Insider Talks: Aimbot, Fury

Hello everyone,

after yesterday’s FTR post about the Aimbot cheat, the Insider decided to investigate, what the developers think and know of this cheat. He found actually, that the developers know about it.

On the internal WG server, there is a file repository and one of the files, contained within, is the aimbot. The developers investigated it recently, but basically, what they think about it (a footnote in the file) is: “bannable, but almost useless”. The reasons cited for this mod being useless are the chaotic aiming. They actually tested the mod in real battles and the testing report mentions that the aimbot is capable of targetting even obscured targets, it is inaccurate (doesn’t always aim for the weakspots), on higher speeds it won’t hit anything and generally is no better than the autoaim (sometimes it aims at wrong places).

Oh, and the Fury Sherman will be actually SOLD to players, at least on Xbox 360 WoT. Here are the details of the upcoming bundle:

Fury hits theaters this fall, and for a limited time you can add the M4A3E8 “Fury” from the movie to your World of Tanks garage and experience it for yourself! This Tier VI premium tank features a unique appearance and comes with a 100% trained crew, a full set of equipment, and 7 days of Premium time to make sure you’re maximizing your Silver and experience earnings while showing off this flashy medium tank. Please note that this bundle is only purchasable one time per account.

The Insider thinks that the appearance of this bundle for Xbox means it’s likely such a bundle will appear for WoT PC as well, but is not sure. Oh and one last things – it looks like Wargaming will donate a portion of the money they get for the abovementioned bundle to fix the Sherman, damaged during the Fury filming.

I think I’ve heard of aimbots a longer time ago, so it’s not exactly a surprise WG knows about it and tested it themselves.
That Fury bundle, if we get something like that for regular pc WOT I might go for it. M4 and Easy8 are some of the most fun tanks I’ve played, and even among those I’m most successful in (which isn’t that great tbh). Wonder what it would cost, but I guess we’ll see end of the month.
That they take part of the money to restore the Sherman is a great idea, that might sell them a few more of those packages. Hope it’s not too expensive.

Of course the aimbot won’t make you autopen and autohit everything….but it makes it a HELL of a lot easier to shoot at a scout’s turret popping over a crest while you yourself are moving, amongst many other things.

Search the NA Forums for ‘cheating’ and I found a claim of aimbot from Jan 2012….

Didn’t Chieftain say the Sherman used in Fury is an M4A2E8 variant?

Well, when they release that, WG can take my money immediately! Looks like a pretty awesome premium, just because it looks cool (doubt it will be a great tank, but dat skin).

And now WG will perform internal investigation who was asking about aimbot within the last few days and insider will stop being insider.
Or, which would be more funny – it will appear that insider is a WG approved and developed leak channel to push some info in an unofficial and deniable way.

I use an aimbot sometimes: it’s called autoaim.

did u ever wondered maybe this insider is a wg employee as we all now but maybe they put them to handle you and this site with the only thing that they want u to hear ,i mean how can u say is banable when it cant autoaim ?

smart modified autoaim, that can track a target behind obstacles and highlight its contour. Also, it doesn’t aim at the center of the vehicle, but at (preprogrammed) vulnerable spots. Oh, and it also calculates the speed of the target and aims in front of it to compensate (pre-aim)

Today I go first time WARPAC site and read what they told they pack can do. I´m really terrified. If that pack do everything it say to do it ruin that game.

This might be hell of a premium tank, one of – if not the best on t6.

Pretty interesting for US medium players. Also the skin factor will attend lots of show-offs… this going to be good bussiness for WG :>

The problem with this aimbot hystery is not so much those noobs that use it, but the big amount of people that will accuse you of using this hack and even report you untill you get banned. If im not wrong, if alot of people report you, you can get banned for what ever (since the system is automatic). Yesterday several people accused me of aimbot because I hit tanks driving on full speed shooting thru openings in walls, but that is something that was always possible.

Now I am banned one day for unsportsmanlike conduct, and I dont know why really :P. To be honest I have been banned alot lately and I cant really remember that I have broken the rules. Anyways that is another story.

It has been posted just yesterday, and today I have seen aimbot accusation flying in pub matches, sigh…
