T-39 Drawing and its French Interpretation

Hello everyone,

pretty much every large nation’s tank industry produced at least a proposal for some strange superheavy tank and the Soviets were no different. In 1933, this monster (designated T-39) was designed by the Kirov plant special design bureau (ОКМО Опытного завода Спецмаштреста им. С. М. Кирова) under the leadership of N.V.Barykov. It was never built, but here’s how one of its variants looked. You can read more about its properties here.

But wait, this is not all. The French “journalists” and “historians” from the French magazine, that brought you the “Panther is better than IS-3” article produced a drawing of this tank:

In case you didn’t get it, the drawing says “Glory to Stepan Bandera” – these French guys are some SERIOUS wehraboos. And this is not the only crap they produced, by far… stay tuned :)

  1. what meaning the french magazine wanna give to that emblem?? Im no history expert but russian tank with anti-russian emblem makes no sense xd

maybe they just wanted some “russian letters” and copy/pasted the wrong ones? like guys with chicken chop-suey tatoos xdd

  2. Slava Stepanowi Banderi and the Ukrainian national emblem on a soviet fictional tank drawing… Good job journalistic fiction writers…

  3. SS, next time you mention an “insider joke” inscription, you should explain who Stepan Bandera was. Most people here have no clue, i guarantee it. And please, cover both sides and the complete story, just to get the whole picture together….

      • Ukrainian Nazi collaborator. You mind, poor guy kind of late to the party; because Russians were forced to stop collaborating with Nazis in 1941.

        • Dont make it so easy. He wasnt “only” a ukrainian nazi collaborator.

He hated the poles and was a nationalistic ukrainian politican.
Back then the western ukraine was east poland – he wanted it to be part of the ukraine, because mainly ukrainian people lived there (60%). At the dawn of WW2 he collaborated with the nazis, to fullfill his goal (independent ukraine). But the nazis didnt like his idea, they wanted a puppetstate, no independent ukraine. So they sent him in a KZ (!!!). In 1944 he was released, to help form some ukraine resistance against the advancing red army. But he didnt helped the Nazis then, he fought against the occupation of the germans, against the polish partisan army AND against the red army at the same time – he still wanted an independent ukraine.

Thats why he is a sort of “national hero” in the western ukraine.

            • I didnt say he was a good man, or his actions can be justified. But you shouldnt call him “ukrainian nazi collaborator”, because that covers not even half of his life.

                • That wasnt my intention, sry if you read it this way.
I just listed all the things that werent included in “ukrainian nazi collaborator”, because it is important to understand the person. And yes he was a murderer, criminal, war criminal and racist.

              • Easy now Dmitri. I´ts not Your fault that poor s.o.b. didn´t get the memo from Stavka.

Joked aside I´d rather see Semen Petlura as the model Ukrainian hero…

          • Glory to Stepan Bandera = shame to French “historians”.

He was responsible of slaughtering of up to 100 000 civilians. PERIOD.
I don’t f… care what else he did in his life.

    • Which any obviously polish person should, seeing as 1.) he is slavic himself and 2.) Bandera killed at least 70k poles in Galicia alone.
Crazy, crazy world we are living in …

  4. I don’t care if it is made from tinplate, i still want one. Just like i still want a T-35 and that multi turret french thing that i cannot recall the name of. They can be crap, i just like the whole land battleship thing.

  5. That mini-catterpillar in the front :D lol :D

Also, this thing is goddamn ugly, and not because it’s multiturreted tank – T-35 looks badass, even the goddamn unreal behemoth Landkreuzer p.1000 looks good (in its own crazy way – if you’re Hitler, Porsche or any other “inner 8 year old” megalomaniac who as a kid enjoyed playing with those uber plastic fortresses with jeeps, machineguns and NERF dart firing “rocket launchers” all over it), but this thing looks like cross between oversized siamese T1 Cunningham and Bucket-wheel excavator.

      • Yes, because being part of most hated nation in one certain PC game in 2015 basically legalises any genocide against said nation in 1940s. /irony off

You must be either very stupid or even far more stupid, that’s not even troll atempt, that’s plain offense against human rights.

And no, i’m not Pole nor do i enjoy losing my games on the field of coordination and strategy just because most Poles (well, Czechs too, sadly, i admit) refuse to learn goddamn english, but… Advocating genocide just because some people ruin goddamn videogame to you… that’s beyond evil…

  6. Mind blown… Why do they think that Russian tank has anything to do with Ukrainian bandits, apart from shooting them obviously…
