- Storm confirms: artillery will have exactly the same shell distribution as other the vehicles, the 9.6 nerf concerns arty too
- Storm is not aware of a plan to remove IS-6 from the shops
- in 9.6, HD Ferdinand has an incorrect track movement (it behaves like if the drive sprocket was in the front and not in the rear), it will be fixed
- there is a “legend” going on around RU forums about the IS-3 frontal armor breaking up in welds after being shot at. Storm states that this happened only once during the testing, after which the design of the frontal nose part was reworked for this never to happen again.
- it was proposed internally within WG to add Oddball’s Sherman from the movie Kelly’s Heroes.

    • Bert wont suffer from it lol the perks says so xD Snapshot, smoothride, offroad driving, clutch breaking, brothers in arms. negates all the nerfs

my reload is still 10 seconds XD

Bert will always be accuate as hell :p

      and you guys know it!

i miss the old times.. fail platooning with bert and taking out there teir 10 artys as they scrable to run away from the little monster lolololol as your dodging e100 is7 even getting away from a batchats speed lol as everyone rages they cant hit you lololol i still do that today!!!

      1750 battles in mine lulz

such a cannibal bert is xD

          • 2k battles in my Object 212 before I quit for 2 years.
I came back to find an accuracy nerf, a tier nerf (went up from tier 7 to tier 9), and a traverse arc nerf. Also a minor name change.

I hardly ever use it any more.
I only keep it for sentimental reasons.

        • And do you ever miss an opportunity to troll, Woras? Or should I say “Trollas”? ;D

But I usually approve of your trolling, so here, take this internet cookie and carry on, good sir! XD

      • As Silentstalker stated before, “decent but not OP”. I agree, even if the number of bobs driving it is TOO DAMN HIGH.

    • The tank has it’s strengths and weaknesses. The gun and mobility are average, the turret and side hull are strong, the front hull and the ammorack are shit

      • Turret is fine, but the weakspot above the gun is pretty easily hittable. I don’t drive it but I think IS-3 is not OP. However, I play tier 8 very little recently, so it’s either a cannon fodder (if I take FV183 or E3/4) or something to avoid (if driving Firefly, KV-85…)

    • The IS-3 USED to be a little over powered, if anyone remembers that far back anymore. Or at least really good. That’s why its was so popular with the tomatoes. But its been only somewhat mediocre for quite a while now.

  1. Only the side armour is OP. The front is poor and the whole tank is one huge ammo rack.

    • You’re right, only the side armor is OP. But the front turret is OP as well, certainly stronger than KT – a big fat slow tank which is supposed to be armored. Oh and the hull is very well angled and you need to place your shot carefully to have guaranteed pen. That is if you don’t get a bad acc RNG which can easily happen. Oh and did I mention IS-3′s hull is a small target ?

So yeah, it certainly isn’t OP. I’d rather drive a Tiger II, and get penetrated in the glacis by ALL T8 heavies and TDs.

      • IS-3′s frontal hull armour is only ~170 mm effective, and the turret has a weakspot penetrable by any 75+ mm gun.
The side armour is nothing special either, most of it is vertical 90 mm.

        • How much effective armor did the is3 have before the armor rebalance some patches ago? Did the armor angles change or did they just increase the nose making the lower plate smaller and more effective? Because looking at pictures on google the is3 seem to have a much larger and flat lower plate, almost like is8 but I have never seen that in wot, even the older is3 model seem to have smaller lower plate than in real life.

          • Before the model change, the effective frontal armour was around 185 mm.
As far as I can tell, the lower plate is indeed smaller and at better angle than what I’ve seen in photos and in person, but the opposite is true for the upper part. Still, the tank is being modeled in HD now, so I suggest we wait until it comes to the game.

  2. “- it was proposed internally within WG to add Oddball’s Sherman from the movie Kelly’s Heroes.”

Fuck me I will get it!
That is one DAMN good movie. DAMN good indeed.

    • If they got the shells to do the damage but randomly splash the target like a paint shell as well. That would be cool.

      • i prefer to shoot AP 1st then mark them with paint ball,, especially their weak point

    • WG: “we are adding Oddball’s Sherman from the movie Kelly’s Heroes.”

ME: “SHUT UP AND TAKE THE CASH!”

  3. Well… time to sell the T92 because there’s now no reason to play it if I’m going to miss EVEN MORE shots and have more matches where I do no damage because of RNG.

money loss ahoy. they better do something to buff it or nobody is going to want to play arty

    • The accuracy nerf is rightful – currently far too many shots go in the dead center of the aiming circle. I don’t think this will affect artys too much, well, no more snapshots with an aiming circle of a size of the cap circle, but thats all.

      • Your statement, regarding artillery, is unenlightened.

We don’t fire until the reticle is tight. We already miss a LOT.

Tankers only remember when they get hit, and think arty hits every time. We don’t.

Artillery OFFICIALLY isn’t subject to the same bot rules that tanks are. SS can probably pull up the article that stated that.

It’s because it is not unusual for an SPG to go an entire game and not do ANY damage. I did that 2 days ago in my CGC with a 2.6 perk crew (full BIA). It was expensive.

