Weekly FTR Contributor Review

Hello everyone,

today marks the third time the Patreon subscription got successfully used, thank you all!

Out of the 548,5 USD pledged at that point:

- 526,5 USD came in successfully (the rest didn’t go through for some reason on the contributor side, insufficient funds on account etc.)
- out of 526,5 USD:

46,65 USD went to credit card fees
26,36 USD went to Patreon (service fee)

leaving 453,49 USD for FTR – much appreciated! The list of contributors can be viewed here.

And once again it’s the time to thank also the contributors, who donated via Paypal:

John L. (Norway)
Bhaarlem (Netherlands)
Aleš Š. (Czech Republic)
Brenthos (Israel) – thank you for the contribution as well as the nice message mate :)

The best way to help me and FTR is via the Patreon service

This is the Patreon account of For the Record. In case you read this for the first time and feel like contributing, here is an explanation what it is, how it works and how to contribute. You can find a list of all those, who pledged and help to keep FTR running here.

Thank you all!

  1. SS deserves all the money he can get. He is a real community contributer, unlike some fakers.

    All the best for SS.

  2. Now to be transpraent, you should also make it clear how much you spend on hosting, research etc.

    • Quite a lot. But tbh, no – how much I pay is my problem. By making these numbers public, it only opens doors to stuff like “why that and this and so much” and I really can’t be arsed to deal with that. It is how it is now – if you feel like I deserve money for the effort, contribute. If not, then don’t – everything is voluntary.

      • I still would like to have a rough idea of how your situation is.
I am aware of the fact that that might be counter-productive since stating “funds just were enough to pay everything” might prevent some people from supporting you.
I am quite broke right now so what i would personally like you to do is to just say when you get into serious financial trouble – in that case i might revisit my coffee consumption and start contributing ;)

tl;dr: the impression is you are doing fine now financially – if you get in trouble just say so.

        • Rough situation is: the Patreon funds go to site upkeep (roughly, sometimes, there is a bit left, sometimes not), the funds donated by Paypal I keep (usually like 10 Euro per week, sometimes more). I am fine with the situation, I don’t do FTR to get rich. The important part is not to bleed money in the process.

  3. Even by contributing 1 dollar a month (like I do, cheapskate) you help this website tremendously. “Pfff, what will ONE dollar do? :DDD”. Not much alone but let’s view it this way: 500 people contribute 1 dollar. You will not even notice it’s gone from your bank account but I guess Silentstalker WILL notice those 500 one dollar contributors (not individually ofc but you know what I mean).
SS, thank you for introducing this easy and quick way of supporting you. I’ve read your website for about during all the time it’s been there and I really can’t count all the facepalms and/or laughs I’ve had here. Thanks again, keep up the good work :)
