      • The real machine had -6/-6 from a combination of actual gun declination and hydraulics dropping the forward hull, right?

        -10 is a pretty good compromise for only having one of the two mechanics in place…admittedly I don’t know much about the system (was it in a previous article?), but I doubt the tank would have been able to move well/at all with the track hydraulics in the lowered position. The tank we’re getting will be able to pack up and move much faster than the real thing, while retaining most of its real-life hull-down ability.

        • Ye, the problem is WG would need to implement a completely new system if they did the hidraulic suspension lowering, but we know they are too lazy for it.

          • -10 depression with current turret and mantlet is unbalanced. Another money grab, this tank would of been fine with -6 or -7.

            • No, with 6° it would have been utter trash, 6° is PTA level and we all know how well it can shot over “bumps”. It has the same hull armor as Leo and better turret armor, butnothing close to the russian meds. It probably will be FV4202 level which has quite a similar shape and we all know how “good” the turret is.

    The armour models suggest a change in angle at the drivers view port but this is now the 4th pic which doesn’t seem to show this

    I still say that if it actually comes out with -10 then this tank will be worth having but if it comes out with -6 then why bother there are better tanks as this in theory has no frontal armor

    it seems to have 80mm @ 60D = 160 effective (so nothing)

    i also point out it’s obvious weak spots

    • I haven’t seen any visual demonstration (from ASAP/KTTC or screenshots) that shows the STB-1 gun going down more than 6 degrees. I guess test server will settle things.

      While obviously greater gun depression would make this tank more effective, it already has Leopard 1 grade mobility (gimped top speed), L7 alpha AND Soviet DPM parity.

      • i think it will be a good tank even if it has -6. it will be better than the e-50m or leo. pretty much similar to the 62a which also has no frontal armour but the 62 doesn’t have the turret weak spot like the stb-1. I’ve picked the wrong horse before but the obj 430 should be a better all round tank assuming it has 65 degree UGt but this is something else we’ll have to wait and see about.

        I know the obj 430 is not an interesting tank but if all goes well it’s won’t have any general weaknesses

        • If this thing ends up with -10 then it will be able to hide all it’s weak parts and really rip into people.

        • Obj 430 has the same problems as the Obj 140, namely thin turret top (to allow for -6; T-62A is thick on top, but only -5) and reduced mobility on hilly terrain (low p:w compared with all other non-communist, non-American T10 med).

  12. I sure hope these tanks aren’t like another German knock off. I’m getting tired of E100 copies and T62a clones.

    I hope this tank brings something new to the table.

    • While it’s gonna be a great tank, it’s not really anything original.
      In practice, it’s just a good M48 Patton. It uses the L7 like a lot of other tier 10 meds, it has a similar top speed to the M48/M60, 121, and Object 140, it has -10 degrees gun depression (1 more degree than the M48 and tied with the FV4202,) only decent-ish frontal armor like the Object 140 and M48/M60, and above average medium tank view range.

      • If it does get -10 in final release, I feel that some other characteristic will be nerfed. M48 used to have 7.5 RPM but this was OP; STB-1 seems to be better or equal to M48 in every way, with pre-nerf L7 RoF… something has got to give. 10 m less view range (irrelevant due to likely superior camo) and slightly worse pen isn’t enough. Otherwise, M48 buff?
