Hello everyone,
in past few days on EU forums, there have been numerous threads, asking about the same thing – “I see this weird Russian pop-up in my garage, what’s going on and what does it say?”
It’s a mod thing.
Basically, you are using some modpack (Aslain’s and Jimbo’s packs were mentioned, but I am not sure), whose authors used/stole mods from another modpack, the Russian “ProTanki” one. This message is a warning from the authors of the Protanki modpack that the modpack you are using contains their mods (without permission), they are asking you to use their Protanki modpack instead.
This message does nothing, your mods won’t stop working, it’s just an annoyance. You will not be punished or anything.
Would help if those idiots used fucking English for their warnings. Who’s going to understand that gibberish like that?
Why should they care? The mods were used without their authorization so it’s your problem not theirs.
Because they want the warning to be understood, else they wouldn’t put a warning there.
They don’t loose money because of that so I guess the annoyance it gives works even better than the message itself ;)
Also they wouldn’t be understood by most of the EU community :P most of 10 year old kids don’t speak English if they are not English anyway ;)
>implying 10 YO kids make the majority of the EU playerbase
During summer holidays it’s probably close to that ;)
Gotta agree with Xen here. The whole point of putting a warning there is to make it known that the mod is being used without permission. If the players can’t understand it then it does not have the desired affect the authors intended. Ultimately, they didn’t care enough to make multilingual messages per client and as such you can surmise that a) They don’t care, or B) They are lazy.
c) They didn’t have to because the mod pack was Russian.
This is already covered in point a, thanks for trying.
Don’t like it? Don’t use mods :P -SerB
For example 10 million Russian players.
>implying Russians can read
Russian mods having Russian text? How terrible.
And Jove(RU) modpack haven’t RU text (only if you set EN language)
nice google transl8 m8
нельзя качать моды с непроверенных источников! картошка банит за это!
Get used to it, soon enough you most likely have to be able to speak russian anyhow
Russians can’t conquer my country. They’re too retarded to even locate it on a map.
Hey look at USA, they barely know that the earth is round and that there are countries outside their borders, yet they seem to invade other countries just fine.
A common misunderstanding from your side, its perfectly ok to dislike both of them when they do bad stuff. Just because someone else is an terrible person doesent gives you the right to be one right? :)
In Putin’s dreams. You probably mean Chinese.
Thanks for the info, I have this message as well! :(
I use Aslain’s and have not gotten any such warning what so ever.
Russian invasion, MUHOHA!
If you want to remove it. Remove these files and folders.
\res_mods.9.5\scripts\client\mods\ProSights ENTIRE FOLDER
\res_mods.9.5\scripts\client\mods\ProSights.pyc
So, its the ProSights mod?
Those folders came with J1mbo’s sights. I removed them and no more messages.
I’ve had it with webiums mod pack too…
I use identical Aslain’s mod set-ups on EU, NA, RU and Asia, but have so far only had this pop-up twice on NA.
So, XVM stole XVM from ProTanki when I downloaded it alone? Dear me…
Gotta love them russian script kiddees, they can’t code multilingual messages?
They don’t have to. With Russian, they reach 50% of WoTs fanbase.
You are right. There is absolutely no reason why anyone would want to improve something by 80%+ with no effort at all. It’d be a totally irrational thing to do!
Exactly, that’s why they don’t do it :)
I only wanted to mention that I removed this script the next day it was introduced in my modpack. :)
Yeah, I have always used your mod pack and never seen that message.
I think it would have been a lot better if you had included the mod with the authors approval though.
This kind of stuff is why modpacks leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Thx Aslain,
Update right away (had nu clue where to look cause I don’t speak/read Russian)
:D
Considering that a lot of mod authors don’t really mind/care if they’re included in a modpack so long at the author of the pack gives proper attribution instead of claiming the mod as their own work, I can see how those like Aslain may omit that step.
How about u ask for permission or just remove the mod? If you wanna use it you should at the very least respect its creators.
Anyway, WG should remove any modpack from the forums and ban “modpack” makers, they only spam the forums with their bullshit, and even worst, some even make a profit out of it.
Weird how everyone is bashing the developers for their use of their native language instead of bashing the modpack creators for using stuff without permission.
Aslain for example uses adfly for distributing his modpack which means he is generating income from other people’s efforts.
I removed it today from my Crosshair Mod. The main problem was that thing never showed up for me when I tested it…
Why didn’t I ask for permission? So far I never got a reply from any Russian modder when I tried to contact them so I just didn’t bother trying and just linked to where I got it from…
Yup… All mod pack makers went ahead and took ProTanki’s sights, because the guy (with his modding team) took the sights and fixed all the bugs with them.
One problem though, he did it only for himself. Pretty greedy in my opinion! Trying to get everybody to use his mod pack – and only.
Hello all =)
My name is Andrew, I’m a developer of a most scripts for ProTanki modpack, but I only developer, I am not the author.
The window that’s a discussed in the first post, it falls with a chance of 1 to 128 only for those people who use the script without ProTanki modpack. It states that the modification used without installing of ProTanki modpack and continue to work finelly, but it is better to install from ProTanki modpack.
From my part would be noted by the moment that is the only API for sights that works 100% correctly and dont have the well-known bug with guns calldown.
If you have any questions I am willing to give a detailed answer, thank you for your attention.
Hello POLIRIOD, I am thankful that you did so well at updating the sights for ProTanki…
But we on NA and EU clusters – are not familiar with ProTanki and would like to use other mod packs from OUR YouTube stars rather than ProTanki’s.
One problem is, you guys updated the sights and only allow them to be used with your mod pack.
I and many others would highly appreciate if you guys would release the sights for public use.
P.S Thank you for PMOD, great mod.
I understand, but I can not change anything =(
Unfortunately I only developer, I write code, I’m not the author.
All mods from ProTanki modpack with prefix Pro, written by me, written from scratch, but these are written for ProTanki modpack by money =(
The only mod I do it PMOD, it is a free, it is for all players, it can very much and it is multilanguage.
Thank you a lot for your effort!
I am also a mod pack maker… Here on NA (North America).
Please add me on Skype, I have sent you a request. I need to ask you a few things.
Again, thank you.
I have been using ProTanki modpack for at least last 3 patches. The installation and most mods are in English. Contains much wider choice of mods and is available faster than EU/NA mod packs. +I understand/can read Russian so it isn’t problem even if some mod does have Russian text. :P
Funny thing. The guy who bitches that someone is using his mods has Simon’s cat all over his Twitch channell. One has to wonder if Yusha actually bothered to ask Simon for permission.
+1
I got this Message today: http://puu.sh/ek7Ar/4488df9ec1.jpg It says Watch out! and there is a “close” button. How it looks in the notification center: http://puu.sh/ek7BB/dde10e7e94.jpg
