An Interview with WG Berlin Office Reps

Source: http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/StephenJacobs/20140612/219159/DDay_at_Wargaming_Berlin.php

Hello everyone,

so, how many of you guys knew that Wargaming has an office in Berlin as well? It’s not very exposed to us players, because it deals mostly with business and communications (PR), Stephen Jacobs from the Gamasutra site managed to visit it and ask Tom Putzki (Head of the office), Ingo Horn (Director of Communications) and Rico Nemetz (PR manager) a few questions. The post brings very little new, but some points are interesting.

Here is the summary of the post:

- in last two years, Wargaming grew cca 10 times
- it has 15 international offices, 1500 developers and 1500 other employees
- the sum of players playing all WG titles is cca 100 million
- WoWs, WoT and WoWp will “share economy”, WoT Xbox however is separate and so is WoT Blitz (mobile WoT)
- WG supports numerous side projects: War Child charity, USS Iowa Education Center and others
- the recovered German warplane WG helped to finance will be moved to Royal Air Force Museum and exhibited there in 2015
- it’s possible that after “earth” (WoT), “air” (WoWp) and “water” (WoWs) are “conquered”, “space” is next (post mentions the Total Annihilation and Master of Orion franchises)
- Occulus Rift support for WoT? “Not anytime soon, 50 percent of the test group got motion sickness”

    • At least we know now who the Socketpuppet-Account Nemetzki is in german WOT-Forum.

He’s famous for his very stupid fanboy posts – he always refused just to be Socketpuppet or a provocation-whore as I call it – but as usual with WG-Employees, he’s also not very smart.

Having nearly no games but is posting the whole time in forum… who is interested in the forum but not in the game? Right, it must be a jackass from WG Europe :)

      • hi Astronus..boring on EU-com?..and again you are spelling my nick wrong..

he people..look at this guy..nothing more than hate..hate..hate..leeds him to permaban on the WoT-Forums..

4500 games for a puppet is a little bit too much..and who would be so stupid to choose a nick, thats so easy to identify?

        • Hi Provocation-Whore, or shall I call you Rico Nemetz?

Sorry for typo of your name – you have just not been worth to check it ;)

And where’s hate? Why not discuss the obvious fails of WG, why just always to try to discredit customers (well, my theorie is: you are just not intelligent enough).
A permaban in WOT-forum is kind of an accolade – you know, everybody get’s a ban sooner or later except the fanboys :)
And what about EU-Comm? As official WG moron you know very well, that xOlsenX is sending around private mails of customers and is discussing that with Sarah_Plume – so it’s not surprising that EU-Comm has become boring – or have you seen how active the forum is? You did there a well job – as always, master in lying, failing in everything else :)

To come to an end, have you anything to say that is not just the usual WG-Staff-shit? Anything with substance, anything not just insulting a paying customer, anything that needs some more IQ than a sock?
Really wondering – btw, did you get your job because of your skills – or just as said in the interview, because your boss knows you since you have been 16?
I mean, would explain a lot and I can just repeat, WG has a lot of problems because idiots just hire other idiots….

“4500 games for a puppet is a little bit too much..and who would be so stupid to choose a nick, thats so easy to identify?” – easy – everybody at WG is stupid enought to act like this – we all know that :)
And no, 4500 matches are not that much given the count of your postings and the date of your “registration”.

But best proof of all, if you weren’t the dumbass-provocation-whore – why do you react to my posting? – Again, be happy working for WG – otherwise you would sell your ass like some of your colleagues ;)

          • the master of insult is complaining about insulting..a paying customer, who thinks, that from his little money, he spent in the game, he rules the company..thick as a brick..

            • As always, you don’t get the point.
BTW, for not being the provocation-whore Rico Nemetz you try very hard to defend WG’s and Ricos behaviour.
              But slowly….
Yes I’m insulting. Why? Because I talk only to retards, morons and liars when I’m in contact with WG – maybe there are also professinal acting persons, but I never had the pleasure to have contact to one of those obviously rare people. I have learned to be rude is the only language you do understand – sad? Yes, and for sure also part of the answer to the questions, why you can read everywhere of the WG-Europe-Fail-Troopers.

Bots? We don’t have a bot problem.
Lags? We don’t have lags, we investigate lags, olympic games are causing lags and back to: we don’t have lags.

