Car Crushed by APC at Igromir

Hello everyone,

this is kinda interesting, have a look at what the WG competition came up with at the Igromir 2014 expo in Moscow. This time, the Armored Warfare producers brought an APC to crush some cars.

So, what do you think about Armored Warfare anyway? I’ll write my (preliminary) opinion later, but let’s hear you first.

    • Who cares? If it turns out to be a fun game I will definitely keep playing it. If it’s just a boring clone I will uninstall it again.

    • But AW has modern tanks which is a huge difference, thats the main reason why I think WoT and AW can live with each other instead of “this game will kill that game ”
Also it’s gameplay being a wot copy is a good news for me.

      • Yeah WoT’s gameplay clearly works, no point in imitating it in some way, or learning from it, improving it.

unlike WT which said SCREW IT and went in the opposite direction, which yielded some interesting results.

        • they didnt screw their gameplay, its quite decent for their game.

Its only you cant compare it to wot cuz wot is far more arcade than WT.
In my opinion WT gives a far better feeling with the tank, compared to wot

    • I agree – I’d even go so far as to say WOT went too far with some of the tier x
      ‘s being too ‘new’.

  1. Ever heard about WarFace? AFAIK it’s also my.com brand – and the game sucks big time; full of cheaters and pay to win features.

Have seeing the video – the girl with the m16 got thsi “wtf am I even doing here” expression on her face.

    • Well… the producer is Russian, but luckily I checked their forums and I haven’t seen any ARMATA STRONK STALIN STEEL BLESSED BY PUTIN DEFEATS 100 IMPERIALIST ABRUMZ crap. But the game is not out yet, so we might still get that :P

      • Obsidian, the developer, is American actually. My.com is indeed russian-funded, but its target is not the Russian player base.

So really, we’ll land very far away from any pro-russian anything.

  2. I don’t really have a good impression about Armored Warfare…

It has more realistic maps/ambiances but that’s not necessarily a good thing… I don’t want to think about a war zone when playing a game full of tanks.. I want to think about soldiers derping around and drifting at high speeds.

The few tanks that were shown, are not really interesting, they are not, pretty.
They’re modern tanks, specifically designed to be as efficient as possible, and no aesthetic design was given to them.

Let’s take the AMX 13 set of tanks, I found those pretty good looking, even the one with rockets mounted on top of it. It’s small, sleek, and well sized turret for the size of the hull.

Or the Tiger 1, the big German fire-place, it might ignite from just turning on the engine, but even then, that big box of tinder, looks good from wherever you look at it. The turret isn’t sticking out, the side skirts fit in perfectly, the hull is just big enough to at least intimidate you.

While the AW tanks, some just have gigantic turrets that stick out even a meter when turned 90 degrees on the hull. Or are just disproportionate to the point where you think you could cross a ravine with them (as in: To long but to thin), Or just have gigantic hull with a tiny winy turret stuck on top of it..

Short version, I rather have some historical tanks that seem very unreliable but yet, feel like someone put their soul in them.. instead of some engineering master pieces that have no aesthetic what so ever..

Of course, there are plenty of modern tanks that look good enough to give them a try, but in my eyes, the number of tanks that just look disproportionate in so many aspects, I might just not even bother looking at that game.

On the other hand, the maps we’ve all had the chance to see, look to be a fairly bit larger then the WoT maps, which is always a thing people ask for.

However, down to the very basics, it’s just a World Of Tanks game, with modern tanks, and some battlefield action.. Not very interested in a realistic-ish game..

  3. AW for me looks better in the research area… no nations, you have “weapons dealers” as i understand you can have from same dealer tanks from diferent nations i like this because rest “political” factor in vehicles… you have more options to grind.

Other point is there are tanks you only can have via performance as player or completing achievements.

Oooo and crews “remember” what tank was their first baby like in WT???

I dont have preferences between modern and WWII tanks… even when i need say i allways like T-54 and next T tanks specially the T-72 and a little less T-64.

