WoT Wiki coming soon… hopefully.

Hello everyone,

just a quick piece of information: we all probably know the WoT Wiki, one of the first sources of WoT info there was. I know I was looking there, I still do in fact (well, at least for some info anyway). You might have also noticed that it was locked for several months now (since 8.8 or 8.9). The reason for that apparently was an overhaul. Recently, a Russian wiki author sort of “leaked” that WoT Wiki should return soon and that currently, two graphic variants are being worked on. Here they are.

Here’s a catch though. This is from the Russian section and it does not mean the English Wiki will also return at the point. There were some hints that it should also happen soon, but… who knows?

  1. curent wiki still at 8.9, even some TD (like sturer emil) in german WT line unfinished the infomation,

  2. English WoT-Wiki will fail to the point of being discarded/abolished/destroyed. Period.

deal with it people *puts Ray-Ban sunglasses*

  3. The ru wiki was always better, in fact, I did visit it myself when eng wiki was insufficient to my needs. Though it would be more comfortable for me to have eng one but ru is good with google translate add on.

    • Yanno, you could always come help. RU wiki has a massive player base supporting it so ya, they get some extra stuff added.

      • How? I thought editing was only done by NA server accounts. Anyway if WG are just giving you KTTS bullshit, no amount of extra help from player will make a difference. Right?

        • Nope, we have European team members also. Never seemed to pick up anyone on the team from SEA, however, the wiki (pre lock) was editable by anyone. Post lock, not sure. It’s going to be tied into your account log in, haven’t heard what the ramifications of that will be. Better still be open to anyone who would need an EN Wiki, but unless I move it private I don’t have control over that. WG hosts it even if they are (weren’t?) directly involved in it.

          • If they make it so that only NA accounts can edit it, the workaround is simple for those who have EU or SEA accounts that want to edit it. Just create an NA account that you use only for wiki editing. You wouldn’t even have to download the NA client.

  4. Lead EN WoT Wiki editor here, all we’re getting is “soon™” YMMV….

Oh, and if >that< is what they've been doing since Nov 4th 2013? That is the massive overhaul? Oh boy, there are not words to express….

    • I was thinking the same…all that time wasted for basically only a background color change?(looking at the second picture)…

      • There’s supposed to be the addition of the other games like WoWP and WoWS as well, but my goodness, this should not take 5 months.

    Hello.

    (…)

I just realized that http://wiki.worldoftanks.eu/ is actually a NA project and has their dedicated forum on http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/forum/52-world-of-tanks-wiki-project/.

This makes participating in this project a little bit tricky for EU community members. Should we create an account on the NA server or do you consider to make this wiki more accessible for the EU community.

    Please advise.

    Cheers.

    Hello !

It is a very interesting point you raise, at this time the best solution is that you create an account there and advise the people in charge that you’re a EU player so as they don’t take you for a new account user ^_^

As for your suggestion, I believe you’re right, EU players should have a better way to access this.

Thank you very much for your help and cooperation in this matter.

    Kind Regards,

    Javier Jones

    hello Javier.

    Thanks for your reply.

“As for your suggestion, I believe you’re right, EU players should have a better way to access this.”

Have you reported or forwarded this maybe or is this just your personal opinion.

I mean, certainly having several different language communities in EU, it would be interesting for us to know, if there are plans to introduce a EU Wiki, where people just can translate pages into their own languages… the same way it is on wikipedia. This would be in so far more convenient for all players that the useful RU wiki could be translated with it’s content especially recommendations on crew skills/perks, equipement & consumables.

So, imo, it would be useful for all players around the world, to access and contribute to the wiki with their existing accounts.

        • OMG that person over there thinks that the GW E100 is a “big ugly grey soap” clearly he must be a noob as his knowledge of tanks is so low that he thinks the GW E100 is ugly! Only noobs have that opinion!
Therefore clearly people who are not fantastic in this game have absolutely no knowledge of the mechanics of this games and are all noobtards. (sarcasm off)
Seriously people like you tire me.

  6. There’s no “English” WoT-Wiki, because this is a NA WoT community project. I wrote several months ago to EU Support and at this moment there is no other option than registering a NA WoT account in order to contribute to this Wiki. Here is the link to the official project forum:

    http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/forum/52-world-of-tanks-wiki-project/

You won’t get a into contact with the guys working on the NA WoT Wiki, trough the Wiki page, the forum is the right place.

I suppose the roaming option between servers, will allow to contribute to this project with your regular EU-account rather than registering another account.

As for now, I just use the translating option in Google Chrome to get the RU wiki translated, which obviously is superior to the NA Wiki, where you currently do not have any options to add information on recommended crew skills/perks, consumables, etc. in the same professional manner like on the RU Wiki, also the layout is pretty much fixed. I’d love to finally read some non-translated wiki information from RU to EN/DE/PL. :(

    • I have EU based team members. My giving permissions to people to do higher level editing was not contingent on where they were located. And, anyone could regular editing, regardless of where they were from. Stay tuned for what it will be like once back as it will be tied to your account to log in, but no mention has been made about excluding servers. Besides, how hard is it even if it is server based to make an account so you can log in and help edit the wiki. I made sure the area you linked was open to anyone, no 20 battle BS like the rest of the forums. I’ll push for no server based restrictions on the new wiki as well.

      • can you even imagine how many electronic accounts I own??? :) I have reasons to complain about every single additional account, especially if it can be made obsolete in forward. reminds me to delete this FB account….

  7. 2nd one looks hte best without the garage backgrounds. The original is ok as is though, just needs updating!
