Hello everyone,

this is an extremely rare footage of ARL-44, Foch tank destroyer and AMX 50 in action during the 14.7.1951 parade in Paris. Armor starts at cca 0:55.

        • The same counts for the Object 268. The real one looks much taller than the in-game version, but when you overlay the images then seem about the same.

          The problem seems to be that the other models, such as the houses, are totally out of scale compared to the tanks. So the tanks look smaller than they actually are. The houses are oversized. Like those super sized 6 storey single-family houses in almost every map..

            It’s everything else not in scale. Look at severogorsk map here house doors are taller than tiger 2 for example. There was a giant scarecrow, again, as tall as a big heavy tank, on live oaks map, but it got changed.

            I’d love HD maps, once they get havoc running, to be reworked to make objects in scale, so we can actually see that we are driving tanks, not RC toys.

      • There were ALOT of prototypes during AMX 50, they weren’t shy to spend all money they could to create a ‘perfect’ tank for France to regain its Great Power status.

          • You know why it is funny? Because there are still butthurt people like you (French in this case?) who take it serious and claim moral high ground everytime somebody does such a joke.

            Many comedians use these stereotypes as setting for their jokes. Its not my problem you take these seriously. If anyone makes these stereotypes bad its people like you.

            You can make fun of me all day and as long as it stays fun, no harm is done. If you start taking things too seriously you will die bitter old man with no friends, wife or children.

            Learn to understand what is a joke. Actually try understanding the concept of jokes since you don’t seem to understand it lol.

            • I’m not talking about the first joke you said about the white flags (i laughed too), but when you continued to troll offended people. Some people should understand that kidding can be really childish. In Italy, when we joke, we say often bad words against who is with us, but the WAY we tell them let the “victim” understand that it’s really only joking and that he/she can reply back as well. If somebody doesnt find your jokes funny about him you should just stop, not carry on. If you are kind you can say that you are sorry.

          My great uncle died in la Resistance, so I don’t appreciate the joke.
          My grandfather, at the ripe age of 16, kicked a German soldier down stairs, and fled Paris to join the FFL.

          It’s those personal acts of valor, those of teenagers having more balls then most people reading on this blog combined, that make this joke not funny.
          You can make jokes about French people in general. Hell, I make a lot of them.
          But please don’t shit on people who gave their lives to defend their country, and allied countries.
          Gave their lives to keep innocents from being deported.

          It may seem exaggerated, especially to the younger crowds reading this, but I assure you, when you find a posthumous award from the ministry of defense in your attic, given to the family of someone younger than you, who gave his life to fight a government sending men, women and children to death camps, it makes things much more real.

              And if you think it’s funny, next time, make a joke to a soldier’s face about letting his country down.

        • I’m an American, and would perhaps find it funny… if every article about France for in excess of a decade included the same childish and baseless jokes. They’re always the same every time, so it doesn’t even have variety.

          It isn’t that I mind that people make it but…. why? Surely telling the exact same joke over and over again for over ten years gets boring?

        • I am not French. I even do not like them. But joke is just stupid and totally unfair for hundreds of thousands French soldiers killed in World Wars. Such “jokes” can be funny for kids, at best.

  5. Awesome video SS. I didn’t know the Foch paraded too. It’s actually kind of sad France ditched all those models in favor of American vehicles. The ARL was just a WWII tank, but the AMX50 was an interesting tank.

    The French News

    During the army’s week, the 14th of July parade allowed the french to see the new french military hardware.
    Around the Président de la République, they saw the new infantry combat suit.
    The air force took part in the parade with the Vampire and the Ouragan from the Dassault factories, which the air force is outfitted with.
    2 prototypes, the Mystère, too fast for the camera, and the Espadon.
    Then the motorized vehicles (TLnote: as in, ground vehicles).
    Among the new hardware designed for the Atlantic army, new recon vehicles with 75mm cannon.
    The 48tons transition tanks (TLnote: ARL44).
    The best piece of the parade, the 50 tons self-propelled gun (TLnote: Foch, and the exact translation in the video is “carried gun”, so I guess self-propelled is more correct, even if it’s not a SPG).
    And the 50 tons heavy tanks already rated among the world’s best.

  14. Ok, looks like most people are against us Frenchies, so I’m out making a white flag.

    Jokes aside, we may do the same with most countries who lost a war.

    In the first world war, I do not remember hearing about France sending out white flags and showing its butt. But I do remember, from learning it, how french engineers produced the first tanks and literally rolled on german army once the FT17 came in the battle. French soldiers who fought against stupid officers and refused to go to battle did it not out of cowardice, but because the way assaults were done was stupid and just send out cannon fodder. Once Petain (when he was still a hero) organized the way assaults were done, all of the french troops went back to battle to beat the shit out of the german invaders. And they did it.

    Concerning the Famous “White flag”, it was decided to avoid the slaughter of the french troops that were already cut from their bases, with no support and no way to organize in the beginning of the second world war. Fighting just to see your people getting butchered with no hope of winning, we have seen what it looks like on another front, and France did not have hundreds of thousands civilans to send against fully trained military troops.

    So well, I don’t really care about this joke, we have so much more to do with russians, germans, americans, british and some other people, so let’s joke together and stop this ridiculous fight.
