Credit Income Bonus to Change on US (and EU?) Server

Hello everyone,

this might come as a bit of old news (two weeks late or so after all), but since it caused an outrage more than I expected (and frankly, I did not pay attention to the thread that much), it’s worth returning to the issue.

Basically, what happened:

You know how EU server gets 30 percent discount and 30 percent income buff for tier 10 tank discount events “Top of the Tree” (currently, it’s T92)?

Well, until quite recently, the US server recieved not only that (both discount and credit bonus), but also 50 percent discount and 50 percent credit gain bonus on tier 2 to 5 of that respective branch (for example here, the T110E4). This was a point of heated debates between players (50 percent income bonus on tier 5, especially combined with premium account, is quite a boost) in the past.

From roughly 2 weeks on (including the current Object 263 discount), the US server lost not only the 50 percent credit gain bonus for tiers 2-5, but also the 30 percent credit gain bonus for tiers 8-10. As you can see, Object 263 has just a discount. When confronted with the issue, here’s what Pizzastorm (US community guy) wrote:

pizza

Several players from US server wrote me, complaining that Pizzastorm is a scumbag, because he wrote:

Our server is not being singled out for this change as this is going into effect across all servers and all of our products.

And yet, the EU server “Top of the Tree” (with T92) has the 30 percent credit bonus.

There are several points worth noting here:

- Pizzastorm is not a scumbag, as each server economy is completely independent and apart from a general mail recieved from “above” (Minsk has a special department dedicated to watching ingame economy), he has probably no way of knowing (let alone influencing) how this policy will be enforced on EU server
- it’s completely possible that the US server economy suffered from credit inflation more than EU server (the tendency to attempt to gain more players on relatively small US server by having additional bonuses, support and such is widely known) and that’s why this was revisited (having too much credits in the economy is bad, I hope everyone understands why)
- an alternative to this solution would be stealth nerfs of vehicle income and we all know how stealth nerfs are popular and “fair”…
- it’s also possible that EU server will handle this issue differently, for example by removing weekly/weekend/monthly credit missions

So, chill guys. Once they get the economy under control, there will be more credit missions and stuff, I am sure of it.

    • That may just be the US, the NA server does not just service North America, it services both North and South (which include the Caribbean), parts of Oceania that are closer to the NA West server than the Asia server (I also think some people from South Africa connect to the NA server, however, the people I have seen claim that might be trolls)

      • NA Servers is for the entire American continent, North, Central and South, including the Caribbean. You have plenty of Mexicans, Argentinians, Brazilians, at least one Ecuadorian (me), etc.

        • That’s because our only other choice is to play on SEA, which is sort of like repeatedly smacking yourself in the face with a large piece of wood.

  1. “just a discount”

yeah, but on the whole tree, and don’t forget that US on track to the missions always contains 25k-250k xp mission, ending with a premium tank or gold… i know 250k xp is a lot, but at least they have the chance…

  2. I hope they don’t mean any further reduction on EU since it seems to me that they’ve scaled back on credit bonuses for at least 2 or 3 months now. Compare easy 200k+ over a weekend to monthly missions that give you a single piece of equipment.
I’m not complaining since I know the stuff has always been additional and had to have an influence on economy, I just don’t think there’s much left to scale down here.

  3. Can someone explain this;

(having too much credits in the economy is bad, I hope everyone understands why)

as i don’t understand why. I mean in a real economy with supply and demand, inflation, interest rates then maybe, or in a game with an auction house and a working trading economy maybe, but in THIS game i don’t see the problem. Maybe its that it becomes too easy to spam premium rounds?

Honestly i dont see the issue.

EDIT – is it that it becomes to easy to play without a premium account thus costing WG money?

    • If you have too big incomes and no money sinks:
      - the players lose motivation (I have 25M and nothing to do)
      - everyone can play T10 nonstop and there are less players on low tiers
      - the game values become shifted (everyone able to buy full gold)

You can afford this for someone who finished his trees and now only goes for CWs, but not for a player who is still grinding, it has negative impact.

        • Which is stupid to “balance” by means of an ingame economy, but so is having the economy tie in to the gameplay in the first place.

As for motivation, one would hope enjoyment would be the primary one, not grinding for virtual rewards. Same goes for tier spread.

          • Tier spread is fine in theory…. in practice getting in tier X battles most of time in your tier VIII is bloody retarded.

    • Less premium accounts, credits for gold, premium tanks….. less profit all the way.
Credits are always the bigger problem(XP too but less, and almost no problem on tanks that are not terrible).

  4. 30% on tier VIII-X that we in EU have is not going to change the economy much(playing standard VIII-X tanks is not profitable).
50% that US had on tier V stacks pretty damn fast.

    • If you do not spam gold like a monkey and generally get proper results in, you can run a profit in T8 – T10.

  5. Stricter control of economy will benefit most of the people reading ftr.
A very tight control would even solve some of the problems, that makes some ppl ask for ranked MM or hardcore mode.

