  1. Ahh Shilka. So nostalgic. I love driving it in Operation Flashpoint : Cold War Crisis game back then. few years ago……………

    • shilka was probably #1 thing i feared as infantry. as soon as you got spotted all your guys started to fly off in random directions and it wrecked light vehicles pretty damn fast too.

      • Ah yeah, dat “flying” mechanic if u got bombarded by it xD Can’t blame for such old game…..

        • nah not blaming it. i started to play it as kid the day it came out, hyped like fuck after the demo version and ended up putting insane amount of hours in it. even played it like 10yrs after that with my college roommates out of nostalgy (and poor notebook performance :) lightyears ahead of its time includin modability and dat mission editor.. created so many wacky mp missions..ooh those were the times. MOVE TO THAT BUSH 3 OCLOCK! ENEMY SHILKA 200M. 1 IS DOWN. DAMN 2 IS DOWN. 3 IS DOWN… :))

          • I agree. Its mission editor was nuts too. I can put hundreds of T-80 and T-72 against hundreds of Abrams and M60. When I played it……Gosh, it just full of CHAOS……I still have Game of the Year version in my DVD……

And I still remember some of its famous quote…..

“Roger that, Firefly Base. Changing course now, November one out.”
“Papa Bear, this is Alpha. Comin’, over……”

    • Yeees, me too. Shilka was one of the best – even online, against infantry, against APCs, against planes, against helicopters, against the all! One burst and the battlefield was free :)

Does anybody knows that even IN THE DEMO it was possible to play with a T-72 tank? Not against, with!

      • I don’t really know, since I played Game of the Year version, that came with Resistance and Red Army missions

      • Damn, I hated them so much. I still remember the first mission where you command a M60. There was one Shilka that would wreck your M60 in a few seconds and if you tried to shoot it, it would destroy your gun instantly.

I never tried to hijack a tank in the demo, though I hijacked a tank in the first mission you play as Mjr. Gastowski (the special ops guy). I killed everyone, destroyed everything, even shot down a helicopter or two with the tank’s cannon… and then I got score so low it nearly ended my campaing because I wasn’t stealthy enough.

  2. dont really see why there doing an episode of this on a tank that isnt in a game, yes its educational and shit but it just makes us wish that this was in WoT or maybe even WoWp as an air defence bot

      • Many years back the MMO Air Warrior, where you had to bomb and then capture airfields with paratroops to increase your countries land mass. Airfields had bot AAA as well as player driven flakpanzers to defend them. There were no ground forces in the game. Great MMO while it lasted

    • You introduce Shilka into WoT, and no one will want to play light tanks anymore.
      Ever.

        • Less Pz 1C , more ultimate anti-scout, and US tank shredder.

Seriously, get on the flank of a T110 series, and you utter wreck it.
Same for mediums (safe maybe the E50)

        • Damn, with that rof it would be smooth-gameplay-denial-weapon… I see potential use even on CW :P , one good timed on ts burst and whole cluster of enemies having lags…

        • Just think about it. An autoloader with 200 rounds in the magazine (50 for each gun), that are fired in anout a second…

  3. God, I HATED seeing Shilkas when I used to do a lot of the old 90′s flight sims (Tornado, A-10, F-117, and a few others). Terrifying little bastards, although when I could find em in my A-10 sim I’d return the favor with that gigantic minigun in the nose and laugh as they popped like a zit. I think Dale Brown or Stephen Coonts used to refer to them as “Zeus” as well (ZSU = Zeus), which is an appropriate non-Soviet nickname, since they are like getting targeted by the finger of a god if they manage to track well.
