Hello everyone,
a little bit of insider information from Wargaming againg. Had a nice long chat with the insider over the internet, this is my summary of the conversation.
- Sturmtiger will likely not be implemented (or, almost certainly according to what Storm said) because of the issues with the line. The biggest issue is the balance – at one point, developers considered implementing it as an artillery vehicle, but they are afraid of the massive, massive whine. During the tests, the Sturmtiger could oneshot even hightier tanks and developers don’t want “oneshot derp” on high tiers. Another issue is – strangely enough – the fact that the line has some issues on lower tiers, specifically around tier 3-5. There was a thought of separating StuH 42 from StuG Ausf.G (effectively removing the StuG 105mm derp and making it another separate vehicle), but that was not judged a good idea (for undisclosed reasons).
- Sturmtiger might appear in the game still… as a consumable. Developers are working on an “artillery fire mission” consumable for Stronghold mode. Basically what you’ve seen earlier – you aim the fire barrage at some sector or something and off-map artillery battery starts shelling it. The idea is, this consumable would be available in several tiers and the Sturmtiger fire mission would be the highest one.
- the “fun mode” will be indeed a Chaffee race, actually something like Mario Kart – a wacky race on the Port map with various boosts and obstacles and such
- Minsk (WG RU) actually listens a significant deal to the feedback from American server, especially some employees such as the Chieftain. They mostly ignore Europe to the point of just ignoring some allegedly really good ideas. It’s mostly pointless to propose any changes or suggestions on European server.
- developers are aware of some of the notorious players by name, specifically Garbad is extremely infamous. His vile rants were considered offensive to the point of developers instructing (*someone, couldn’t quite understand*) to get rid of him personally and permaban him. They also blame him for starting a vicious rant trend (“go get cancer, jew”) and such on US server. Way to go, developers, now if you could kindly purge the EU server of cancer wishers and antisemites, that would be nice… :)
- weather was developed, but it was put on hold with no current ETA, due to the fact it messes with the gameplay balance
- a year and a half or so ago, the developers created a system, where players could select whichever garage they wanted (could even “collect” them), it was even tested, but it was scrapped for unknown reasons.
- at one point, hardcapping gold ammunition was considered. The developers however in the end decided not to do it (so this idea is closed), specifically – and I am not quite sure I understood this a hundred percent, but I think I did – to preserve the economy (eg. gold ammo is an important money-maker for Wargaming and also a credit/gold sink).
- KV-1S split was delayed a lot for a several reasons, the first one was the gun – developers didn’t want to mess with the 122mm, but they wanted to keep it on the vehicle. Another reason was this tank’s massive popularity.
- a lot of things depends on Havok. Right now, many developers are actually learning to work with Havok, specifically regarding the environment (maps and such) and tank behavior. That’s like the center point of development. Month or so ago, Havok was scheduled for 9.5, but it’s completely possible it will be delayed further, as it was in the past. Developers also do not want to add many more vehicles before Havok and HD models come.
- currently, Havok increases the game net traffic by 45 percent. The goal is to reduce it to 18 percent. One of the most difficult parts is synchronizing the engine so that all players see the exactly same effect.
It’s more likely that WW3 will come before Havok…

WW3 might be closer than you think. If Russia keeps this up, there is going to be an almighty clash sooner or later. I thought Putin had the brains to stay just shy of that, but he seems to be getting awfully close to the line where pretty much the rest of the world says: “nope”.
Its the 21st century where money rules the world and not dictators like in the early 20th century. There wont be anything even close to a WW3… The wars nowdays are being held on the stock markets and in banks. All the leading nations in armies are so dependant on eachother that a war would be a death sentence for them and that not from the conflict itself. Especially Russia or USA where the oil industry is worth 100s of billions of USD.
Yet, Russia is at war with a country that actually matters enough to the world at large to make all the preliminary moves. Maybe it does not seem all that threathening now, but if you look at the buildup, and the slow, but steady change of pace in the normally pacifistic EU, you should notice severe similarities with earlier times. Remember, this is how WW2 started as well. Hopefully we won’t get a repeat performance, but it is not out of the question, either.

