The pilot that got the radar-lock later on got a certificate from the US confirming that he had made a positive radar-lock. :)
the submarine one is really common, especially because all of the US counter submarine equipment is designed for detecting nuke boats. Pretty much every time operation Talisman saber/sabre or RIMPAC comes around the RAN’s Collins class diesel subs take great pride in getting close enough to photograph the props on the Nimitz class carriers without getting picked up. plus a few years back one of them actually managed to sink one of the Nimitz class (simulated during joint exercises of course)
