    • OVA as said Muhamad Setiadi is Original Video Animation.

      The difference is from the broadcasting. The TVseries – as the name suggest – are broadcasting on TV.
      OVA however don’t (usually) be broadcast on TV. You need to buy them.
      OVA have usually a better quality than TV series, since they have more time to do it.

      It’s true for some anime. But in this case this OVA aren’t really a bonus which you can skipped.
      Well, we already know that Anzio lose, but you have to watch it, IMO.

    • GuP was one of the “Send out to die” 08/15 animes.
      It was never intended to be a success and thus had minimalistic funds.
      Just take a good look at the art quality when comparing the series with the Anzio OVA….
      And those money problems were the reason why the Anzio battle didn’t appear in the series.

      That aside the OVA is gladly as good as the beginning half of GuP and not as mindbogglingly bad as the last 3 episodes.

      • Bah, if GuP had minimalistic funds, how would you describe Sabagebu? Or Arakawa/Bridge? Or Tentai Senshi Sunred?
        GuP may not look particularly spectacular, but 2D animations were a pretty decent standard, 3D tank models were well made and used and some of the 2D backgrounds were actually quite gorgeous. The funds might not have been big enough, but they certainly weren’t minimalistic.

        For the episode itself, I’ve actually found it to be the most boring GuP battle – cv.33s did nothing besides defying physics, P40 did nothing, only the TDs seemed to actually do some work. It would be much more interesting to see how Anzio got through the first round.

        • GuP achieved such quality in limited funds by sacrificing the time.
          Remember that the last episode had been postponed for a total of three months offhandedly, which is very unusual for a TV anime.

OVAs are extra stuff, sometimes is a x.5 episode (for example a bonus history between episode 3 and 4 to show something not appear in regular anime), a bonus humoristic miniepisode or even a way to cover in animes with manga missing arcs (for example in Kenichi the strongest disciple the anime stop around chapter 110 in manga but they release … 7-9 OVAs covering next manga chapters) but usually is an extra episode to extend the anime life (and a way to milk fans with bluerays hehehehe)

    The serie for me has very good tank design but apart this …. not a fan of Moe tank girls doing some Michale Bay fighting but well an anime about tanks is rare (there is a manga with short histories where one cover the fight of a Chi-Ha crew in Korea in 1945 VS soviets “Japan War 1945″).

    PD: but in the end the anime is more realistic than WOT but well, both have the same shit MM lol

    • Lols your comment about the shyt MM reminded me of those days when a Pz 4 could be up against a tier 8 ,9 ~ so in that terms, GUP MM is worst ~ Pz4 vs Maus although in WoT you’d never get a pz4 killing Maus ~

  13. If only they didnt made it with these dumb generic school kids… And as mentioned from someone… The anime had unexpected success and the makers were very surprised. Sadly all the marketing around was a huge money milking fail. For example the GUP model tank series… I actually got one and to my shock and huge disapointment the model was a repacked old cheap shit molding version of an existing Tamiya kit from the late 80′s with horrible detailing. The original model would cost like 10 Euros at most and they put it into a new box with the GUP print on it with a few stickers and priced it at 35 fucking EURO LOL. (now sellers cant sell it in sales for twice less… I guess ppl figured that out already… ).

    Thankfully lately more and more better anime pop up that are way more adult… To bad GUP jumped on the old generic shit train.