Yes, but SS posted something regarding that. Such as there is so much OP that and nerf this suggestions that they simply stoped going trough the sheer amount of them. Other good suggestions such as limited premium ammo for certain tanks (for example more on a stock tank and very limited on T10 meds) would make sense, but then again that would influence the money income of WG and what company wants to lower their income on purpose… :-). It was said that doing that would be easily adjustable, but never gonna happen. Same as limiting arty to 3 max per side.

As i experienced the world: US servers are the “gems” of every game developers, ASIA servers are the second for profit’s sake, OCE is only active because there “needs to be one”, AFRICA will never be and EU is always ignored even if it is full of Einsteins.

And Garbad does do a lot of helpful things for the Wotlabs community, believe it or not. In particular, he writes great guides, starting out with the old unicum diaries that first brought me out of deep red. And no, he doesn’t constantly sperg out at arty randomly, only whenever he gets hit by it.
The few times that I’ve seen him in a Tier 8 tank (T-34-2), there have been all these Tier 10s in the open to arty, but because of his uber-dark-purple stats and aggressive gameplay, arty will wait for him to make to pop out and blap him. Then there’s nothing that he can do besides helplessly rage at the broken mechanic. Made me feel sorry for him.
Apart from a normaly working brain, two hands (except arty, for that u need only one) and a working mouse with keyboard you shouldnt need any guide to go out of deep red lol.

I have this in 9 out of 10 games when there is arty involved so I can understand that frustration and I have to admit of using “cancer game mechanics” a few times out of sheer and pure frustration after one arty waited for 2 minutes untill I get spotted again or obvious focus fire only on me even tho iam moving without stoping. If there are platoons of arties and a map with open areas I know that any sort of pushing will be punished instantly.

Besides Garbad spent so much time farming his upvotes in GD no one in higher echelons of the game took him seriously. I like to think he wasn’t banned, he merely left in shame after a sweet beatbox battle with Antonio Handsome in the skill plateau thread.

S51: 200 games, that means he must have miss clicked 200 times for the least. -(57% win nice)
Object 212: 181 games, yeah must be 181 miss click again…. (70% uber clicker)
Object 261: 101 games, boy again so much miss click. (75% best arty spammer NA)
And he had to “smash his head on the keyboard” every game and not leave at the start, because otherwise he could not have like that super high winrate.
So let’s sum up: he unlocked a tier 10 arty, farmed 100 games for the least, managed to have very high winrate (so no “i was trolling in arty” excuse) and when he got hit by a T92 he crys and whine like a raging baby.
You can’t play almost 500 games with arty, spam everyone, and insult the other players when they do the same.
If you take an average player that got a job and wife/kids that can play 2 hours a day, that represent 6 min/game, 500 games, 25 days playing arty non stop.

When you complain about arty one of the standard responses is ” play arty then come back and comment” so he does exactly that and is a bad guy for doing so? Maybe he played it to see how ridiculously easy it is. Even Quickybaby says so.
The challenge was to show how stupidly low skill arty is and he made the point quite well.

I like how the Chaffee special mode is called ‘fun mode’, because normal WoT isn’t fun. :-D
That gold economy issue is the fundamental flaw to WG’s approach to F2P, or perhaps the system itself, from a player’s perspective: gameplay is subsumed to profits, and WG can get away with considerable gameplay flaws (that benefit them financially) because a lot of people tolerate them. Instead of trying to make the best game possible and profiting from that alone, they try to make the most profitable game possible that only has to meet a critical baseline in gameplay quality to maintain player interest.

Garbad was the King of Whine to win and shape the game to suit your self. FFS he could not just play the game as it was. As a deep purple princess he must have trolled other players up the wazoo but he does not seem to have the capacity to take it like a man when he received it. Maybe he imagines himself as some sort of Randian Ubermensch. But it seems that whining shapes the game and we can look forward to the nerf death of all the fun tanks that stand out. As if they were not available to everyone.