7 of my SPG’s have their first mark of excellence, as do 9 of my assorted tanks – so at least the game thinks I know what I’m doing.

And still we miss shots on immobile targets who have no cover.

This is about the last straw. Hey SS, how’s the AW page coming along? ;)

    • But didn’t arty have the old dispersion in the first place? The one with 2.5% of shots going to the edge of the circle. I remember people saying that if the arty would have gotten the dispersion that currently is on the rest of the tanks, arty would have gotten OP. So in the end with the unified dispersion to all tanks arty would hit less in the center but also hit less on the very edge of the circle which means more shots between. I would consider this a small buff.

      • I also remember that devs said that arty never got the new dispersion in 8.6 and that 20% of the shots still went outside the circle. Because if that is true, this is a huge buff for artys because they didnt get the 8.6 accuracy from the first beginning. And 9.6 accuracy is still better than pre 8.6 accuracy I think juding by what I have read.

        • You remember wrong. The dispersion within the aiming circle was changed for every gun in the game, but to ensure arties are not too accurate their accuracy stat was changed (for example) from 0.5 to 0.9. Which still meant small increase in accuracy for arties.

        • BS. Artys DID got the 8.6 accuracy changes the same way other classes, thats why artys acc dispersion was increased by 50% (for example: 0.5 -> 0.75) so they won’t be OP – but the “too much shots goes to the center” applies to artys too.

          • Yep, and now the distribution is being nerfed but it doesn’t seem like their accuracy will be improved to compensate, meaning SPGs are going to be hit the hardest. Very few will reliably be able to directly hit a stationary enemy, making splash-based artillery the only real useful ones.

Take Obj. 261 for instance, on paper the most accurate SPG. 0.63 dispersion after accounting for commander bonus means 6.3 m diameter aiming circle at 1 000 m. Using the 8.6 system, 2/3 of shots go into the inner 50% (3.15 m diameter), which means you are very likely to hit a ‘normal size’ tank at 1 000 m if they aren’t moving. I don’t think the new system has been revealed, but clearly the ’2/3 shot diameter’ will increase towards 6.3 m, possibly large enough for short tanks to avoid shots more often without doing anything themselves.

(Incidentally, the 4.5 inch gun used on the FV304 is probably the true accuracy king, because the maximum range is only 500 m, the aiming circle only gets half as large as shooting from 1 000 m; 3.4 m accounting for commander bonus but not improved ventilation, yielding an old 2/3 diameter of only 1.7 m.)

            • Sorry, I forgot that the accuracy is given in by radius, so double all the circle sizes.

              Obj. 261 @ 1 000 m — 12.6 m aiming circle diameter,
              FV304 @ 500 m — 6.8 m aiming circle diameter.

That makes the situation a lot worse if shots don’t go to the centre as often…

            • For reference, the Maus should be about 10.2 m long, so it is quite possible to be RNGed out of a direct hit with the ‘most accurate’ SPG in the game against a stationary side-on Maus @ 1000 m (which at an idea angle is roughly a 5.2 x 10.2 rectangle).

    • finally thanks WG! you turned an arty player back to use! Now don’t start with TDs plz, play something like brit meds

    • Its a legend. Rumor would be something that happens right now.

Read the comments first, then see that there is no hope for humanity.

    • For the second part, probably SS turned off comments after some of the rather unneeded comments posted there

  4. - Storm is not aware of a plan to remove IS-6 from the shops

So he is not aware of his own statement that limited MM tanks will be removed?
Or is it because Russian bias? :P :P

  5. The accuracy nerf will be the ultimate screwup of the year (and it barely started). Even now with current accuracy as it is shells just love to hit the ground in front of target or just simply fly everywhere but not at the point we are aiming at.

Not to mention that this nerf also applies to the arty that already has rng accuracy…

    • WG will nerf accuracy and maybe even penetration on some guns because they want to rebalance the game. I have been told that a game must be rebalanced and alive to not die. Since there is no end game in wot. I think this nerv is good because it lets you live longer and not die so quick by snipers far away.

      • Yea and for every shot that misses or doesn’t pen you
You have the same problem trying to hit and pen YOUR target
you might live longer but you will lose your hair and your will to live and/ or to play the game if it gets really bad.
making armour more meaningful with an accuracy nerf is just retarded,
fully aimed shots should go to the center or whats the point of a fully aimed shot … just to go in the right direction ??? nerf snap shots to the moon and back , but not an aimed shot we already have to fight RNG at the best of times.
you make armour more meaningful by nerfing pen, specially on premium ammo , not by messing up a basic game mechanic that is actually skill based.

  6. If we’re going to add movie tanks by the dozen now; I feel a videogame tie-in will be around the corner.

I personally vote for a tie-in with EA to bring the Mammoth and Apocalypse tanks :D

    • Emperor Overlord.

Or the Sentinel Super Heavy from Rise of the Reds mod…

Or the Uberlord if you want to mexican standoff against a Ratte and win.

