How did World of Tanks Change in 4 Years

Russian portal has one quite interesting article about how the World of Tanks has changed in 4 years. Unfortunately, I cannot replicate its contents here (you’ll see why), but here is the link – it does not require you to read the Russian text, the pictures are pretty self-explanatory.

Just to quickly sum it up:

- first picture is the hangar change, new hangar was introduced in 9.0
- second picture shows the evolution of “anniversary” hangars
- third picture shows the changes in graphics, noting that despite the improvement, the game remains playable on low end PC’s
- fourth picture shows the crew UI changes, the post says that back then in 2010, the crews only had three skills, now it’s 25
- fifth picture shows the evolution of vehicles, back in 2010 the game only had German and Russian tanks, now it’s over 300 vehicles
- sixth picture shows how the maps were reworked in 0.8.0 with the introduction of physics to look more realistically
- seventh picture shows the changes in Himmelsdorf, the post notes that more city maps were added (Ruinberg, Ruinberg on fire, Winter Himmelsdorf) to bring more variety to the game
- eighth picture shows the difference between SD and HD model
- so does the ninth

    Anyway I really hope WG continue to push themselves when there is more and more competition in the market (WT and AW). They better be progressing after 4 years as well.

    • Oh yes, battlereport, that was a thing… Spotted, damaged, destroyed, that was all, right? :D I dont play too long but this brought a little bit of nostalgia for me. :)

      • Yea :D you couldnt see how much damage had you done, just who had you damaged at all. And once you got out of the battle there was no way of seeing the report again. And the only thing scouts did was suicidescouting becouse there was no upon spotting

Old tanks looked better than the new HD ones, old GFX engine ran better and looked better than the new one, tier X TDs and Mediums pretty much fucked the game up and lets not forget everyone’s favourite premium ammo which threw all tank balance out of the window and turned it into World of Faceroll.

    Yeah… great changes in 4 years. Can I go back to the Beta version now?

  3. New city maps = Lets take old maps, make it really hard to see, call them new. … WG logic

  4. Well, not all changes=good changes. I prefered a lot of old stuff. Tech tree being one of the examples. I liked the game 2 years ago in general more than current game.