If credits are hard to get, players will not be able to fail their way to tier 10.
Noobs need lots more tier 5 battles to afford failing a single tier 10 battle.
Forcing new players to learn ‘basic play’ before advancing past mid tier.

Maby we don’t need hardcore mode or ranked MM, maby we just need a tighter credit economy.

  6. I can understand that a bit. With the introduction of the mission system, there where so much credits around, that it was never a problem for me to a buy a tank.
I vent to farm credits with prem or low tier tanks like before. The credits just run into the pocket as u play normal t8 and t9 vehicles. Even with T10 u can make credits with all the credit bonus missions in the past.

So lets see what happens. Right now it is the first time for months that I started to grind credits with my premium to get that T92. I cant remember for which tank i the past i did had to grind credits. The was so much mission, that the credits did just come into the pocket.

So lets see what happens on this now.

  7. It is actually good news! This premium ammo madness needs some attention and proper acting! Tomatoes are shooting gold all the time in low tier vehicles, which is some kind of indition that the economy is broken! It is not normal that a 40% wr fellow has the credits to shoot gold frequently…

  8. Well actually despite that increased incomes for top of the tree, missions for silver i haven’t seen this month, even at weekends.

  9. This is just another way WOT is trying to get people to spend money on gold. By making it harder to grind they are hoping more people will buy gold to covert xp or credits. The only problem is that every time they do stuff like this it hurts them as people don’t like to feel like they are being forced to spend money on a game that they always claims to be free to play.

  10. Nothing at all to do with the Russians being caught out shooting down a passenger jet and the resulting huffing and puffing from the United States. Nope! Nothing at all to do with international tensions and finger pointing diplomacy*

    * Less politely: A territory marking pissing contest.

  11. “So, chill guys. Once they get the economy under control, there will be more credit missions and stuff, I am sure of it.”

There are no credit missions and have been none since the beginning of this month. The change in this policy is actually being accredited to strongholds mode which from what I understand from the NA forums. Stronghold mode is gonna have XP and credit multipliers for upgrading your stronghold BUT this is only going to help people in clans as the clan leader decides which multiplier the ENTIRE CLAN gets for the period of time the multiplier will be active.

  12. At least they have been honest about the change; EU server would just nerf it and hope nobody noticed.

  13. i think it’s actually good that they take the credit bonus off, they should at least make it a bit smaller, like 110%-Tier*10% with a 60 or 70% hard cap.

A while ago on the ASIA server, we had the IS-7 event and the USSR tree focus at the same time, giving the KV-1 50% credit bonus*2 (with a “restraint” of being top 10 exp-wise, which basically means dont bot and ull get it). It made the tank a very good credit trainer, not as good as tier8 prems, but MUCH better than tier5-6 prems.

  14. “The net result is that now too many credits are being introduced into economy”

What ? What fucking ingame money economy ? There are no interactions between players when it comes to cash so wtf they are talking about ? This isn’t a MMORPG where u trade goods and monies.
WoT doesnt have any gift system (buy/research tank X or module X for your friend using ur funds), doesnt have any auction house (remember how they told that players will be able to sell their tanks on acution house ? not to mention the painting of tanks as you like) and there is no way that players can anyway trade stuff

So, what economy I ask again ? Is getting much creds from events and spending them, all for your own stuff called economy ?

Sm1 enlighten me cus it looks like WG has its own meaning for “economy” in “MMO” (yea, WoT is not even a MMO…)

Broken economy was eg in TES Online when ppl found out how to dupe items…

    • “So, what economy I ask again ? Is getting much creds from events and spending them, all for your own stuff called economy ?”

The game gives you credits, you spend these credits to buy tanks and consummables . That’s a (basic) economic system.
And the more the game gives you, the less frustration and thus the less real money you’re going to spend on the game.

      • So they should say “it would ruin our gold sales” instead some bullshit about economy :P

  15. Us asians dont get weekly missions. they also removed the neg rep in forums because we hate faggets. i got -20 once for a wrong comment.it’s still there like shitstain =(

also, we have the “save password” box removed. not sure why. asked Carves abt it, he said “get a mod”

  16. A year ago. It was exactly one year ago, during July and August. Remember that? Back then there was a mission, where you could earn 250k/300k credits (!!!) just by earning enough experience or damage points every day. Quarter of a million to be won every day for two months straight. Now look what do we have – absolute garbage, pathetic leftovers from those awesome missions.

    • I think I might still have credits from back then :)

IIRC I saved up over 10 mill from nearly nothing and that was after buying tanks, consumables, ammo and equipment. I still have 5 spare EGLDs in my depot along with at least one of everything else.

Currently I have over 15 mill. The missions have allowed me to slowly grow my cash base while still buying tanks, ammo, upgrades etc. If they had kept that first mission going for a year, I would probably have over 100 mill and be firing gold non stop.

Also, didn’t they also have missions last year where you could get perpeptual premium? This year you can get 3 days prem for 7 days of playing so you eventually run out.