Which reminds me, last night I was tooning with some fellow IOC_5s and literally 5 seconds after BountyHunter told me to stay alive while he circled around an opposing arty nuked 2/3 of my BatChats health. It’s like he had some kind of platoon chat telepathy…

but then again if you see a platoon of top tier arties starting the game with the sentence “you are first unicum hacker”. Then sir you know the game is over even before it started. You can avoid more or less random arty players, but when they coordinate fire… Oh boy oh boy… You better be in a scout that game :-)

And thats the place where the top tier arty should be played only. Something like the stronghold arty mode. I also would limit the usage of premium ammo for specific vehicle types, but that again is never going to happen bcoz WG would lose money :-)

Well, being a good player by myself, i often get targeted and WIN sometimes through this. I cant count the battles in my T6 Pz IV S. where i get shot to pieces by T7/T8 artillery, while some wild greenish T8 tank rapes their whole team, because arty just focusses on me.
On the other hand you have to consider that it is sometimes really smart to take the best enemys out first and fuck the noobs later – especially if the unicums are playing high tier meds/mobile heavies. Every damage point counts then, because it softens their ability to stomp your tomatoteam :)
Personally, i choose my targets playing arty by how much threat is to my team, so my primary targets are TDs, OP tanks (KV1-S, Hellcat, WTF E-100, T18, etc), but also it depends on the tier of my arty (high tier artys are very slow to change flank, so i usually attack whatever in my traverse angle comes)
Also, some hyper super unicums with mobile meds are almost impossible to hit with arty, because they constantly moving, and did not giving any oppurtinity to attack them (so instead i aim one of the other tomatoes who just camp and shoot shoot shoot ;)

Garbad says a lot of things. But I have never seen him say anything racist. He did say some things on the EU forums for a while, so may have trolled some folks over there. As far as focusing him with arty. I don’t think he has been hit very often if at all since the 8.6 nerf. All the top players rarely sit still long enough to get hit. If someone tracked him, you would have a chance. He has been banned on the US forums, but I think he was trying to get banned. He kept poking the forum admins till he got banned.
Garbad is the voice of the view who can actually play the game. Unlike most of us he actually takes the time to make points and explain stuff to those who don’t know (WG staff).

I think the time and space continuum would fall apart and even Morgan Freemans godly voice wouldnt help us and our universe would explode in a huge mega explosion from all the whine and crying it would produce. Arty, FV183 HESH and premium ammunition for credits are a weak fart in the wind compared to this.
My common sense said long time ago, that it is not possible to balance Sturmtiger into WoT. (at least not into random battles, but maybe in PVE historical battles)

- Sturmtiger might appear in the game still… as a consumable. Developers are working on an “artillery fire mission” consumable for Stronghold mode. Basically what you’ve seen earlier – you aim the fire barrage at some sector or something and off-map artillery battery starts shelling it. The idea is, this consumable would be available in several tiers and the Sturmtiger fire mission would be the highest one.
So, tier I Artillery Barrage will fire 76 mm HE shells with 165 damage, 42 pen and 1 m splash, while tier X Artillery Barrage will fire 380 mm shells with 3000+ damage, 160+ pen and 25+ m splash? ;)
lol “developers don’t want “oneshot derp” on high tiers” so the way you avoid that is by adding a light tank with a 152mm gun that can deal 1,000 dmg to the leo1, stb1, batchat.
just had entire batchat crew knocked out by a t49 shell to the face, that was his second shot… the first shot killed 2/3 of the crew, i healed them all back. he shoots me for all 3 members and another tank comes in to take the dmg while he just goes derping around at 65 km/h.
WG can blame Garbad for the arty hate all they want…but the jew hate and such can stick to the european and russian servers. Leave US server out of this.
And I wonder what came first, arty hate or garbad? I bet on the first.

Wargaming’s forums have always been a joke. To be blaming Garbad for other people’s actions and to say that he uses racial slurs proves that. Yes garbad isn’t perfect hes gotten ROed on wotlabs before but most of the stuff he posts are very true and helpful to many players in the game. that’s why many of garbad’s thread must have at least 20 up votes or something.
