Hello everyone,
as you probably know, Wargaming is working on new motion physics, which will, amongst other things, include rolling the tanks over on their roof. According to Storm, if that happens to a tank, that tank is quite finished, unable to tip itself back over on its tracks. Now, this is not a new thought. The developers were actually considering this way back when the physics in the game were introduced (I am sure the very old players remember the time when you couldn’t jump off a cliff for example). Normally, I don’t repost Wargaming old videos (there is no point), but this video shows very nicely, why having tanks ending on their roof is a pretty bad idea – check what happens to the tanks in it…
1st!
We have something to compare.
GJ SS!
Physics shown in the video look incredibly smooth!
More like moon gravity.
These physics are infinitely better than current physics. They’re just not as retard-friendly, but much more realistic.
I want 1.0G gravity back and tanks rolling over.
Most of the footage was done with a lower gravity setting than we have in game. It was done to showcase how awesome the new physics was.
The current gravity in WoT is 20% than 9,81m/s², maybe thats the reason why it looks like “moon” gravity!
nope. if i recall correctly SS said it’s 1.2G. considering that 1G is the average gravity force at sea level, that means the tanks are more “weighted”, which i agree makes it bad since we cant do all those awesome jumps you might normally can at 1G.
in simpler words, someone filled your tank with more lead weight.
The gravity in those videos IIRC was actually incredibly low to showcase jumps.
Wow…that was some pretty wonky physics. Probably a good thing they didn’t put it all in, but being able to roll a tank could still work.
“but this video shows very nicely, why having tanks ending on their roof is a pretty good idea”
fixed, guess what, you have to be careful driving a tank.
Ooooh, you’re gonna love watching your last living teammate tip over in his full hp t8 heavy when trying to kill that last scout in a 14:14 game.
No different to watching him drown or simply losing the fight 1v1.
Except, he now has 1 more way to die. Oh the added possibilities.
Try playing some WT GF. See how much “fun” it is to roll onto your side or roof 1 minute into the match because you were trying to find an alternate route to flank.
Now imagine that WITHOUT respawns.
It would suck.
Get good.
You know that WT GF closed beta has ended a long time ago, right?
Because back then tanks had like no weight at all.
Rolling over is a 1:1000 case right now and happens only to those that try to do a side wheely with a StuG…
I’ve been playing it since CBT and it’s still pretty easy to roll your vehicle.
Just as I said: only happens to those that try weird things with their tanks. ;)
Physics were before 6.5 :D And physics could have been in 7.0.
Wargaming-style soon.
Lets hope Havok wont end up like it.
still i dont think its a bad idea,in this Video it looks like there is moon Gravity,(just look at the Leopard swimming through the water like a torpedo….)i think with higher gravity, tanks wouldnt flip over that easy,so actually i like the idea, and peoplewould have to be a bit more carefull yes maybe its a noob Trap but where is the problem by punishing bad players for bad driving skillls?
Because bad players donate wg… So wg do not wont to loose them for sake of satisfiing few masochists
Bad players make up most of your team. That’s why.
Ducki, the torpedo style leo is not (only) a matter of gravity, it’s a matter of fluid mechanics :P
I remember this video lol :D.
I’d like to see gravity brought to 1.0, the smoothness might allow the new track physics to be playable.
To fix tanks turning over, just add in resistance that increases once the tank hits 45 degrees. Tipping a tank further than 45 degrees requires greater force, such as another (enemy only most likely) tank ramming you.

Or a slope? Or an enemy on a slope? Or splash damage on a slope? Or drift on a slope? Or crossing a bridge (even if it is under attack or just narrow)? Just sayin’…
inb4 ppl saying “it looks like models” even more.
Only 3 years old video, but Storm looks so young, and judging by the looks, he didn’t earn so much as he does now ;)
The funniest thing is that he said at the end of the video that physics would be ready by the time of patch 7.0. :D
If they implement the “tipping over” then a lot of people would be satisfied. For about 2 hours. Then they would be raging about how easily they can get on their turret. :D
Let’s try it.
“this video shows very nicely, why having tanks ending on their roof is a pretty bad idea”
Wrong again, SS. The video is full of people doing stupid stunts in their tanks with moon-like gravity. If flipping was enabled right now, flips would be pretty rare.
