  1. In case you are wondering, in the end of the video, Chieftain talking about this event, happened in Budapest, October 2006:

During a protest against the Hungarian government on the 50th anniversary of the Revolution of 1956, a 65 years old retired tanker got into the drivers seat of a exhibited T-34/85, and started it successfully. He drove directly for a few meters against the anti-protest police and water cannons, but he stopped, because he thought that such an act would be very dangerous. After that, the police fired rubber bullets and teargas against the following protesters, and reconquered the tank. In the end the police dragged the old tanker out and beat him up.

    • There was enough gasoline in the tank’s gas tank :D to go up and down it’s trailer, so he drove it only for a very short time. The police was shooting at everybody with rubber bullets, many of them (the demonstrators) lost their eyes… If your own goverment is firing rubber bullets at you, the best position to be in is a tank! :)

  2. Funnily every western review of this tank I’ve seen has said that it would be horrible to be in one during battle.

About the best would be the bow gunner or the commander…

    • In the tank’s defense, you are trying to shift using a very long and not exactly positive shift linkage.

It’d be like trying to change gears in your Opel with a mess of of Meccano linkage from the trunk.
