all you want. Facts > BS.

      • WoT did not invent the video game, it did not invent he tank, and it most certainly did not invent the online tank shooter. Just as easy examples from before WoT : Battlefield, CoD.
WoT made one major innovation, pure tank combat in a free to play MMO, except that…

        • and WG did it with horrible arcade mechanics, people flocked to it because there wasn’t anything else so you just “dealt with it”

i hope AW goes WTGF realistic way instead of clown-tank WOT way

    • An HP system with modules have been confirmed. I recommend going through the forums.

        • You want a decent realistic modern sim? Oh boy! – it’d be so fun watching your fire-control computer put shots into targets at ranges exceeding 2 kilometers. -__- at least the British tanks would allow you to brew a cup of tea while it’s happening :D
But seriously, I have absolutely no problem with arcade shooting, realism does not always result in fun :)

          • i find it fascinating to have to configure and set/use/lock the firing computer and see them BLOW in screen, i could do that ALL DAY(btw, you already do that with arty in wot, yu have a fake sat view, your “firing computer” aims for the target and you kill them beyond their ability to retaliate)
and even with FCS shots can still miss if gun is not properly boresighted/wind not typed correctly.

            realism IS fun, it’s automatic.

  6. I find it interesting that the two other tank games that came (Or in this case coming out) out after WoT are not directly competing with it.
WTGF goes for a realistic approach, which makes it entirely different from what WoT is.
Armored Warfare goes for modern tanks, which will also be entirely different from how WoT plays.

I wonder how realistic the battles in Armored Warfare will be, because from memory modern tanks are pretty much very agile, perfectly accurate glasscannons.

    • I guess they’ve taken their lessons from all the failed WoW clones out there. You don’t compete with an established giant like WoW or WoT. Much more sensible if you want to be succesful to find your own niche.

      • To be fair, I’d put them into the same genre.
They can be compared on a general level, just like you’d compare UT, BF and CS.

      • Glass cannon refers to every current generation mbt being capable of taking the other out with a single round.

          • Well crap, Germany has a problem then, because the Leopard can be easily penetrated by any other current generation MBT.

I’d wish we had Corbomite armor, too. :/

            • The newest version of leopard 2 is considered one of the best tanks in the world due to the technology in it. It is unbelievably quiet relative to other tanks (proxy spot is super low). It might also appear to have “thin” armor on paper but I’ve read that the HEAT protection on turret is upwards of ~2000mm.

              • Who cares about the protection of the turret? oO
Modern tanks have perfect accuracy, gunners are trained to hit the turret ring and that will always result in the tank being disabled/destroyed.

            • They’ll have the Leopard 2, which is certainly not badly armoured. :D
Although I’m interested to see how they’re going to balance the tanks, since things like the Challenger 2, the Abrams and the Leopard 2 are very similar.
Personally I’d go for the leopard being the fastest, with the least armour, the Challenger being the opposite and the Abrams being somewhere in the middle, but that’s just my opinion, and to be honest I don’t know much about the vehicles in question :D

              • As written above, in today’s tank on tank combat armor has lost it’s importance.
It’s all about being the first to shoot, because the first shot fired decides a tank duel.

                • Also the yanks have DU penetrators (the silver thingy ones), all other nations dont.

btw in that famous friendly fire incident in Iraq back in 89, M1s proved unable to reliable kill themselves, even with DU sabot….

                • It’s called gunners losing their shit and forgetting their training.
In the 21st century with guns capable of shooting with perfect accuracy the only margin of error that remains is the gunner.

Again, as written above, gunners are trained to aim at a tank’s turret ring, which is unarmored and will always result in a tank either being disabled or destroyed.

    • I don’t expect German tanks fan boys to go hype over this game as it looks like another battlefield 4 game where American tanks will be OP as usual.

  7. Fair enough they’ve got some problems with lighting (look at that tank firing in the rain i.e.), but hell Wargaming must feel ashamed that AW already has:
    - Independent suspension wheels
    - Destructible terrain
    - Weather effects
    - Bettah engine :D

While the Belarussian are still slugging it out after 4 (?) years of development XDDD

    • WG’s fault for choosing an engine which sucks ass. They cant make bigger maps because THE ENGINE CAN’T HANDLE IT YET.

        • you do realize that the big world engine was the only engine the back than poor wg founders could afford? At least according to them.
You forget how far that “bad” engine has come till today:
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdrdLpiYnL8
An judging by what some modders did to the Stalker engine in Lost alpha, big world engine is far from done.
          mfg eX

          • >you do realize that the big world engine was the only engine the back than poor wg founders could afford?

no not really, it was the most cost efficient solution. They easily could used solutions like the cryengine or unreal, hell the cryengine would be even free, they only would ask for royalties if there game would exceed a certain amount of revenue.

And they didn’t even had to do that, a even smaller company like PGI (MWO) could afford a license for the cryengine.

They chose the engine because it came as a whole package, with a complete server backend for MMOs, where things like unreal or cryengine are just and foremost render engines and it was quite cheap.

You also seem to think WoT was the first game from WG, while it was not. They had the financle means to get better engines, they just never bothered because why invest in something when something cheaper does the same job and history proves them right.

  8. Viable alternative to WoT. Small over lap from WoT to AW with the years involved, but I think both will have their hardcore followers, and I think quite a few will jump between the two. I certainly want to give it a go.

  9. Okay, WoT has the WW2 tank battles… but Armores Warfare can deserve the title of the tanks of these days. The graphics are really good…

  10. WG should develop a game with modern tanks, but the problem is the accuracy of the tank model. Yes, you can research where the crew seat, ammunition, and etc. except for the armor component. In WOT almost all tanks (WW1 to 1950s) are made of steel/metal, but in modern tanks (present) the component of the armor is different, for example the “3rd generation composite” of Leopard 2A6.

