Hello everyone,

exclusively for wot-news server (Edrard can into WG) – a parade of vehicles, that were planned, but never made it for one reason or another. Behold the steel monsters that were modelled, but never implemented and weep, for we shall likely not see their kind again.

In case you are wondering, the map they appear on is the Imperial Border (Chinese server exclusive, not popular even there).

  2. GodDAMN I want a Brummbar so bad, too! Even if the ST is impossible to balance, which I could sort of accept, surely they could put the Brummbar in anyway? That wouldn’t be problematic to stat up at all.

    • I know Svartmetall I too want the Brummbar in game. Its the vehicle I want more in the game than any other. I rote a blog on the NA server forum about it being in game, here’s the name – Sturmtiger and Sturmpanzer in World of Tanks?

      • oh and I rather have the late model Brummbar just cause its more improved. late model had a machinegun in the top left corner. not that the machinegun is even able to be used like all the other vehicles with machineguns. but still late model better in real life so add the better model in game why not.

  4. How2balance Sturmtiger:

    Make it a big marshmallow launcher like the old StuPa2.

    ONly 1000 alpha strike for a full lpen hit, but give it a 30m splash radius.

    • If they can’t balance the 380mm shell, just undergun with something smaller and work their work their way up. The Brummbar has a 150mm, which is easy enough to put in the game. The original Sturmtiger was supposed to use a 210mm howitzer, which is smaller than some guns already in the game and is already in use by even tier 8 artillery. Given what WG unleashed with the British 183mm gun, it shouldn’t be that hard to manage the 210mm on a Sturmtiger prototype.

  6. Just give the Sturmy KV-2-derp-like gun stats, 2800 or 3000 alpha, really low pen and 20m splash. Let it rely on splash rather than sheer alpha. Also 45 or so sec of reload. Also the moment it’s spotted everybody will shoot it.

    I think the guy responsible for publishing the complete tank models took one look at it and then died due to the sheer ugliness of it.

  8. M1921 Christie…probably scrapped for the same reasons as T-35. Namely, it has 2 turrets, stacked on top of each other. God, some designers must have been high as a kite back in the 20s and 30s LOL

    • Or, you know, the only time they actually built and used tanks in war was World War I, and thus had no clue what did and did not work.

      • not really. just that in WW1 the tanks are all paper armor, the british Marks are OP with 75mm guns, and it’s focused more on crossing trenches and troop support than actually killing tanks. that’s why most old pre-ww2 tanks are SLOW. a fine example would be our dear TOG II. if that behemoth is unleashed in WW1 the germans would shit their pants so hard it’ll turn British-Khaki.

        • Actually, they probably would have dealt with them the same way they dealt with all the other WWI heavy tanks: by blowing them up with arty.
          There’s a reason why Saint Chamond, Mark, Schneider and what not were quickly replaced by dozens of FT-17: slow, lumbering and unarmored tanks were vulnerable not only to infantry, but also to the insane amounts of fields and artillery guns used by each side during WWI. The 16 mm of the Marks, for exemple, were not enough to withstand a 100mm shell (which everyone and his mum had thousands of).

          Even the french superheavies would have been completely useless, at least until the uparmored versions came to life. The only realisticaly useful heavy tank planned during WWI was the FCm 1A, with its 30mm all around and decent speed, but its developpement got stopped in favor of the Renault light tank.

          Also, AFAIK, only the Saint Chamonds and Schneiders fielded a 75mm gun during WW1. The Marks had, at best, a 57mm (though some upgunned versions might have existed).

          The point is, none knew what tanks could be used for during the Great War and the interbellum. That’s why so many weird, exciting or unbelievable tanks and or projects were flourishing. It’s a shame all those end up as shitty tier 3s or 4s in WoT.

    Maybe just an excuse not to include a poorly armoured, slow, huge Soviet machine in game – especially as its main weapon was not an AT gun – those were in the secondary turrets which of course would not be used.

  10. The monstrosity here referred to as the “M1921″ has nothing to do with J. Walter Christie, though he did develop an entirely different tank with the same name.

  11. They basically desided to go for FV215 (183) instead of the Sturmtiger. Without the deathstar the Sturmtiger could have a 1750 aplha gun with low pen while being more balanced because it`s slow, has nor turret, no armor, derpi gun etc. but with the 183 in the game you have to give this 380mm, a gun that’s twice as big as the one on the deathstar, higher aplha damage and since a 5000aplha damage gun is simply retarded there is no way to implement this thing without screwing everything up.

    • 50 sec reload time, problem solved.
      Perhaps it’ll be the best gun in a game, but there’s only as much as you can kill with it. Especially once you consider the armor on that thing and a fact that it doesn’t have a turret.

    Meh, i hope they will implement some of these someday. I would surely buy the NbFz if it was available.

    • I want this tank so bad as well historically it had a 6 man crew layout so we could finally have a good crew trainer for the Maus and E-100. :(

      They should just put in those tanks without multi-turret support and if they EVER get around to implementing it then just rebalance them then. Also they could put in the whole SturmTiger branch EXCEPT for the SturmTiger then if they could figure a way to balance it later put it in then.

      • The size of the round has nothing to do with the damage.

        Which is why the US 120mm guns outdamage the Russian 122mm guns. Which is why the German, Russian and US 150/152/155 respectively do the same damage, and despite a relatively small increase of 20mm, do 200 more damage than the Russian 130mm, more than the damage difference of an 85mm round…

        They could’ve just made these short-range high-damage arty pieces.

        Nothing as controlled as this game is “impossible to balance”. Nothing.

        “Impossible to balance” means “We got lazy”.

        • Bcoz there isnt already enough arties. NO GTFO with more arties that shoot you with a fucking 380mm HE shell. Are you nuts?

      • It would also be direct fire, have a very small forward gun arc as it has no turret, awful reticle bloom.

        The ST wouldn’t be anything more than a turretless tier 9 or 10 KV-2. Devs probably got fed up with people bitching about alpha and decided they’d rather implement 4 HD models per patch than do actual work.

  17. Sturm tanks’ shell could be the same as the one on matilda for example, a slowly flying, half-arty shell with t92-level splash and a penetrating hit could delete any tank. But it would have like 30 penetration, slow aim time, narrow traverse, long reload, etc…. Wg is lazy again

  18. Impossible to balance? Just give the Sturmtiger British HE shell speed and ballistics, horrible accuracy and 5s aim time.

    • Well according to the size of the shell the HE dmg would reach way above 3000 dmg and thats simply to much overkill and it doesnt matter what kind of accuracy you give it. Ok granted with like 1 min reload and a DPM of 3000 could work, but then lets not forget its HE and you would never pen anything except a waffle so in t he end from the 3k dpm it would end up with 1500 at best. Historically the rocket fired could penetrate meters of steel concete like bunkers used and the detonation coul flatten a whole house street block.

      • ok it could penetrate a meter of concrete but a meter of steel no. the only gun to be able to penetrate a meter of steel was the Schwerer Gustav rail road gun with a 800mm shell.
