A sad story, this is – in St.Petersburg, a 17 year old Alexander S. jumped out of a 4th floor window, ending in hospital with serious injuries, after losing in a computer game World of Tanks. During this incident, his grandmother was present in the appartment.

According the words of his grandmother, the teenager got angry, started destroying the PC screen, then he ran into the kitchen and then he jumped out of the window. According to the district authorities, an investigation was opened under the Article 110 of the Russian Penal Code: “Incitement to suicide”. His girlfriend wrote on social network that he played a lot of World of Tanks and often raged online. The teenager also had real life issues, he was recently expelled from school and possibly had problems with his step-father.

Well guys, whenever someone tells you in chat to go kill yourselves…. don’t take it literally.

  2. When life is very hard, it is really easy to have a computer game as sole reason of relief and distraction.
    Unfortunately, WoT is not really a “friendly” game.

    • Sorry man,but if you are able to kill yourself just because of stupid game,something is wrong in your head. Ok,maybe i damaged one keyboard during playing,but trying to kill myself or someone else?…I dont know…

      • I don’t think it was due to the game as SS stated he had problem in real life there is the real problem. Game was just the trigger that let him express that anger from rl.

      • the game was just the last trigger, and yes, he probably wasn’t right, IRL issues often end up with depression and anxiety, quite a common health problem this days, in fact if we were to check it up we would probably end up founding that almost every human in modern society has “something wrong in his head”… and the way you worded it was quite harsh and ignorant-like.

        Seriously, study a little about modern health issues, internet provides a lot of easy information this days.

    • It would also be weak minded to assume that he tried to commit suicide ONLY because of a video game.

      Its already mentioned that he had real life issues, that can have an enormous effect on a person. Depression can be fatal, some people have the problem to negatively analyze themselves into an abyss if nothing would improve and everything gets fucked up.

      The teen buried himself into the game to avoid thinking about everything that is wrong around and with him, but it all builds up to a volatile point.

      And the kind of toxic audience WoT has, doesn’t help the problem.

      • Your comment is very fitting for me. I would fall into the exact category as u stated and thought of suicide multiple times. Then I sit down and look at my mum’s photo…. Then i gain the motivation to give things another chance ….

        My life it pretty screwed up atm and I live on the brink of depression. WoT is the only way for me to take all the crap out of my mind but when I think about it, it is just a waste of time and nothing improves on its own…

    • You DON’T pity the boy?? I’m sorry, but someone who wants to kill himself has serious issues and is not by definition exaggerating. NO ONE would do something like that for an unimportant reason.

      He might perceive his problems in a different way than most people do, but this doesn’t change what this person feels.

      You don’t know all of his problems and it might have nothing to do with WoT. Please think about what you say before you throw such nonsense into the world.

        You see the issue is like you’ve said “before you decide to throw yourself out of a window”, you don’t throw YOURSELF out the window, you go find whoever is giving you grief and THROW THEM UNDER A BUS, you go to their house, maul them with a tyre iron and skin them like a cat to send a clear message, THAT’S what you do, you don’t damage yourself because the prime directive is always to maintain structural integrity AT ALL COSTS (a terminator cannot terminate itself, why should you?).

    What i want to know is how much battles does this guy have? cuz after 100 battles everyone (exept some statpadders) everyone has lost a couple of battles.

    • So i am not alone…I know that feeling, I know how hard is to play scouts. I always have to fight on himmelsdorf, or tundra, where everyone is camping and im often end up in the first 3 places on damage done in my 13 90 while my team is losing 4 15 (2 kills made by myself), tier X battle. Then they blame me because i didnt scout and didnt carried the game..

      Btw if WG will buff scouts only by fixing their mm, this would be shit.

  10. When I read that the teenager ran into the kitchen I was worried for a moment that he would stab himself to death. Think of how troublesome that would have been for his parents.
    It sounds more like he was going to kill himself whether he played WoT or not. WoT might have actually postponed his suicide.

    These stupid teenager’s are just treating life as a game. So retarded and annoying.