I think that WOT game system WORKS BUT WG stop improving game modes and forgive balance last 2 years… is a shame that WG go for planes and ships and leave tanks alone… because they can have today WOT Modern or a WOT game improved with 2 diferent versions WWII and modern.

I like many things in AW and looks promising BUT i suffer a big disappoitment with WT.

      • plz dude..they said that for WT..maybe even u..and wre is it now..this is just laim copy of wot and what they do diffrent..add modern tanks yeeeeaaaa…u shoot take hp just like wot..no m8 this shit is forgoten in less then 3 months..i also don’t like some things with wot(disapering of tanks on the open field sometimes stupid mm)but they are working on that(hopegully),and u are talking about something u didn’t even try..i think this is shit like WT.

      • agreed mate!
they are improving something stupid like graphics, while all we needed was a fkn new engine…

  4. I’m really interested in the game. I like the PvE ideas they have(even survival and bosses lol). Tank survival is a mode i am definitely looking forward to. The PvP should be good, considering the game is very much a WoT clone. For me, this clone seems more attractive than the original.
I’m bored of WoT, i’m bored of WT. Also, after 3-4 years of WW2 tanks seeing Pz4′s , Tigers, T-34′s just makes me nauseous. Nothing wrong with WW2 era machines but personally I’m so bored of them i practically hate them at this point. I have no desire to grind in either game.
I’m waiting for the AW CBT to hit in early 2015. Then we’ll see.

      • Hummm dont bet too much on that. Obsidian dont do a lot in AW they pretty much just give their name.

I was in the press day at gamescom and when i have talk to some obsidian staff/dev most of them have say that. They dont do much. AW wasnt advertise on the obsidian stand neither.

AW was advertise on a tiny boot , hard to find, made by My.com.

All in all it was really akward the way obsidian seem to not care much about AW,.

Dont put your hope too hight…

  5. For me, the game is some kind of a mixture between Point Blank, World of Tanks and Armed Assault, powered by the grossly underestimated CryEngine3…

And that ATGM shots in that gameplay teaser simply killed me… Stupid fuckers, did they ever see an AFV firing an ATGM through firing port like the M2 Bradley/through barrel like the T-80 (Ob’yekt 219)…

  6. If AW producers will remove all these pissing things from WoT, and I’ll have a chance to see, what is that skill based MM everybody are so afraid of, and there will be much smaller RNG spread – that will be definitely a try.

  7. Hope you know that AW is game by WG to American market. That explains Mail.ru @ AW.

  8. 1) Always good to have competition
    2) Some aspects copied from WoT are good – gun dispersion, which limit the effects of aimbots
    3) Some are bad – spotting mechanics suck IMO
    4) TBH, I wish it wasn’t F2P, so that there were less retards playing it

  9. I was extremely excited about AW – good graphics, modern engine, and finally MODERN tanks, not these horse-drawn carriages that we have in WoT (in comparison).
Then I saw a gameplay video, and all my hopes were crushed like a M1 drove across them.
There was such a great opportunity for something new, slightly different than WoT/WT…and it’s just the same. T-72s ramming and firing at around combat ranges of 200m, ATGMs which seem to be mostly just to work like shells (and with pitiful range and damage) etc.
Here I thought we would have some BIG maps, MBTs battling it out at long ranges, IFVs scouting with radar, ATGM carriers ambushing lone tanks from cover…saturation artillery bombardement…..but no :(

  10. AW just looks WoT-esque with a different vehicle research path and some modern-ish toys like missiles and smoke. Personally I look forward to AW, but after all the time I have spent in WoT, it will be a mere toy for me.

  11. Reading their FAQ, tank crews in AW will be generic and have no direct national ties, and I think that’s really awesome. This allows them to add any tank without having to fill a tech tree catered only to a certain country. If only WoT had adopted this method, tanks like the Super Sherman or BT-42 would’ve been in the game already. Using national tech trees simply discriminates nations that do not have enough tanks to form their own branches.