    Problem:
    - The accuracy of the tank model (How the tank was made and what material. Player can’t determine the thickness of the armor. All information of the modern tank’s armor are classified.)

    • You are actually a bit off. The ingredients used to make the armor is classified. But the base materials and the thicknesses of modern armor is actually common knowledge.

  11. A big slap on WarThunder. (◣ _ ◢)┌∩┐

Where’s your so called “realism” now WarThunder Ground Forces? Where’s the graphics you and your fanboys have been so proud of? Ha go to hell you fanboys. ArmoredWarfare is for the win. CryEngine for AW, let’s see the crappy rigs of WarThunder fags try to run that game. Haha!

Ofc AW would beat WoT on gfx, but we shall see on the intuiveness of the game and gameplay if AW can topple WoT. I have high hopes for ArmoredWarfare. WT GF is out of the comparison tho, a total bullshit of a game whose community is filled with kids similar to the fanboys of LoL and CoD.

    • Fuck Realism.
Realism is NOT BETTER then arcade gameplay. Too bad most kiddies today do not know that. And this is coming from both a Doom AND Arma fan…

      As for graphics it depends.
      OVerall I would say:
AW > WT GF > WoT

      Tank Models HD:
WoT = AW > WT GF

      Special Effects :
      AW> WT GF > WoT

      Textures (non hd)
AW > WT FG > WoT

Though all 3 have upgrade capability in terms of technology

    • If you can run War Thunder you will be able to run Armored Warfare. Sorry but CryEngine does not require beefy machines.

    • With this comment you just made the WoT community look like a bunch of “kids similar to the fanboys of LoL and CoD”.
Why do people always have to hate over WoT and WTGF (and now probably AW) like all the time?

I enjoyed WoT a lot and had a fun playing it but after some years it kinda wears out.

But hey, luckily there was WTGF and right now I’m playing nothing else because I enjoy it a lot, just like WoT when I started to play it.
I like the general playstyle and the nice looking graphics do their part to make it a nice game for me.

And as soon as AW goes into OBT (or if I’m invited to CBT) I will definitely have my fun with AW but at the same time continue enjoying WTGF and from time to time also play some matches in WoT.

      • Not worried about these players because it is most likely they never spend a cent or much money while playing WOT so their opinion doesn’t matter.

Also Armoured warfare is just another battlefield 4 game. Not going to waste my time playing this.

  12. Nice piece of info:
AW will have a hitpoints system, BUT you will be able to deal bonus damage if you shoot weakspots.
Ex: your gun does 100 damage every single time. You shoot a weakspot and you deal 125damage.

This could fix the 25%+/- in damage that wot has and it will reward good players for knowing weakspots.

  13. I dont know how they gonna handle the laser guided missiles that those smoothbore guns fire at that velocity lol

  14. Obisidian Entertainment = Experienced company with games like Swkotor, NWN2, Fallout NV.
Crytec Engine = Superior modern game engine, far better than the old Bigworld engine.
Western Developer = No rude, russian biased developers (like SerB) who adore Stalin.

I predict a worldwide success (maybe apart from chauvinistic Russia, but who cares).

    • Too bad they really are not competing. Either way nothing will change. Each of these companies would innovate just as much as they are doing if the others were not around.

      • AW looks to be the closest to WOT as it seems it will keep be an arcade game with modern tanks.

WTGF is on a different level of game, offering true tank battles as they should be.

  15. The American bias point is stupid, American tanks have a higher skill ceiling and many reward good play more than contemporary peers. And those same overperformers have been nerfed over time as a result. (T110, T57, M60, Hellcat, and of course the Legendary Trail of Tears which is the T30) Almost all of those tanks guilty of at-one-point being overpowered simply had the higher DPM’s versus peer tier/class vehicles. And over time, many of the highest-DPM tanks have often been the most overpowered, only to be nerfed.

At any rate, WWII gets old. I still lament the move away from it with CoD4 but really the problem with the devolution of CoD had to do with map size, weapon balance, and server decisions. (now it’s completed the transmogrification into a console game, ported to PC. A shame, really) But they appealed to mass market for big dollars; they got into consoles at a good time. It payed off.

And so it is with WoT, for different reasons. I would be content playing WoT longer, but for their decisions and lack of decisions over time, re: graphics improvement, compatability, matchmaking issues, bots, vehicle balance, arty, bait-and-switch release/nerf content cycles, etc. And of course, WG.net, too, has stated the game isn’t for “the min-maxing elitists” but casuals. I guess liking to win and having an idea about balance makes me a terrible customer.

The list goes on for their major and minor sins. They have had a lot of money and a long time to improve their product. They revealed a market for arena-based, multiplayer tank fragging and they will get no sympathy from me if they lose it. Personal belief is Russian server payments will keep it alive but I have no faith outside of that market, 2 even 1 year from now.

  16. WG needs invest more money in WOT and less in Ferraris… i dont pay to see Serb insulting the guys pay him, or they change A LOT or WOT is going to be a rusia solo game.

PD: i remember when they say a game with modern tanks is not easy to do trolololo looks like want do something is the point lol.

  17. Im a big fan of obsidian games, so i think i will spend money on AW. I play wot since 2011 and i have spent only 10 euros in the game cus wargaming dont deserve more than that

  18. Looks nice, but remember they’ve haven’t even started alpha yet, so it might be a year before we see this game go public.

  19. OMG!!!111
    ARMORED WARFARE KILLER OF WOT
guyz leave this sinking ship world of tanks armored warfare is the new tank game
    wargaming sux
