9.3: Different Models for Stock/Elite Tracks

Hello everyone,

here’s another really small thing, that can have interesting consequences and came with 9.3. These screenies come from Edweird (US server). They come from test server, so we’ll have to see, how that works in live 9.3, but basically, it’s something that was never there before. It seems like on several tanks, stock and elite tracks have a different visual model. In this case, it’s connected with the “realistic track movement” (enabled/disabled) – check this out:

M4 Sherman – stock vs elite

Panther – stock vs elite

Tiger – stock vs elite

You can notice the different visual model on both types of tracks in these cases. So who knows, maybe in the future we will have realistic track looks after all (for example Ostketten with grousers), even though personally I do believe that track models won’t be touched until the altertive hulls come.

    • Yeah sorry, I just wanted to make the difference obvious. I just thought that if they’ve linked different track models to the modules then that may be our first evidence that they’re working on the hulls and tracks as SS said.

      • Maybe just 2 image would suffice or for motion thingy, maybe add a little note which one is stock or elite since the tier level on tracks sometimes hard to tell

  1. cool!, some of the differences are very small, maybe it was just a mistake or something? idk much about model making, so yeah.
    cool anyway though.

    • Might be a mistake, but the upgraded tracks look wrong, the links are too big, especially on the M4 where they clip through the sprocket. Like SS says though, probably to do with the fancy new tracks motion they have going, testing out maybe having a different model for tracks when in motion so they don’t act all crazy, or unrealistic.

  2. It will be no wonder, if this is just another f**k-up by WG, e.g. – they simply forgot to update stock tracks to new track models or something like that ;)

    • Yeah they’re just slighly offset. Idea is its interesting that the models are tied to the modules at all.

  3. Looks to me more like the track movement model cycle. Why would anyone in their right mind have different track models for stock and elite when the only thing that changes is the internal characteristics of the suspension?

    • Well, only in Chicago there are around 100000 bulgarians, let alone the rest of USA.
But in this case SS is wrong Edweird is an EU player from the bulgarian clan “BRAZE”.

  5. Maybe this hints that when alt hulls come out, maybe those that don’t have different hulls but a variety of suspensions (like torsion bars to replace HVSS for example), this will come in mind?