And I’m well aware, that with my (little) money I don’t rule the company. The point is: idiots like you think that a customer doesn’t rule a company – but it’s not the whole truth. All customers rule a company. Sure, you are an “Artist” not even having the education for your job (quote from your profile at LinkedIn: “Thanks to Tom Putzki I got the chance to start my carrer as a young proffesional inside the games industry as a Junior PR Manager for Wargaming.” – You got your job not because of skills but because of an elder man knows you since you have been 16 – great :)
And then a hint because I’m such a nice guy and you mentioned the typo in your name. A public CV should not be full of typos “career” instead of “carrer”, “professional” instead of “proffesional” – but it’s enough to work for WG – as we all see :)

              • ho..ho..he is realy convinced, that I am the above named Rico..do you believe in Santa Claus too?..maybe I am Olsen or Strubel..

go on insulting as much as you can..you will get so much applause..

        • Permaban on WoT Forums with morons like you there and power tripping assholes like BBV and iscending moderating it is a badge of honor.

  1. - Occulus Rift support for WoT? “Not anytime soon, 50 percent of the test group got motion sickness”

Wusses. They can’t handle the realism. :D

        • I don’t know what the first model had but it was really low. I think it’s like HD 540.

          • With the first one you kinda had to use sniper zoom on anything further away to tell what kind of tank it is.

      • You get motion (or Sea) sickness not because of low resolution something, but because your brain either thinks, that your body is moving when in reality it is not, or it thinks that it is not moving when in reality it is.
Simply some people are more resistant to this, some are not. And with game platforms like those, it will always be so.

        • Still, of al the games I tried with Rift DK1, WoT was pretty much the least problemic in terms of motion sickness.

Then again WG might be trying out something like camera positioning similiar to the one in realistic WT battles, with mouse only moving the gun and turret (at least that’s how I’d do it). Then you’d probably have to actually look around with your head (not really much point in that with current 3rd person cam) and… if they’re using DK1 I’m sure some’d get motion sickness.

    • WG buys the licenses of Star Wars, and we can fight with tie-fighters and star destroyers;)

        • There’s more than enough crap out there in the Expanded Universe that they won’t have much reason to make up their own.

          • EU is non-canon so it’s the “made up” territory.
            Prototypes are early sketches.

          • crap in Expanded universe say that again? EU is one of the best continuing of frenzies out there

        • Also: they would promise that the “Ewok tree will have a TD branch” or “Jawa tree will have it’s second Sandcrawler branch” in the upcoming patches… for years…

    • Worth menitoning the Yager dev team is making Dreadnought game, which seems to basically be WoT(WoWs?) with spaceships.

  2. “- the sum of players playing all WG titles is cca 100 million”

are second, third, fourth, …, account included, as well as dead ones?

    • I’ve once seen some pretty interesting tables. Can’t remember where, tho. Some russian site I think. Got there through WoT-Forum. Someone linked it there. They pointed out that way more than 50% of the registered accs are dead accounts, if I remember correctly. And from the remaining accounts a certain portion are multi-accounts. And then again from these real accounts that are left, a big bunch consists of transit-players that just started to play and have less than 1-2k battles. Major part of them is gone again soon, adding their accs to the dead-acc-scale, being replaced by new transit players. Only a vanishingly small amount of players are true, active, long-term players. Let it be around 1% (on ALL servers, worldwide). If you made more than 10k battles in this game, you’re already a living fossil!

So, yea … WG is always bragging with this – “100 Million players!!!111!” whereas it’s not a big secret that this is a castle in the air. There are by far no 100 Million active (!) players.

      • If what you are saying is true then it makes the fact that they earn $400M a year more impressive.

  3. - it’s possible that after “earth” (WoT), “air” (WoWp) and “water” (WoWs) are “conquered”, “space” is next (post mentions the Total Annihilation and Master of Orion franchises)

    I smell EA attitude…

    – Occulus Rift support for WoT? “Not anytime soon, 50 percent of the test group got motion sickness”

Only 50%? That’s a huge advance for Rift!!!

  4. starwars? This game already has deathstars and tiefighters (183 and WT E-100 turret)…
Anyway always nice to get info about WG. I don’t get why so many really has to make it personal? WG clearly wants these guys to get active on their own forum and if they have little experience with the game they are forced to speak out of their comfort zone… I agree the french office does a horrible job with most of the things they touch, however I bet it all comes down to horrible information from MINSK and most of WG employees are hired without any proper training, skills or knowledge except their language?
Anyway Nico Nimitz – where is the fucking voiceover on those russian videos? One of them is 1 week old already…

  5. - Occulus Rift support for WoT? “Not anytime soon, 50 percent of the test group got motion sickness”

Of course, you get motion sickness from driving a tank that only your eyes. It would be great if there’s a new way/ a true VR (I mean, you don’t need to have a controller and you can feel the environment. Like the anime “Sword Art Online” or “Accel World”.) that you won’t get a motion sickness.

    • You get motion sickness from being a gunner on a tank as well. Most people are able to acclimatise after a few weeks tho