  7. What would be fun and no way realistic to happen is to see the “German” tanks that were used in US war movies from the 50′s and onwards. Patton’s and Chaffee’s painted grey with German markings on them. At least the US side of those movies had Sherman’s in them.

    • Hey, less oneshotting, more 600 dmg splashes.(For t9/t10 of course, fuck you low tiers lel)

    • Because it was good enough already and on a level with them when the regular tanks got buffed. Since all vehicles in WoT are equivalent accuracy wise now, nerfing all of them equally is of course the way to go if you want to nerf them.

    • because it uses the same aiming mechanics as the other tanks, all the other tank’s accuracy can’t be nerfed without it affecting arty too.

  8. The true problem with the IS-3 was that its weight had to stay below a certain limit, with the result of the hull being too soft and twisting when the tank was moving or turning, particularly in rough terrain, causing damage to the tank. The IS-3 actually was a disaster and more or less useless. It only had show value.

  9. i feel very insulted by all the comments at the Ausschwitz article.

I am german and i didnt live at that time.

Its not my fault what happened there. Im NOT a nazi because im german.

And most people at this time WERE NOT NAZIS!

    • I agree that in general you shouldn’t inherit the criminal responsibility of your ancestors, and it is true that most Germans at the time weren’t members of the Nazi Party.

I would say, however, that ‘not being a Nazi’ doesn’t absolve Germans at the time of all responsibility. There was no serious resistance to Nazi control; people either didn’t have any courage in their convictions, or thought that the Nazis weren’t so bad for Germany.

To be honest, I don’t know if I’d have the balls to fight against the Nazis in Germany, but there is an inescapable responsibility of being a citizen.

    • most of us now about the last bit, most of it was just forced, unless they were a family who followed their country really strongly, some of them, a bit too strongly.

hell even a german soldier might not be a nazi.

  10. Umm… What does it mean by the armor breaking up into welds? Like the pike nose splitting in game or in real life? Or is it another subject?

    • meaning it would be like a russian car, not very reliable, falls apart and breaks down all the time.

  11. Looks like WG found a new mine to dig from:
    Rudy, Oddball’s Sherman
    hmmm
    what’s next?
M3 Lee Lulu Belle from Sahara
M24 Chaffee from The Bridge at Remagen
SU-100 painted German from The Misfits Brigade
The White Tiger from Bielyj Tigr
    T-62 from the Beast
    M5A1 Stuart from Tank Girl???

The last one I could actually buy :P :P

  12. Oddball: Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don’t you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
    Moriarty: Crap!

Kelly: Well Oddball, what do you think?
Oddball: It’s a wasted trip baby. Nobody said nothing about locking horns with no Tigers.
Big Joe: Hey look, you just keep them Tigers busy and we’ll take care of the rest.
Oddball: The only way I got to keep them Tigers busy is to LET THEM SHOOT HOLES IN ME!
Crapgame: Hey, Oddball, this is your hour of glory. And you’re chickening out!
Oddball: To a New Yorker like you, a hero is some type of weird sandwich, not some nut who takes on three Tigers.
Kelly: Nobody’s asking you to be a hero.
Oddball: No? Then YOU sit up in that turret baby.
Kelly: No, because you’re gonna be up there, baby, and I’ll be right outside showing you which way to go.
    Oddball: Yeah?
    Kelly: Yeah.
Oddball: Crazy… I mean like, so many positive waves… maybe we can’t lose, you’re on!

    Oddball: Hi, man.
Big Joe: What are you doing?
Oddball: I’m drinking wine and eating cheese, and catching some rays, you know.
    Big Joe: What’s happening?
Oddball: Well, the tank’s broke and they’re trying to fix it.
Big Joe: Well, then, why the hell aren’t you up there helping them?
Oddball: [chuckles] I only ride ‘em, I don’t know what makes ‘em work.
    Big Joe: Christ!
Oddball: Definitely an antisocial type. Woof, woof, woof! That’s my other dog imitation.
Oddball: Arf arf arf… That’s my other dog impression.

Oddball: This engine’s been modified by our mechanical genius here, Moriarty. Right?
    Moriarty: Whatever you say, babe.
    [giggles]
Oddball: These engines are the fastest in any tanks in the European Theater of Operations, forwards or backwards. You see, man, we like to feel we can get out of trouble, quicker than we got into it.
Kelly: [looking skeptical] Got any other secret weapons?
Oddball: Well, yeah, man, you see, like, all the tanks we come up against are bigger and better than ours, so all we can hope to do is, like, scare ‘em away, y’know. This gun is an ordinary 76mm but we add this piece of pipe onto it, and the Krauts think, like, maybe it’s a 90mm. We got our own ammunition, it’s filled with paint. When we fire it, it makes… pretty pictures. Scares the hell outta people! We have a loudspeaker here, and when we go into battle we play music, very loud. It kind of… calms us down.

Crapgame: What is this? Huh? What is this, a ballgame? Who are these guys?
    Oddball: Their my friends, Crapgame.
Crapgame: And who is that bunch of refugees over there?
    Oddball: The band.
Crapgame: The band? What do we need a band for?
Oddball: Have a little faith, Crapgame. They’re beautiful people.