        • I do realize that the modern man has tempered with the natural selection process but in some cases, when stupidity goes beyond limits, natural selection makes you jump off a building without a parachute after losing a WoT game. I really can’t feel sorry for these guys.

  17. after doing 50% of the battle’s damage, killing lots of tanks, running around and decapping, my tomato team still managed to die, and leave me alone against 4 higher tiers. in these moments i also want to jump out of the window, but it’s only 1m high..
    video game is never the main problem for these kids

Most stupid thing about cases like this – retarded people will now shout all over the world about how bad WOT is, how bad Computer games in general is, as they kill people, etc. They don’t understand, that overall situations like this do help – game just proves it faster, that some people got huge real life issues, which should be taken care of.

  34. I’m sorry, but this? I laughed at this for a simple, A VERY SIMPLE reason:

    The moron may have had RL issues, but wanting to commit suicide for ANY REASON AT ALL IS JUST PATHETIC. And if WoT was the last trigger, to this stupid, if not completely lifeless decision, then the internet is not for him. Infact no online game is. This may sound harsh, and it is, but I’ve seen people in MORE desperate situations, in more horrific situations and having absolutely nothing just the clothes on their backs, try to live with what little they have. If those people can do it, I am sure some pubescent 17 year old can too.

    With each article like this out there, people wonder why I don’t watch the news.

      Because when you feel you have no reason to live any more, you feel unworthy of being alive, it’s not that you *want* to suicide, it’s just that it’s the last escape mechanism you have.

      Never confuse physical difficulty, and mental difficulty. Every one reacts differently, and feeling superior because you *think* suicide is pathetic and for the weak only makes you look like a giant fucking asshole that has no idea what he is talking about.

      Shut your ignorant mouth if you have no idea what he is going through.
      I may be living in an apartment I can barely afford, eating the cheapest canned food available, living with the clothes I’m given as gifts, with the PC I bought for work when I was better off, but none of that compares with the mental anguish of depression and mild schizophrenia. Not even by a long shot.

      • None of that compares to what people in Somalia are going through. Tell me, how is he’s situation so special? Compared to some of the countries on this continent (I live in Africa), I’d say those people have more reason. Suicide is ignorance at its best, not my ignorance to his suffering. Do you honestly think, I would care if he suicided? NO. I’d pity his Girlfriend, and his grandparents, the people looking after him and the people that love him. Because they would suffer way more from his stupidity, than he would in a lifetime.

        Tell me, a warm bed, a roof over his head, a girlfriend who loves him, grandparents that love him, and the ability to play WoT and buy premium time. Do you know how many people have WAY less than that? Do you know how many countries there are on this continent that barely have enough food to survive? And surely you know that there are WAY more people on this Earth that wish they even had education. Oh, and let add to that, a family as well.

        Don’t tell me I don’t know depression. I live in a Country where depression is just part of everyday life. And do you know what you do with depression? DEAL WITH IT.

          • I really still don’t see the point. Its like your beating around the bush. None of us know what he is going through since we don’t know what is the cause of all this. While I read this and my faith in humanity became nonexistent. I really really really, truly and honestly, couldn’t give less of a fuck if you hate me.

            And I already told a few people in depression to deal with it, guess what, they dealt with it and are MUCH better off than this sorry excuse of DNA.   42. Well i’m pretty sure his RL issues were the main reason why he did that, and WoT weren’t really helping him with dealing with those issues, quite the opposite. This game can be frustrating, but not enough to make you jump off from the window. If anything is gonna fly trough my window it’s gonna be my PC(or some parts of it). Still haven’t get to the level of rage to do that though.

    Since hall of shame is gone and WG does not care about it, I am reporting all unlawful (nazi, suicide, strong insults) behaviour to my local police and prosecutor. And I mean ALL. They are obliged to investigate so be aware on the battlefield and mind your language. It really does not matter how good you play, how you behave and what you say on chat matters. Understanding of this very simple fact really separates man from boys.

  49. I don’t get it. I never get mad at this game…. I stay cool as a cucumber. Sure I’ve gotten frustrated, and stopped playing for a while. but never MAD. Usually the mistakes are my fault. And so… I see no reason to get mad at myself, either.
