Tiger II To Have Authentic Sound?

Thanks to Martin K. for this one. The museum at Saumur on its youtube channel published another video – this time sound recordings from the Tiger II sound. Apart of having the sheer delight of seeing this monster moving (the only one in the world), it’s reasonable to believe that the guys recording the sound are from Wargaming, so we might in the end have a truly authentic Tiger II sound as well!

Okay, a tidbit that might be interesting for you. Recently (not sure when, but can’t have been long ago), Wargaming apparently – according to the words of of a Wargaming employee (no names for now) – 3D scanned the AMX-30 in Saumur (for some strange reason, WG scanned a middle-late production vehicle apparently instead of the prototype, which is there also – why? No idea). So in case you were wondering, yea – the next branch is probably the French AMX-30 one (heavy tanks on the other hand – not in 2015, or probably ever).

  1. Very cool. Guess I should probably get around to buying the Tiger II sometime LOL.

And nice to see that the French will get another line…

    • Dont get your hopes too high: they’re getting two tanks coming out of the Amx13 90 (which makes no fucking sense).

By making the CDC a premium WG effectively crippled any opportunity to make a whole med branch.

Meanwhile the people who made a complete french tree over the EU forum are still arguing about tanks that never existed, instead of translating their ideas to english and sending them to WG…

  2. actually that sound is not so good – as we are playing almost on the ground, not on asphalt, there might be some problems with that sound – i would love to hear real sounds, but make them real – get that tank on the ground going full throttle, that should do it. now it looks like they are playing toys.

    • I thought about that, too, but there are plenty of city maps where the clanking on asphalt will work. Plus, placing the microphone where they did will sound better than 30 feet away, like the video camera.

      • 5 meters is the industry standard distance for optimal sound recording. Of course when in sniper mode the sound would be an internal version.

    • These kind of sounds are not just recorded and then simply introduced into the game. They are getting tweaked/modified too.

  3. Are we certain that this is for WG and not pre-production work for Panzer 88? I think that movie is supposed to have a Tiger II.

  4. Looks like its a good idea to always keep a fire extinguisher at hand :-) You know, in case something hits thew lower front plate, like a cat or a WG employee …

  5. That engine needs tuning, it is “missing” and sounds like Bovingtons Tiger 1 before the Sdkfz foundation fixed it.

  6. french heavy tanks on the other hand – not in 2015, or probably ever

  7. Wg fail agin.

    tank IN A HALL
    tank on HARD SURFACE
tank only HAS ONE GEAR, the transmission is broken !….LOW Revs

    Recordings FAIL !

WG fail and amateur effort again (as there are good Maybach 230′s running!)

    • Nicely done. Always someone with the whine. I did a quick search but could not find the running time cost on the vehicle but I am sure that WG would take your yearly salary to fund 15 minutes of Tiger II cost.

Folks like you do not want historical anything you want movies. Go play that other game.

      • OK Mr dumb as Chicken poo !, try reading

as there are good Maybach 230′s running, so spend what little money you have on a bad runner ??……..you talk bullcrap buddy.

        • And again, are you paying the Musée des Blindés to purchase said engine? I’m sure they will accept you tax deductible donation.

          I’m not your buddy Pal

          • Thick today for a reason or just normal every day ?

Who said anything about purchasing the engine ? , we are talking about paying to have the recordings of it, there are other running ones which work above 1000revs.

            WG Fail and Troll FAIL:

    • it’s you, who have fail :

“tank IN A HALL” – did you really think they have recorded the sound in the hall ?
that not because they show it moving in the hall, that mean they have recorded the sound in the hall.

“tank on HARD SURFACE” – what wrong with that ? Wot have some hard surface like every map city, and that not because they don’t show it but they can have recorded some sound on different surface too.

“tank only HAS ONE GEAR, the transmission is broken !” – You’r wrong sir, the transmission have been repaired

  8. That engine reving up /me drools

And finally a tank that doesn’t screech and clank with every move. Such lovely sounds, from such a beast.

  9. Ueven though I have bot-like wr in my kt, I havent sold it n9r have I ever thought about it…… and will never sell this thing

  10. There are vids around from a Panther restoration with initial engine startup, I think it’s the same engine as Tiger II ? Or the same family at least, with more or less displacement. These things sound ultimate badass, and you could hear them coming from kilometers away. Like Rheinmetall for guns, there’s a reason Maybach ( MTU ) still makes engines today for Leopard 2 and others.

  11. It sounds like a bastard child of a steam and a diesel locomotive

  12. Too bad the tank is very meh in game. Cant let one of the actual nazi tanks be good. See tiger1 and 1..and panther.

        • Too bad the tank is very meh in game. Cant let one of the actual nazi tanks be good. See tiger1 and 1..and panther.

Is it used in t8 sh or tourny? No..because it is meh.

  13. My beloved Tiger II getting a HD model (soon™) AND realistic sound… that idea just makes me get a boner right there!

  14. I thought the the Museum at Samar told wargaming to “go away and not come back” when they asked about a close examination of the Bat Chat a while back?

What changed? Or what was needed just an healthy application of euros??
