First and foremost – regarding the “new bot ban system” – I was apparently wrong in accusing WG EU of inaction. Ectar posted that this system is in fact in operation for over a month. He wrote the following:

We didn’t want to do a new article as we didn’t want to warn naughty players that we were coming for them. We’ve had this new system active since the start of the month and 9.3 will bring an additional system to deal with AFK players and those players who leave a battle early. What we have active on EU atm is the same as what is active on RU. You don’t hear much about players being banned because no one wants to admit they got caught doing something they shouldn’t have.

So, I guess that’s that. Personally, I do not understand why keep such a thing secret – after all, the point of such a system is not only to punish, but also to deter (that’s why WG RU made actual portal posts about it). Make no mistake, the system is effective on RU forums (yes, I am paranoid, so I manually checked the list of players announced to be banned for botting – RU does that – and indeed, they were banned). I am actually impressed, it’s time WG as a whole took the issue of bots seriously.

- the LTTB turret is actually historical. Sort of. It’s a regular T-34/85 turret with slightly enlarged turret ring (1600 to 1660mm). It was however not designed for LTTB, it’s completely independent on that.
- the next gift tank (Panzer II Ausf.D) having too low penetration? “It’s still supertest” and “No comment on leaks”
- no tank will be buffed just because some developers don’t play well with it
- German 37mm and 50mm subcaliber rounds lose a lot of penetration over distance (more than others apparently). Veider states this is historical, based on some documents. In the future, this will be reworked so all the subcaliber shells of that respective caliber lose the same percentage of their penetration

- the map reload time depends mostly on disk speeds
- Hellcat in 9.3 is doing fine according to Veider, it just lost the part where it could act as a medium tank
- regarding the T-34/85 vs T-34 hull size differences: “Praxis showed that it can be in either way. Even in one factory production run, there were size differences.” (SS: that is true, but this issue was not limited to Soviet production, Germans had a share of those as well)
- there’s apparently a 9.3 bug, where – when you disable the display of leaves in sniper mode – the leaves of some trees are still getting displayed.
- apparently, RU251 turret LOD is messed up as well (depending on zoom, the turret moves up and down)
- the hangar UI rework in 9.3 solved “many things”
- new Murovanka is “significantly better than the old campfest”, old Murovanka will not return
- old hangar UI will not be returned
- the processor core distribution was not touched lately apparently
- FCM 50t is fine statistically, but unpopular
- the “NKVD officer” (leaving the battle punishment in replays) bug will be fixed
- 0.9.1 test sounds (SS: remember? Hellcat and Jackson and such) were not scrapped
- for now there is no plan for graphic overhaul of tech trees
- the new menu background ugly black to be changed? “We will do something about it. But it has no influence on the game or on comfort.”
- Legionnaires (“mercenaries”) will be reworked, there are plans to do that – they will “adhere to the principle of selection (of battle) the team battles and random battles adhere to” (whatever that means), there are also plans to make them benefit from the industrial resource they helped gather (Q: “Something like the Department of War building for random players?” A: “That is the general direction.”)
- the HD textures were decided to be implemented as separate, because “the texture quality of it is a bit better than “maximum” and given the circumstances, the difference can only be told when looking at gun barrel with magnifying glass”

  1. I dont know why they changed the tech tree??
Vertical tech tree was far better, more practical and intuitive…

Luckily there are mods for that.

    • …It’s been what, a year since that hange and you’re crying over it now?

I think it’s a bit late for that. and besides, I do like the horizontal tree. PEople cried “boo hoo it’s impractical vertical tree best tree” but really, does anyone note any significant difference? So much so that they remember the old tree at all?

      • “So much so that they remember the old tree at all?”

I have NEVER used horizontal tree. After they fucked it up and forced everyone to accept the one and only horizontal tree I got myself a mod reverting it back to vertical. I have never regretted it.

Edit: And I play on wide screen tv. It still looks better.

        • Um. so you’ve never used it but it sucks? How do you know? You’ve never used it. :P :P :P :P

          • Also, who gives a shit whether or not the old or the new is better. If it happens that you like the horizontal, well good for you. If you like the vertical get a mod for it.

    • Horizontal fits better on 1080p monitors… well, it did until they same tier tanks in german and russian trees.

Also when we had the old one, people did mods to make it horizontal. Can’t be nice to everyone.

    • I prefer the horizontal tree because I have a panoramic 1080p screen. Get with the times man! Don’t be a conservative, conservatives suck!

      • I don’t mind either but I have noticed using the vertical tech tree mod that some of the links between certain tanks are completely unclear, which is bad.

  2. I tried out the Jackson on the test server and was wondering why the sounds are different (imho cooler) than on other tanks. Is this this the first time this has been mentioned?

  3. - the HD textures were decided to be implemented as separate, because “the texture quality of it is a bit better than “maximum” and given the circumstances, the difference can only be told when looking at gun barrel with magnifying glass”

So SD and HD are the same?

  4. - FCM 50t is fine statistically, but unpopular

It takes some skills to play, and even then it doesn’t tolerate mistakes. Same may happen for the L71 Panther- but just by being German it won’t be unpopular, not to mention that there are two awesome MT line in the German tree.

    • The gun and mobility are grerat on that thing, the only difficult thing about this tank is its size, 0 camo and huge frame. Although tracks can eat some shells with sidescraping.

  5. - German 37mm and 50mm subcaliber rounds lose a lot of penetration over distance (more than others apparently). Veider states this is historical, based on some documents. In the future, this will be reworked so all the subcaliber shells of that respective caliber lose the same percentage of their penetration

Standardize everything, stop with this overly historical picking and choosing nonsense. Premium rounds should have a base 20-25% increase in penetration. T54 for example should not get a 59% increase in pen 201–> 320 for 100mm D-10T2C. If you did this to the leopard pta’s 105 it would have 426 pentration.

    • I disagree. If same tier/class tanks have different pen on regular rounds, at least they can be somewhat balanced by different gold ammo pen. If I have subpar regular pen then I at least want above average gold pen, since I’m paying for it.

    • I’ve seen it said that premium ammo penetration and cost are balance parameters, just like the normal credit AP/APCR.

That’s why the premium on the T-54 has 320 pen, and the Matilda IV’s has 101 pen; they’re such under- and overpowered vehicles, respectively :v

In all seriousness, there SHOULD be some variance in the base penetration, but I do agree that there should also be some standardization, at least as far as APCR loss over distance. They refuse to implement other things (armor qualities, variable damage for cupola hits, just to name a couple) because they’re unintuitive for players, yet here’s another completely undisclosed stat that goes against what the player would reasonably assume.

Edit: one more thing; normalization has to be taken into account. In almost all circumstances you’ll probably get at least 80 extra penetration out of that HEAT shell, which is indeed substantial, but rarely will you be in a position to shoot at a perfectly flat surface to get that full 120.

  6. can someone plz tell me how this separate dnl will be..will we be guided or what??is it for everyone or just for those who have bad/good comps??!

    • Only needed if you want the best possible texture quality, otherwise you don’t *have* to download it.

If you do want it, I think WG will put up a guide on how to install the pack alongside / with the article about the 9.3 release (when it happens). It should be a pretty simple process…

  7. - FCM 50t is fine statistically, but unpopular

i have it and its like a panther II, don’t bounce but pen everything

how to make the fcm 50t popular? give her autoloader :3

    • That is just tank porn. As if FCM50t wasn’t already a vintage WW1 tank porn by itself. The FCM 50t never had an auto-loader planned. French never tried to design auto-loader without an oscillating turret and even if, they hadn’t even dreamed yet about such solution when this thing was being proposed.

FCM 50t is nothing more than an ARL44 concept taken to a whole new level by a shipbuilding company (FCM was a dockyard)

  8. >> Veider states this is historical, based on some documents. In the future, this will be reworked so all the subcaliber shells of that respective caliber lose the same percentage of their penetration

Why should they? I’m ok with that, they may balance other stats and keep this historical.

  9. We didn’t want to do a new article as we didn’t want to warn naughty players that we were coming for them. – Ectar

So, I guess that’s that. Personally, I do not understand why keep such a thing secret – SS

its completely Reasonable to not say a word about it, after all. its illegal to do to begin with. If these people get alerted they are probably going to try to find new ways to trick the system. These people are doing wrong, if they get banned after the automatic ban got improved they still deserve it as much as they did before.

ter all, the point of such a system is not only to punish, but also to deter – SS
Why do they need to be Detered? They are doing something that they know is wrong by default.

    • Makes no sense.
If BOTS got alerted, what they can do? They’re only users.
Its bot makers who must keep up – and they probably wont :D

    • It is not illegal for WG to permaban bot users.
By publicizing the anti-bot campaign you get to discourage some bot users. The bot makers already know that the system is in place since those that got banned received a message indicating them the reasons for the ban.

They probably haven’t done so because these are temporary bans and WG could be waiting for those banned permanently before posting a list.

    • agreed. tough to use and unforgiving, but flexible and great for credits. What is the point of a credit printer tank if you hate to use it? I can run this all day.

  10. Hellcat is fine in 9.3…. BULLSHIT !

It lost aim time (which is 100% TD-like), RoF (again TD-like) and reverse top speed (12kph are you fking kidding me ???) . It lost the only edges it had – the gun precision and hit-n-run tactics.

Now all you have is a 13mm armored mediocre TD with bad DPM and mediocre aiming gun.

    Jackson FTW in every aspect.

    • Jackson was already arguably better if you didn’t need the speed, it’s just…a lot more pronounced a difference now : \

They really should have just nerfed the gun statistics and left its mobility alone, since the mobility was the primary thing that made the Hellcat what it was. But nope, Wargaming is Wargaming.

  11. - Hellcat in 9.3 is doing fine according to Veider, it just lost the part where it could act as a medium tank
    ______________
And yet no one said it’s OP because it’s too much like a medium tank. Reason why Hellcat is OP is because of ability to snipe and stay invisible due to great camo. It will still be the same TD just a bit more annoying to play. This also shows how that wavy haired faggot Veider sucks dicks at his job. For the love of God bring back Zlobny.

    • Even though it still should be mobile it was the mobility that made it awesome… Getting into or out of position when you needed it… Now you actually have to plan a little bit ahead.

  12. - the LTTB turret is actually historical. Sort of. It’s a regular T-34/85 turret with slightly enlarged turret ring (1600 to 1660mm). It was however not designed for LTTB, it’s completely independent on that.

If the turret was not designed for the LTTB, then does this count as a fake WG tank?

  13. “the HD textures were decided to be implemented as separate, because “the texture quality of it is a bit better than “maximum” and given the circumstances, the difference can only be told when looking at gun barrel with magnifying glass”

Well so all the work put into the HD models ,is wasting of massive ressources if I am right?
